Your guide to the best hotels at Baie Lazare, Mahé

Baie Lazare is a bay on the south-west coast of Mahé, and it is where the least expensive of our eight Seychelles properties sits. We feature one hotel on this page – the Kempinski Seychelles Resort Baie Lazare – and rather than stretch that into a comparison, this page tells you what the bay and the house actually offer.Kempinski Seychelles Resort Baie LazareKempinski Seychelles Resort Baie Lazare · Mahé IslandEvery booking through suitespot comes with a comprehensive package of suitespot benefits:
  • Complimentary breakfast for two
  • Room upgrade subject to availability
  • Up to USD 100 hotel credit per stay
  • Early check-in & late check-out subject to availability
  • Regular points & status benefits in the hotel loyalty programs

The Kempinski Seychelles Resort Baie Lazare starts at around EUR 410 a night, which makes it the entry point to the whole archipelago in our selection: across our eight Seychelles properties the range runs to around EUR 1,950, with a typical figure of around EUR 1,065. It is rated 4.1 in our own review and runs on GHA Discovery.

Its position is the practical argument. Baie Lazare lies around 10 kilometres from the international airport as the crow flies – so you arrive without a domestic flight, a ferry or a boat connection, which on the Seychelles is worth more than it sounds. One more thing worth knowing: our Mango House Seychelles is recorded at Anse Aux Poules Bleues, also at Baie Lazare, but sits on our Mahé page rather than this one. If you are comparing the bay, compare both.

What the Kempinski at Baie Lazare actually offers

For a single-property page the useful thing is detail rather than breadth, so here is what our data records.Personal luxury travel adviceOur travel advisors personally accompany your booking – 365 days a year, from the first offer to late check-out. Reach the suitespot VIP service via email or WhatsApp.Phone: +49 30 81452346 · hotel@suitespot.comAsk via WhatsAppWrite an emailThe resort lists 19 room entries, and they are sorted almost entirely by what you look at: Hill View, Sea View, Garden with a sea view, Superior with a hill view, and Deluxe categories facing either the lagoon or the ocean. Above those sit a Premier and the two suites named after the estate rather than numbered – The Plantation and The Picault.

That structure tells you something practical: at Baie Lazare the price difference between categories is largely a difference of outlook, not of size or of building. If the sea view is the reason you are booking, it is bookable rather than a matter of luck – but the category name does not tell you the floor or the exact angle, and on a hillside resort that matters. Tell us if the view is the point and we will raise it with the hotel before you arrive.

With a suitespot booking the house includes breakfast for two, a hotel credit of up to USD 100 per stay, the room upgrade subject to availability and late check-out.

Baie Lazare on the map: the south-west coast of Mahé

Baie Lazare sits on Mahé’s south-west coast, the quieter side of the island away from Victoria and Beau Vallon. The distances below are straight-line figures calculated from our properties’ own coordinates.

The short version: this is the part of Mahé you choose when you want a beach and a hire car rather than a resort island.

The hotel at Baie Lazare

The Kempinski Seychelles Resort Baie Lazare is recorded with Mahé Island as its district, around 10.5 km from the international airport. From around EUR 410 a night, rated 4.1, on GHA Discovery, with 19 room entries from Hill View up to The Plantation and The Picault.

The neighbour in the same bay

Mango House Seychelles, an LXR property, is recorded at Anse Aux Poules Bleues, Baie Lazare – the same bay, around 9.5 km from the airport, from around EUR 477 a night and rated 4.5. In our data it belongs to the Mahé page rather than this one, so you will not find it in the list below. It is also the only property in the whole of the Seychelles with a dedicated family category (Bay Family). If you are choosing a hotel by the bay rather than by our page structure, you should have both in front of you.

The rest of Mahé

Further up the west coast, the Anantara Maia Seychelles Villas at Anse Louis (around 6.7 km from the airport, from around EUR 1,950) completes our Mahé selection. Together the three cover a range from around EUR 410 to EUR 1,950 on a single coastline – almost a fivefold spread within a few kilometres.

Why Baie Lazare works as a base

The argument for this bay is not exclusivity but access. Baie Lazare is on Mahé, which means you arrive at the international airport and drive – no domestic flight, no ferry, no boat that runs to a timetable. On an archipelago where most resorts add a connection, that saves a half-day in each direction.

It also means the island is yours to use. Mahé has roads, villages, other beaches and Victoria, so with a hire car you are not tied to the resort restaurant – which matters, because no Seychelles property we feature has an all-inclusive rate with us. The prices you see are room rates, and on a resort island that is a real cost. At Baie Lazare it is a choice.

The trade-off is honest enough: this is the busiest island of the Seychelles, and if what you want is a private island with nothing else on it, Félicité or North Island deliver that and this bay does not. Our advisers will say so plainly if that is what you are after.

What a hotel at Baie Lazare costs

The Kempinski Seychelles Resort Baie Lazare starts at around EUR 410 a night. That is the lowest entry rate in our entire Seychelles selection, and it is worth seeing in context: across our eight Seychelles properties the range runs from that figure to around EUR 1,950, with a typical entry rate of around EUR 1,065. The second least expensive address, Mango House Seychelles, is in the same bay at around EUR 477.

Compared with the region, the Seychelles is an expensive destination and this is where that changes least painfully. Our 38 Maldives resorts start at around EUR 355 with a typical figure of around EUR 828; the Seychelles has almost no inexpensive segment at all, and Baie Lazare is the exception rather than the rule.

The rates valid today, including your suitespot benefits, are shown with the property below. If your dates are flexible, ask us about the length-of-stay offers elsewhere on Mahé – Mango House currently discounts from three nights, which can close the gap between the two houses in this bay entirely.

Exclusive experiences & premium services

The Kempinski Seychelles Resort Baie Lazare runs on GHA Discovery, so points and status in that programme apply as normal on a suitespot booking – our rates are genuine direct rates. At a hillside resort sorted by outlook, the request worth making is the position – the categories distinguish hill, garden, sea, lagoon and ocean views, but not the floor or the angle. The second is the arrival: long-haul flights reach Mahé in the early morning, well before check-in, so tell us your flight number and we will ask for an early room where the hotel can offer one. Our own review of the house stands at 4.1.

Frequently asked questions about luxury hotels in Baie Lazare

How much does the hotel at Baie Lazare cost?

The Kempinski Seychelles Resort Baie Lazare starts at around EUR 410 a night – the lowest entry rate in our entire Seychelles selection. For context, across our eight Seychelles properties the range runs to around EUR 1,950 with a typical figure of around EUR 1,065, and the second least expensive address, Mango House Seychelles, is in the same bay at around EUR 477. Rates change daily; the current one including your suitespot benefits is shown below.

Do I earn points and keep my status on suitespot bookings?

Yes. suitespot rates are genuine direct rates: you earn regular points and elite nights and your status benefits stay intact. The Kempinski Seychelles Resort Baie Lazare runs on GHA Discovery. The suitespot benefits – breakfast for two, a hotel credit of up to USD 100 per stay, the upgrade and late check-out – come on top of your status benefits.

How many hotels do you have at Baie Lazare?

One on this page: the Kempinski Seychelles Resort Baie Lazare. But there is a second property in the same bay you should know about – Mango House Seychelles, an LXR property recorded at Anse Aux Poules Bleues, Baie Lazare, from around EUR 477 a night and rated 4.5. In our data it belongs to the Mahé page rather than this one, so it does not appear in the list below. If you are choosing by the bay, ask us for both.

What room categories does the Kempinski at Baie Lazare have?

Our data records 19 room entries, sorted almost entirely by outlook: Hill View, Sea View, Garden with a sea view, Superior with a hill view, and Deluxe categories facing the lagoon or the ocean. Above them sit a Premier and two suites named after the estate, The Plantation and The Picault. The category tells you the direction but not the floor or the angle – on a hillside resort that is worth requesting, and we will do it for you before arrival.

How far is Baie Lazare from the airport?

Around 10.5 kilometres in a straight line from the international airport on Mahé, calculated from the hotel’s own coordinates. The decisive point is not the distance but that there is no second connection: no domestic flight, no ferry, no boat. On an archipelago where most resorts add a scheduled leg, arriving on the same day is a real advantage – particularly on a short stay.

Is the hotel at Baie Lazare all-inclusive?

No, and nor is any other Seychelles property we feature: the prices you see with us are room rates. Included with a suitespot booking are breakfast for two and a hotel credit of up to USD 100 per stay. Baie Lazare is one of the places where that matters least, because you are on Mahé – with a hire car you can eat outside the resort, which is not an option on the smaller islands. If you would still prefer half board, ask us and we will price it with the hotel.

Baie Lazare or one of the private islands?

It depends what the trip is for. Baie Lazare gives you a beach on Mahé, no second transfer, the island to explore and our lowest Seychelles entry rate. A private island – Six Senses Zil Pasyon on Félicité or North Island Seychelles – gives you seclusion and nothing else within reach, at a considerably higher rate and with a boat or helicopter connection on top of your arrival. Both are legitimate holidays; they are not the same holiday, and our advisers will say which one your plans actually describe.

Which part of Mahé should I stay in?

All three of our Mahé properties are on the south-west coast and within a few kilometres of each other: the Kempinski at Baie Lazare (from around EUR 410, rated 4.1), Mango House Seychelles in the same bay at Anse Aux Poules Bleues (from around EUR 477, rated 4.5) and the Anantara Maia Seychelles Villas at Anse Louis (from around EUR 1,950). That is almost a fivefold spread on one coastline, so the choice here really is about budget and style rather than about location.
