Mandarin Oriental Ritz Madrid · Im Goldenen Dreieck der KunstWith every booking through suitespot you enjoy a comprehensive package of suitespot benefits:Madrid's best-known properties stand on the Paseo del Prado and around the Plaza de las Cortes: the Mandarin Oriental Ritz on Plaza de la Lealtad (from around 530 €, rated 4.5), The Palace opposite parliament (380 €), the Hotel Palacio del Retiro by the Retiro park (370 €) and the Hotel Villa Real (170 €).
The second axis is the Paseo de la Castellana, with the Rosewood Villa Magna (570 €) – the city's most expensive address – and the Hyatt Regency Hesperia (190 €). In the elegant Salamanca district follow the JW Marriott (420 €), the Hotel Único (340 €), the BLESS Hotel (340 €) and the Hotel Wellington (300 €); in the quiet streets of Almagro, the Hotel Santo Mauro (490 €) and the Hotel Orfila (420 €). Right on the Gran Vía stand the Hyatt Centric, the Círculo Gran Vía and the Nômade Temple.
Madrid is a city of town palaces – and that shapes its suites: many of the best categories are not in towers but on the piano nobile of historic buildings.
The Madrid EDITION · InnenstadtThe most ambitious belong to the Mandarin Oriental Ritz on Plaza de la Lealtad, whose suites rank among the most elaborate in the city since its reopening. It is followed by the Rosewood Villa Magna on the Paseo de la Castellana (from around 570 €) and the Hotel Santo Mauro in Almagro (490 €), housed in a 19th-century palace with its own garden.Personal luxury travel adviceOur travel advisors personally accompany your booking – 365 days a year, from the first offer to late check-out. Reach the suitespot VIP service via email or WhatsApp.Phone: +49 30 81452346 · hotel@suitespot.comCharacterful and considerably smaller are the Hotel Orfila (420 €), also a town palace, the Gran Hotel Inglés in the Barrio de las Letras (430 €) – Madrid's oldest hotel – and the Hotel Palacio del Retiro in a listed palace beside the park (370 €).
For couples, these small properties are the obvious choice: central, but rarely more than fifty rooms. Tell our travel advisors the occasion – we register it with the hotel before arrival, and in practice that leads to an upgrade more often than any booking request does.
Madrid is remarkably compact on foot: twenty minutes from the Paseo del Prado to the Gran Vía, ten from the Retiro to Salamanca. The question of a hotel in the city centre therefore answers itself differently here than in Paris or London – almost all of our 32 properties sit within that radius. What matters is the character of the quarter: Salamanca is quiet and elegant, the Centro loud and lively, Almagro and Chamberí residential.
Second: nine of our 32 properties take part in no loyalty programme – several of the town palaces among them. Of the rest, Marriott Bonvoy leads with nine properties, followed by the Leaders Club (4) and World of Hyatt and iPrefer (3 each).
Third, on timing: Madrid is very hot in high summer and traditionally empties out in August – which is when rates are lowest. The most pleasant months are May, June, September and October.
Unlike many capitals, virtually all of Madrid's luxury hotels sit in the centre – the differences are a question of character, not distance.
Hyatt Centric Gran Via Madrid · StadtmitteThese five areas cover our portfolio.
Between the Prado, the Thyssen-Bornemisza and the Reina Sofía stand the most traditional properties: the Mandarin Oriental Ritz on Plaza de la Lealtad (from around 530 €, rated 4.5), The Palace on Plaza de las Cortes (380 €), the Hotel Villa Real opposite (170 €), the Hotel Palacio del Retiro by the park (370 €) and the Radisson Blu Madrid Prado (150 €). If the museums are your reason for coming, stay here.
East of the Retiro lies the district of boutiques and embassies: the JW Marriott (420 €), the Hotel Único on Calle Claudio Coello (340 €), the BLESS Hotel (340 €), the Gran Meliá Fénix on Plaza de Colón (300 €, rated 4.1), the Hotel Wellington (300 €) and the Hospes Puerta de Alcalá (280 €). Quiet, elegant and a ten-minute walk from the centre.
Around the Puerta del Sol and the Gran Vía: The Madrid EDITION on Plaza de Celenque (350 €), the Thompson Madrid on Plaza del Carmen (290 €), the Nômade Temple and the Círculo Gran Vía (410 and 290 €), the Hyatt Centric Gran Vía (280 €), The Principal (250 €), the Hotel Urban (220 €) and – as the most affordable addresses – the Casa de las Artes and the Marriott Princesa Plaza (150 € each).
North of the centre begins residential Madrid: the Hotel Santo Mauro in a palace with a garden (490 €), the Hotel Orfila (420 €), the Gran Hotel Inglés (430 €), the Heritage Madrid Hotel (370 €), the Only You Boutique Hotel in Justicia (280 €), the Urso Hotel (240 €) and the InterContinental Madrid on the Paseo de la Castellana (220 €).
Along the great north-south axis: the Rosewood Villa Magna (570 €, the city's most expensive address), the Hyatt Regency Hesperia (190 €) and, further north in the Tetuán office district, The Westin Madrid Cuzco (160 €). The most practical choice for meetings in the financial district and for the trade-fair grounds.
Madrid's speciality are its town palaces: converted 19th-century aristocratic residences, almost all with fewer than fifty rooms.
Hyatt Regency Hesperia Madrid · CastellanaThe Hotel Santo Mauro in Almagro was the residence of the Duke of Santo Mauro and is one of the few properties in the centre with its own garden (from around 490 €). The Hotel Orfila, a few streets away, is an 1886 palace with twenty rooms (420 €), and the Hotel Palacio del Retiro a listed building right by the park (370 €).
The Gran Hotel Inglés in the Barrio de las Letras is Madrid's oldest hotel and was completely rebuilt a few years ago (430 €). Smaller and more contemporary are the Hotel Único in Salamanca (340 €), the El Autor Hotel (340 €), the Only You Boutique in Justicia (280 €) and the Urso Hotel (240 €).
These properties sit between 240 and 490 € per night – broadly the same bracket as the international brands, but with far fewer rooms and correspondingly more personal service.
Ask for the most exclusive hotel in Madrid and the answer usually comes down to two properties – one on the Paseo de la Castellana, one on the Paseo del Prado.
The highest entry rate belongs to the Rosewood Villa Magna at around 570 € per night, closely followed by the Mandarin Oriental Ritz (530 €), which at 4.5 is also our highest-rated property in the city. Then come the Hotel Santo Mauro (490 €), the Gran Hotel Inglés (430 €), the JW Marriott and the Hotel Orfila (420 € each) and the Nômade Temple (410 €).
At the other end, the Casa de las Artes, the Marriott Princesa Plaza and the Radisson Blu Prado start at around 150 €, the Westin Madrid Cuzco at 160 € and the Hotel Villa Real at 170 € – the last of these in a prime position opposite parliament.
The median entry rate is about 300 € per night. That makes Madrid dearer than Barcelona (260 €) but well below Paris, London or Rome – and with a factor of 3.7 between cheapest and dearest, its price range is the narrowest of the major European capitals in our portfolio. Put differently: in Madrid there is hardly a property that falls completely outside the frame.
What our travel advisors arrange most often in Madrid are guided visits to the Prado and the Reina Sofía outside peak hours, and tables at the restaurants that take no online bookings – Madrid dines late, and the sought-after slots from 9 pm onwards go early.Personal luxury travel adviceOur travel advisors personally accompany your booking – 365 days a year, from the first offer to late check-out. Reach the suitespot VIP service via email or WhatsApp.Phone: +49 30 81452346 · hotel@suitespot.comOn location: from the Paseo del Prado all three major museums are within walking distance; from the Centro, the Puerta del Sol and the Plaza Mayor; from Salamanca, the boutiques of Calle Serrano. The Retiro park is a short walk from most properties – and in the morning it is the most pleasant place in the city.
As a suitespot guest you travel with VIP status: we register your preferences with the hotel before arrival – from a quiet room to the occasion of your trip. On top of that, every property includes breakfast for two, an upgrade subject to availability and up to 100 USD hotel credit.
One practical note to finish: because Madrid traditionally empties out in August, rates are at their lowest then – if you can take the heat, the same properties cost considerably less.
suitespot rates are genuine direct rates: you keep earning regular points and elite nights in the hotel's loyalty program and retain your status benefits – on top of your suitespot benefits. These programs are represented in Madrid:

Entry rates across our 32 luxury hotels in Madrid start at around 150 € per night (Casa de las Artes, Marriott Princesa Plaza, Radisson Blu Prado) and reach about 570 € per night at the Rosewood Villa Magna. The median entry rate is around 300 € per night.
That makes Madrid dearer than Barcelona (260 €) but well below Paris (420 €), London (390 €) or Rome (450 €). The range is notably narrow: only a factor of 3.7 separates the cheapest entry rate from the dearest – less than in any other major European capital in our portfolio. With suitespot you always book at direct rates, and the benefits worth over 500 € come on top.
Two properties share that role. The highest entry rate belongs to the Rosewood Villa Magna on the Paseo de la Castellana at around 570 € per night. The Mandarin Oriental Ritz on Plaza de la Lealtad follows at 530 € – and at 4.5 it is also our highest-rated property in the city.
If you take exclusivity to mean smallness, the Hotel Santo Mauro in Almagro is the answer (490 €): a 19th-century aristocratic residence with its own garden, a rarity in central Madrid. The Hotel Orfila (420 €) and the Gran Hotel Inglés (430 €) are similarly small.
Practically all of them. Madrid is remarkably compact on foot – twenty minutes from the Paseo del Prado to the Gran Vía, ten from the Retiro to Salamanca. In the tighter centre around Sol and the Gran Vía stand The Madrid EDITION, the Thompson Madrid, the Hyatt Centric Gran Vía, The Principal, the Hotel Urban, the Círculo Gran Vía and the Nômade Temple.
On the Paseo del Prado – equally central but quieter – follow the Mandarin Oriental Ritz, The Palace, the Hotel Villa Real and the Radisson Blu Prado. If quiet matters more than short distances, Salamanca and Almagro are the better choice – both only ten to fifteen minutes' walk away.
Yes. suitespot rates are genuine direct rates: you earn regular points and status nights in the respective hotel programme – in Madrid above all with Marriott Bonvoy (9 properties), the Leaders Club (4), World of Hyatt and iPrefer (3 each), plus IHG Rewards, Meliá Rewards, Radisson Rewards and Fans of Mandarin Oriental.
Nine of our 32 properties take part in no loyalty programme – several of the town palaces Madrid is known for among them. No points there, but far fewer rooms and more personal service. You keep your status benefits everywhere; the suitespot benefits come in addition.
The most ambitious categories belong to the Mandarin Oriental Ritz on Plaza de la Lealtad, whose suites rank among the most elaborate in the city since its reopening. It is followed by the Rosewood Villa Magna on the Paseo de la Castellana (from around 570 €) and the Hotel Santo Mauro in Almagro (490 €), a 19th-century palace with its own garden.
Characterful and considerably smaller are the Hotel Orfila (420 €), the Gran Hotel Inglés in the Barrio de las Letras (430 €) and the Hotel Palacio del Retiro in a listed palace by the park (370 €). Tell our travel advisors the occasion of your trip and we will register it with the hotel before you arrive.
For a stay for two, the small town palaces are the obvious choice: the Hotel Santo Mauro in Almagro with its garden (from around 490 €), the Hotel Orfila with around twenty rooms (420 €), the Gran Hotel Inglés in the Barrio de las Letras (430 €) and the Hotel Palacio del Retiro right by the park (370 €).
More central and livelier, but equally small, are the Hotel Único in Salamanca (340 €), the Only You Boutique Hotel in Justicia (280 €) and the Urso Hotel (240 €). All are within walking distance of the museums and the city-centre restaurants – and since Madrid dines late, a property in the centre pays off.
Yes – Madrid's finest boutique addresses are converted 19th-century aristocratic residences. The Hotel Santo Mauro in Almagro was the residence of the Duke of Santo Mauro and has one of the few private gardens in central Madrid (from around 490 €). The Hotel Orfila is an 1886 palace with twenty rooms (420 €), and the Hotel Palacio del Retiro a listed building beside the park (370 €).
The Gran Hotel Inglés is Madrid's oldest hotel, completely rebuilt a few years ago (430 €). Smaller and more contemporary are the Hotel Único, the El Autor Hotel, the Only You Boutique and the Urso Hotel.
The most pleasant months are May, June, September and October – warm but not hot, with the city fully open. High summer is very hot, and in August a large part of the city traditionally leaves; many restaurants close, but hotel rates are at their lowest.
If you can take the heat, August gets you the same properties for considerably less. Winter in Madrid is cool but dry and sunny – and the museums are noticeably emptier than in spring. Our travel advisors will tell you how your chosen property looks for your dates.
