Your guide to the best luxury hotels in Montenegro

Our Montenegro selection holds seven properties in the 5-star category – and they share a trait we find nowhere else this clearly: more than half of all accommodation categories are suites. One&Only PortonoviOne&Only PortonoviWith every booking through suitespot you receive:
  • Breakfast for two – at all seven properties
  • Early check-in & late check-out – likewise at all seven
  • Room upgrade – at six, and at the seventh in a different form
  • Hotel credit at five of the seven
  • Complimentary internet at five

The most affordable start is Hyatt Regency Kotor Bay at around €154 per night; at the top end sits Mamula Island by Banyan Tree at around €592. A typical rate in Montenegro is about €321.

Just under a factor of four separates cheapest from dearest.

The difference that matters more in practice, though, is not the price but what you get for it.

Where to stay in Montenegro – and why a suite is the norm here

Across our seven Montenegrin properties sit 113 accommodation categories – and 65 of them are suites. That is almost six in ten.Hyatt Regency Kotor BayHyatt Regency Kotor BayFor you that means something very concrete: a suite here is not an exception you have to hunt for but the norm. And because a room upgrade is included at six of our seven properties, it lands in one correspondingly often.Personal luxury travel adviceOur travel advisors personally accompany your booking – 365 days a year, from the first offer to late check-out. The locations spread along the coast, and no two properties share a place: Mamula Island and Portonovi near Herceg Novi, Sveti Stefan, Drobnići near Budva, Radovići on Luštica Bay, Tivat and Kotor.

Seven properties, seven places – so if you want to combine several stops, you will not see the same thing twice.

suitespot rates are full direct rates: the benefits are added to the regular rate.

The seven properties

We sort them by entry rate.

Mamula Island by Banyan Tree – from around 592 €

The dearest property in our selection sits on Mamula Island near Herceg Novi and belongs to ALL (Accor). It carries a 100 USD hotel credit, regular points, a welcome gift, complimentary internet and the upgrade on arrival.Regent Porto MontenegroRegent Porto MontenegroWith six accommodation categories it is the smallest property in the country; four of them are suites, at 46 to 94 m² the most compact areas in the selection.

Villa Geba Sveti Stefan – from around 423 €

The property in Sveti Stefan belongs to no loyalty programme and carries a 50 USD hotel credit plus complimentary internet.

Of eight categories, seven are suites, at 35 to 180 m² – the highest suite share in the country.

A note on the minimum stay: this property's benefit list names two nights, while its booking field reads zero. We confirm the actual condition before you book.

One&Only Portonovi – from around 417 €

The property in Portonovi near Herceg Novi belongs to no loyalty programme but carries the most generous credit in the selection: a 100 USD hotel credit – and from the Panoramic Bayview Suite category a further 100 USD for food and drink is added.

Of 19 categories, eleven are suites. Areas run from 55 to 463 m², the upper values belonging to the suites and not comparable with a room.

ĀNANTI Resort Residences – from around 321 €

The property in Drobnići near Budva belongs to the Leaders Club and credits its points at the time of booking, not after the stay. Added to that are complimentary internet, the upgrade and expressly no minimum stay.

Of nine categories, eight are suites. Areas run from 40 to 540 m² – the larger figures belong to the residences and are not room categories.

The property carries no hotel credit.

Regent Porto Montenegro – from around 290 €

The property in Tivat belongs to IHG One Rewards and carries a 100 USD hotel credit, regular points and the upgrade.

With 43 accommodation categories it is the largest property in the country; 22 of them are suites, at 28 to 185 m².

It carries neither complimentary internet nor a welcome gift.

The Chedi Luštica Bay – from around 199 €

The property in Radovići on Luštica Bay also belongs to the Leaders Club and carries exactly the same benefit list as the ĀNANTI: points at booking, complimentary internet, upgrade, no minimum stay, no credit.

Between the two properties lie around 122 €, though – with the same package, what decides here is the setting and the property, not what is included.

Of ten categories, five are suites, at 43 to 165 m².

Hyatt Regency Kotor Bay – from around 154 €

The property in Kotor is the cheapest entry in the country, belongs to World of Hyatt and carries a 100 USD hotel credit, points, a welcome gift and complimentary internet.

It is the only property without an upgrade on arrival – and that is not a shortfall but a different promise: it carries an upgrade confirmed at booking. With an upgrade subject to availability you find out on the day of arrival whether it works; here the category is fixed beforehand.

Of 18 categories, eight are suites, at 22 to 166 m². On the minimum stay: here the booking field reads two nights while the benefit list says nothing about it – we settle that for you before booking.

What a night costs

Entry rates across our seven properties run from around 154 € at the Hyatt Regency Kotor Bay to around 592 € at the Mamula Island by Banyan Tree. The median entry is about 321 €.Villa Geba Sveti StefanVilla Geba Sveti StefanThe field is evenly filled: 154, 199, 290, 321, 417, 423 and 592 € – there is neither a crowd at the bottom nor an outlier at the top. For a destination of this size that is unusual; normally several properties sit close together and one far above.

Two observations are worth making:

The ĀNANTI Resort Residences (321 €) and The Chedi Luštica Bay (199 €) carry exactly the same benefit list – both in the Leaders Club, both with points at booking, both without a credit. Around 122 € separate them, which you are therefore not paying for what is included.

The cheapest property carries one of the strongest packages: the Hyatt Regency Kotor Bay (154 €) brings a 100 USD credit, points, a welcome gift, internet and an upgrade confirmed at booking. The package does not automatically get better as you go up.

We can only speak for our own inventory and cannot rank Montenegro.

Programmes, credits and the upgrade that works differently

Five of our seven properties belong to a loyalty programme, and to four different ones.

The Leaders Club with two properties (The Chedi Luštica Bay, ĀNANTI Resort Residences).
ALL (Accor) with one (Mamula Island by Banyan Tree).
IHG One Rewards with one (Regent Porto Montenegro).
World of Hyatt with one (Hyatt Regency Kotor Bay).

Two properties belong to none: the One&Only Portonovi and the Villa Geba Sveti Stefan.

The Leaders Club has one distinctive feature that applies at both properties: the points are credited at the time of booking, not after the stay.

A hotel credit is carried by five of the seven. Four times it is 100 USD – at the Mamula Island, the One&Only Portonovi, the Regent Porto Montenegro and the Hyatt Regency Kotor Bay. Once it is 50 USD, at the Villa Geba Sveti Stefan.

The most generous credit is at the One&Only Portonovi: on top of the 100 USD, from the Panoramic Bayview Suite category a further 100 USD for food and drink is added. We name that condition because it is tied to the category booked.

No credit is carried by the ĀNANTI and The Chedi – the same two that credit their Leaders Club points at booking instead.

On the upgrade: six of the seven carry it on arrival, subject to availability. The Hyatt Regency Kotor Bay carries it at booking instead – bindingly beforehand rather than maybe afterwards.

Suites and sizes in detail

65 of 113 accommodation categories are suites – almost six in ten.Personal luxury travel adviceOur travel advisors personally accompany your booking – 365 days a year, from the first offer to late check-out. Reach the suitespot VIP service via email or WhatsApp.Phone: +49 30 81452346 · hotel@suitespot.comAsk via WhatsAppWrite an emailMost are at the Regent Porto Montenegro: 22 of 43 categories, which also makes it the largest property in the country. Then the One&Only Portonovi with eleven of 19, the ĀNANTI Resort Residences with eight of nine and the Hyatt Regency Kotor Bay with eight of 18.

Proportionally the highest are two smaller properties: the ĀNANTI with eight of nine and the Villa Geba Sveti Stefan with seven of eight.

On sizes we place the upper values in context rather than selling them as a room range. The ĀNANTI runs from 40 to 540 m², the large areas belonging to the residences. The One&Only Portonovi runs from 55 to 463 m², the upper values being suites.

The remaining ranges: Regent Porto Montenegro 28 to 185 m², Villa Geba 35 to 180 m², Hyatt Regency Kotor Bay 22 to 166 m², The Chedi Luštica Bay 43 to 165 m² and Mamula Island 46 to 94 m².

Unlike at many other destinations, we hold size figures for all seven properties here – that is not a given, and it is the reason we set them out at this length at all.

As a suitespot guest you travel with VIP status: we register your preferences with the property before arrival.

In Montenegro what our travel advisors most often take on is exactly what this page names openly: settling the minimum stay at the two properties whose records contradict each other – and the question of which suite category an upgrade can realistically reach.

Frequently asked questions about luxury hotels in Montenegro

How much does a luxury hotel in Montenegro cost?

Entry rates across our seven properties run from around 154 € at the Hyatt Regency Kotor Bay to around 592 € at the Mamula Island by Banyan Tree per night. The median entry is about 321 €.

The field is evenly filled: 154, 199, 290, 321, 417, 423 and 592 € – no crowd at the bottom, no outlier at the top.

Worth noting: the cheapest property carries one of the strongest packages, with a 100 USD credit, points, a welcome gift and internet.

Where should you stay in Montenegro?

Our seven properties are spread across seven different places – no two share a location.

Mamula Island and Portonovi near Herceg Novi (Mamula Island by Banyan Tree, One&Only Portonovi) · Sveti Stefan (Villa Geba) · Drobnići near Budva (ĀNANTI Resort Residences) · Radovići on Luštica Bay (The Chedi) · Tivat (Regent Porto Montenegro) · Kotor (Hyatt Regency Kotor Bay).

So if you want to combine several stops, you will not see the same thing twice. Which sequence works for your dates is something our travel advisors will gladly assemble with you.

Why are there so many suites in Montenegro?

We can only speak for our own inventory – and there the share is striking: 65 of 113 accommodation categories are suites, almost six in ten.

Two properties consist almost entirely of suites: the Villa Geba Sveti Stefan with seven of eight categories and the ĀNANTI Resort Residences with eight of nine.

For you that means: a suite here is not a special case. And because a room upgrade is included at six of our seven properties, it lands in one correspondingly often.

Do I earn points on suitespot bookings in Montenegro?

At five of the seven properties, in four different programmes: the Leaders Club (The Chedi Luštica Bay, ĀNANTI Resort Residences), ALL (Accor) (Mamula Island by Banyan Tree), IHG One Rewards (Regent Porto Montenegro) and World of Hyatt (Hyatt Regency Kotor Bay).

Two properties belong to no programme: the One&Only Portonovi and the Villa Geba Sveti Stefan.

At the Leaders Club the points are credited at the time of booking, not after the stay.

Is there a hotel credit in Montenegro?

At five of the seven properties. Four times it is 100 USD – at the Mamula Island by Banyan Tree, the One&Only Portonovi, the Regent Porto Montenegro and the Hyatt Regency Kotor Bay. Once it is 50 USD, at the Villa Geba Sveti Stefan.

The most generous is the One&Only Portonovi: on top of the 100 USD, from the Panoramic Bayview Suite category a further 100 USD for food and drink is added.

No credit is carried by the ĀNANTI Resort Residences and The Chedi Luštica Bay – but both credit their Leaders Club points at booking.

Why does the Hyatt Regency Kotor Bay not offer an upgrade on arrival?

Because it carries a different upgrade: the Hyatt Regency Kotor Bay confirms the upgrade at the time of booking, rather than on arrival subject to availability.

The difference is practical: with an upgrade subject to availability you only find out on the day of arrival whether it works. With an upgrade at booking the category is fixed beforehand.

So it is not a weaker promise but a different one – and depending on the occasion, the more dependable. The other six properties carry the upgrade on arrival.

Is there a minimum stay in Montenegro?

At two properties our sources contradict each other, and we would rather tell you that than claim a number.

At the Villa Geba Sveti Stefan the benefit list names two nights, but the booking field reads zero.

At the Hyatt Regency Kotor Bay it is the other way round: the field says two nights, the benefit list says nothing about it.

At the other five the field reads zero; the ĀNANTI and The Chedi expressly carry no minimum stay.

We confirm the actual condition for your dates before you book.

Which hotel in Montenegro has the most suites?

The Regent Porto Montenegro in Tivat, with 22 suites among 43 accommodation categories – it is at the same time the largest property in our Montenegro selection.

Then the One&Only Portonovi with eleven of 19, the ĀNANTI Resort Residences with eight of nine and the Hyatt Regency Kotor Bay with eight of 18.

Proportionally the highest, though, are two smaller properties: the Villa Geba Sveti Stefan with seven of eight categories and the ĀNANTI with eight of nine.
