Your guide to the best luxury resorts in Belize

Our Belize selection holds seven properties in the 5-star categoryfour on Ambergris Caye and three away from the island.Alaia BelizeAlaia Belize · San PedroWith every booking through suitespot you receive:
  • Early check-in & late check-out – at all seven properties
  • Room upgrade subject to availability – likewise at all seven
  • Breakfast for two – also at all seven, in two different forms
  • Hotel credit at six of the seven

Six of the seven properties carry a published entry rate: around 224 €, 236 €, 239 €, 290 €, 314 € and 366 € per night.

All six therefore sit within a span of 142 €.

And of all properties, the seventh – the one we cannot quote a rate for – carries the rarest benefit in the country.

142 euros separate six properties – and the seventh has no rate

Belize has no price ladder in our selection. Between the cheapest and the dearest property with a published rate lie around 142 € – a factor of 1.6. No property starts above 400 €.Gaïa RiverlodgeGaïa Riverlodge · Mountain Pine RidgePrice therefore barely helps you decide here, which makes two other things worth a close look: where a property sits and what is in its rate.Personal luxury travel adviceOur travel advisors personally accompany your booking – 365 days a year, from the first offer to late check-out. Reach the suitespot VIP service via email or WhatsApp.Phone: +49 30 81452346 · hotel@suitespot.comAsk via WhatsAppWrite an emailOn location the selection splits clearly. Four properties sit on Ambergris Caye – the Matachica Resort, the Las Terrazas Resort & Residences, the Alaia Belize and the Victoria House. Three sit elsewhere: the Gaïa Riverlodge in the Mountain Pine Ridge forest reserve, the Ka'ana Resort near San Ignacio and the Itz'ana Resort in Placencia.

And price does not separate those either: on the island entry rates run from around 224 € to around 366 €, away from it from around 236 € to around 314 €. The bands overlap almost entirely.

For the Victoria House on Ambergris Caye we hold no published rate. That is unsatisfying, and we write it here rather than in a footnote – because of all properties, this one brings the country's most unusual benefits. More on it below.

suitespot rates are full direct rates: the benefits are added to the regular rate.

The seven properties

We sort them by location, because it says more here than price does.

On Ambergris Caye: four properties

The Matachica Resort (from around 366 €) is the dearest entry in the country, belongs to no loyalty programme and carries breakfast for two, a 50 USD hotel credit and complimentary internet. Of eight categories, six are suites, at 33 to 232 m².Victoria HouseVictoria House · San PedroThe Las Terrazas Resort & Residences (from around 290 €) belongs to I Prefer and carries regular points as well as a 100 USD hotel credit. Its breakfast applies in one particular restaurant of the property – we name that because the data states it expressly. It holds 23 categories, at 35 to 195 m².

The Alaia Belize (from around 224 €) is the cheapest entry in the country, belongs to Marriott Bonvoy and carries points, a welcome gift, complimentary internet and expressly no minimum stay. Of 25 categories, 20 are suites – the most in the country. We hold no size figures for them.

The Victoria House follows in a section of its own: for this property we hold no published rate.

Away from the island: three properties

The Gaïa Riverlodge in the Mountain Pine Ridge forest reserve (from around 314 €) belongs to no programme and carries breakfast for two, a 50 USD hotel credit and complimentary internet. It holds four accommodation categories, at 30 to 149 m².

The Ka'ana Resort near San Ignacio (from around 239 €) belongs to no programme and is the only property in the country bringing a complimentary lunch or dinner for two – a benefit carried by 48 of our 4,856 properties. It is tied to particular accommodation categories, though, and its breakfast likewise applies in one particular restaurant.

On this property's credit a close look pays: in our data the entry is recorded at 50 USD, although the general label reads 100 USD. It is 50. The property holds eleven categories, at 28 to 500 m², the upper values belonging to the larger units.

The Itz'ana Resort in Placencia (from around 236 €) belongs to no programme and is the only property in the country with a 100 USD credit for food and drink. Added to that are a welcome gift and a continental breakfast in one particular restaurant. It carries no complimentary internet.

The Victoria House – no rate, and the rarest benefit in the country

For the Victoria House on Ambergris Caye we hold no published entry rate. We quote it on request.

What is notable is what this property brings, because it is the outlier of the selection in more than one way:

It carries a 15 per cent discount on spa treatments – a benefit that exists only nine times among the 4,856 properties in our entire inventory.
It carries a welcome drink, which 40 of our properties carry.
And it is the only property in the country with two hotel credits at once: 100 USD and a further 50 USD.

Of 14 accommodation categories, eleven are suites, at 28 to 465 m². It carries no loyalty programme and no separate breakfast for two; a continental breakfast is included.

What a night costs

Six of our seven properties carry a published entry rate: around 224 € at the Alaia Belize, around 236 € at the Itz'ana Resort, around 239 € at the Ka'ana Resort, around 290 € at the Las Terrazas Resort & Residences, around 314 € at the Gaïa Riverlodge and around 366 € at the Matachica Resort. The median entry is about 264 €.Matachica Resort Ambergris CayeMatachica Resort Ambergris CayeAll six sit within 142 €. For a whole country that is an unusually narrow field – and it means price barely helps you choose.

Location does not separate them on price either. The four properties on Ambergris Caye with a rate run from 224 € to 366 €, the three away from the island from 236 € to 314 €. Weighing the island against the interior is therefore not a matter of budget against budget.

Where the differences actually sit is the package – and in Belize those differ strikingly: two properties carry a loyalty programme, five do not. Three carry complimentary internet, four do not. And one carries two credits at once while another carries none at all.

For the Victoria House we hold no published rate; we quote it on request.

We can only speak for our own inventory and cannot rank Belize.

Programmes, credits and an amount that is not what it is called

Only two of our seven properties belong to a loyalty programme: the Las Terrazas Resort & Residences with I Prefer and the Alaia Belize with Marriott Bonvoy. The other five belong to none.

For you that means: in Belize, for most properties what is in the rate is the entire value of your booking.

A hotel credit is carried by six of the seven – and the amounts differ more than the labels suggest:

100 USD at the Las Terrazas and the Victoria House.
50 USD at the Matachica Resort, the Gaïa Riverlodge and – on top of its 100 USD – the Victoria House.
100 USD for food and drink at the Itz'ana Resort.

And at the Ka'ana Resort we name a divergence expressly: the general label of this entry reads 100 USD, but for this property it is recorded in our data at 50 USD. It is 50, and we would rather say so beforehand than let you find out on site.

The Alaia Belize carries no credit at all – but points, a welcome gift, internet and expressly no minimum stay.

Breakfast comes in two forms: five properties carry a breakfast for two, two an expressly continental one. At three properties it additionally applies in one particular restaurant.

Complimentary internet is carried by only three of the seven.

Suites, sizes and the minimum stay

In our room data 50 of the 96 accommodation categories are expressly recorded as suites – that, though, is the floor, not the ceiling.Personal luxury travel adviceOur travel advisors personally accompany your booking – 365 days a year, from the first offer to late check-out. Reach the suitespot VIP service via email or WhatsApp.Phone: +49 30 81452346 · hotel@suitespot.comAsk via WhatsAppWrite an emailThe reason belongs with it: 32 of the 96 categories are not typed as room or suite in our data at all. Affected above all are the Itz'ana Resort, where none of the eleven categories is typed, along with the Las Terrazas with 15 and the Ka'ana Resort with six untyped categories.

Where the records are solid: the Alaia Belize holds 20 suites among 25 categories – the most in the country. Then the Victoria House with eleven of 14 and the Matachica Resort with six of eight.

On sizes we give: Matachica 33 to 232 m², Gaïa Riverlodge 30 to 149 m², Las Terrazas 35 to 195 m², Ka'ana Resort 28 to 500 m² and Victoria House 28 to 465 m². The upper values there belong to the larger units and are not comparable with a room.

For two properties we give no sizes: for the Alaia Belize we hold a figure for no category at all. And at the Itz'ana Resort the maximum value recorded is plainly impossible for an accommodation – we would rather give no figure than a wrong one.

On the minimum stay our sources diverge. The booking field reads zero at all seven properties. The benefit lists say otherwise at two: the Matachica Resort and the Gaïa Riverlodge expressly carry two nights. Conversely the Alaia Belize expressly carries no minimum stay. We confirm the actual condition for your dates before you book.

As a suitespot guest you travel with VIP status: we register your preferences with the property before arrival.

In Belize what our travel advisors most often take on is exactly what this page names openly: the quote for the property without a published rate – and the split between Ambergris Caye and the interior.

Frequently asked questions about luxury hotels in Belize

How much does a luxury resort in Belize cost?

Six of our seven properties carry a published entry rate: around 224 € at the Alaia Belize, 236 € at the Itz'ana Resort, 239 € at the Ka'ana Resort, 290 € at the Las Terrazas, 314 € at the Gaïa Riverlodge and 366 € at the Matachica Resort. The median entry is about 264 €.

All six sit within 142 € – no property starts above 400 €.

For the Victoria House we hold no published rate; we quote it on request.

Ambergris Caye or the interior – which is cheaper?

On price there is barely anything in it. The four properties on Ambergris Caye with a published rate run from around 224 € to around 366 €. The three away from the island – Gaïa Riverlodge, Ka'ana Resort and Itz'ana Resort – run from around 236 € to around 314 €.

The bands overlap almost entirely. So you are not weighing budget against budget but setting against setting – and package against package.

Which property in Belize has the most unusual benefits?

The Victoria House on Ambergris Caye – of all properties, the one for which we hold no published rate.

It brings a 15 per cent discount on spa treatments, a benefit that exists only nine times among the 4,856 properties in our entire inventory. Added to that a welcome drink (40 of 4,856) – and, uniquely in the country, two hotel credits at once: 100 USD and a further 50 USD.

Of 14 accommodation categories, eleven are suites, at 28 to 465 m². We quote the property on request.

Do I earn points on suitespot bookings in Belize?

At only two of the seven properties: the Las Terrazas Resort & Residences with I Prefer and the Alaia Belize with Marriott Bonvoy. The other five belong to no programme.

For you that means: in Belize, for most properties what is in the rate is the entire value of your booking.

And that package is substantial: early check-in and late check-out and a room upgrade subject to availability are included at all seven, as is a breakfast.

Is there a hotel credit in Belize?

At six of the seven properties, and the amounts differ:

100 USD at the Las Terrazas Resort & Residences and the Victoria House. 50 USD at the Matachica Resort, the Gaïa Riverlodge and – additionally – the Victoria House. 100 USD for food and drink at the Itz'ana Resort.

At the Ka'ana Resort we name a divergence expressly: the general label of the entry reads 100 USD, but for this property 50 USD is recorded. It is 50.

The Alaia Belize carries no credit at all – but points and a welcome gift.

Which property in Belize has the most suites?

The Alaia Belize on Ambergris Caye, with 20 suites among 25 accommodation categories. Then the Victoria House with eleven of 14 and the Matachica Resort with six of eight.

We give a total with a qualification: in our data 50 of the 96 categories are expressly recorded as suites – but 32 categories are not typed at all, at the Itz'ana Resort even all eleven.

The 50 is therefore the floor, not the ceiling.

Do the properties in Belize have complimentary internet?

Only three of the seven: the Matachica Resort, the Gaïa Riverlodge and the Alaia Belize.

It is missing at the Las Terrazas Resort & Residences, the Ka'ana Resort, the Itz'ana Resort and the Victoria House.

We say so openly, because it surprises. If you need to stay reachable while travelling, tell us before booking; we will clarify for your chosen property what is actually available and what it costs.

Is there a minimum stay in Belize?

Our sources diverge, and we would rather tell you that than claim a number.

The booking field reads zero at all seven properties. The benefit lists say otherwise at two: the Matachica Resort and the Gaïa Riverlodge expressly carry two nights.

Conversely the Alaia Belize expressly carries no minimum stay – a single night is therefore possible there.

We confirm the actual condition for your dates before you book.
