The two most expensive: Itacaré and Iguaçu
The Barracuda Hotel Itacaré Bahia (from around 679 €) is the most expensive property in our Brazilian selection. Its room structure is remarkable: all eleven categories are recorded by us as suites. It belongs to no points programme and brings a hotel credit of 50 USD.Belmond Copacabana Palace Rio de JaneiroThe Belmond Hotel das Cataratas (from around 551 €) stands in the Iguaçu National Park and is one of only two Brazilian properties with the Belmond package. Twelve of its 15 categories are suites, with sizes from 18 to 164 m².
Coast and south: Ponta dos Ganchos, Kenoa and Paru
The Ponta dos Ganchos Resort in Governador Celso Ramos (from around 511 €) belongs to the Leaders Club, the programme of the Leading Hotels of the World. Our data records a single category at 96 m².
The Kenoa Exclusive Beach Resort in Barramar (from around 424 €) belongs to no programme, brings 50 USD hotel credit and records sizes from 45 to 200 m².
The Paru Boutique Hotel Passo de Camaragibe (from around 374 €) belongs to I Prefer. As at the Barracuda, all of its categories are suites – here five of five, at 35 to 198 m².
And the lowest entry in the country: Salvador
The Fera Palace Hotel Salvador (from around 148 €) is the only one of the six below the national median – and by a clear margin the lowest entry in our Brazilian selection. It belongs to I Prefer and carries a hotel credit of 100 USD.

Entry rates across our 21 properties run from around 148 € at the Fera Palace Hotel Salvador to around 679 € at the Barracuda Hotel Itacaré Bahia. In between: Renaissance São Paulo (around 277 €), JW Marriott Hotel Sao Paulo (around 279 €), W São Paulo (around 304 €), Tivoli Mofarrej São Paulo (around 307 €), Pulso Hotel Sao Paulo (around 365 €), Emiliano São Paulo (around 518 €) and Hotel Unique São Paulo (around 518 €). The middle of these nine properties sits at around 307 €.
In Rio de Janeiro we hold six properties, from around 196 € at the Grand Hyatt Rio de Janeiro to around 500 € at the Emiliano Rio de Janeiro. In between: JW Marriott Rio de Janeiro (around 207 €), Rio Santa Teresa (around 219 €), Fairmont Rio de Janeiro Copacabana (around 276 €) and the Belmond Copacabana Palace Rio de Janeiro (around 374 €). The middle of these six properties sits at around 247 € – which makes Rio the most affordable place in Brazil where we hold more than one property.
Even the most expensive property in Rio does not reach the national top: the Emiliano Rio de Janeiro at around 500 € ranks only seventh across the country.

Seven properties belong to no programme: the Barracuda Hotel Itacaré Bahia, the Rosewood Sao Paulo, the Belmond Hotel das Cataratas, the Emiliano São Paulo, the Emiliano Rio de Janeiro, the Kenoa Exclusive Beach Resort and the Belmond Copacabana Palace Rio de Janeiro.
A hotel credit comes with 16 of the 21 properties. In 14 of them it is at least 100 USD; at the Barracuda Hotel Itacaré Bahia and the Kenoa Exclusive Beach Resort it is 50 USD.
Four properties stack. The Emiliano Rio de Janeiro and the Emiliano São Paulo each carry 100 USD plus 50 USD. The Fairmont Rio de Janeiro Copacabana carries 100 USD and a further 100 USD for food and beverage or the spa. The Hotel Unique São Paulo and the Rosewood Sao Paulo combine two credit entries.
Five properties carry no credit at all: the JW Marriott Hotel Sao Paulo, the JW Marriott Rio de Janeiro, the Ponta dos Ganchos Resort, the Renaissance São Paulo and the Tivoli Mofarrej São Paulo. The first four bring points instead.
Two addresses carry the Belmond package: the Belmond Copacabana Palace Rio de Janeiro and the Belmond Hotel das Cataratas. It includes a hotel credit of 100 USD rising to 220 USD from a suite, plus a 500 USD voucher towards the next Belmond booking from a booking value of 10,000 USD. They are also the only two properties in the country with complimentary spa and fitness access and a tennis court in the benefit list.
An upgrade comes with all 21 properties – in 19 of them on arrival, at the two Grand Hyatt properties already at the time of booking.
Suites, room sizes and a minimum stay that contradicts itself
In our room data, 109 of the 295 categories are expressly recorded as suites – more than one in three. The most suites are at the Belmond Copacabana Palace Rio de Janeiro: 20 of 29 categories. Then follow the Renaissance São Paulo with 14 of 30, the Belmond Hotel das Cataratas with twelve of 15, and two properties where every category is a suite: the Barracuda Hotel Itacaré Bahia (eleven of eleven) and the Paru Boutique Hotel Passo de Camaragibe (five of five).
