Your guide to the best luxury hotels in Spain

Our selection in Spain covers 234 entries across 31 destinations: 221 hotels and 13 private properties.Fairmont La Hacienda Costa del Sol San RoqueFairmont La Hacienda Costa del Sol San RoqueEvery hotel booking through suitespot includes:
  • Breakfast for two – at 220 of the 221 hotels
  • Room upgrade – at 210 of the 221
  • Late check-out at 200
  • Hotel credit at 140 of the 234 entries

Entry level sits at around €109 at Hotel Ercilla de Bilbao. At the top the range leaves room-rate logic behind: Villa Celestial Marbella is listed at around €21,000, which is a whole-property rate. A typical rate in Spain is about €280.

Not a single hotel in Spain starts in four figures.

Spain's hotel prices have a ceiling

Among our 221 Spanish hotels there is none that starts in four figures. The most expensive is the Rosewood Villa Magna Madrid at around 854 € per night.ME MarbellaME MarbellaOnly three properties sit above 800 € at all: the Rosewood Villa Magna Madrid, the Belmond La Residencia Mallorca (around 827 €) and Six Senses Ibiza (around 810 €).Personal luxury travel adviceOur travel advisors personally accompany your booking – 365 days a year, from the first offer to late check-out. We run 20 countries with at least 50 priced hotels – and in only three of them is the four-figure price absent altogether: India with 60 hotels, Portugal with 94 and Spain with 215. Spain is by far the largest of the three.

For comparison: in the USA 41 hotels start in four figures, in Italy 26, in France 19.

The cheapest and the most expensive property are a factor of 7.8 apart – a narrow field for 215 properties.

suitespot rates are full direct rates: the benefits come on top of the regular rate.

And alongside them: 13 private properties up to 21,000 €

The ceiling applies to hotels only. 13 of the 234 entries are not hotels at all but villas and fincas booked as a whole property – at rates many times higher.

What applies there instead of breakfast and upgrade

These properties carry neither breakfast nor a room upgrade – neither makes sense for an entire house. In their place stand a 500 € concierge credit per stay, a private pool and terrace, a property manager with additional staff on request and a private chef service on request, with food and drink charged separately.

Spain holds the largest group of these properties in our portfolio: 13 of 39, ahead of Italy with 10 and France with 5.

Thirteen points programmes – and one that is almost only found here

175 of the 234 entries belong to a points programme, spread across thirteen different ones. 59 carry none.

The large blocks: Marriott Bonvoy with 50 properties, I Prefer with 33 and the Leaders Club with 29.

One programme is almost Spanish: of the 16 properties Melia Rewards holds across our entire portfolio, eight stand in Spain – half of them. The rest are spread over six countries with one or two properties each.

Further: Fans of Mandarin Oriental 16 (including the 13 private properties), World of Hyatt 12, IHG One Rewards 7, ALL (Accor) 6, Relais & Châteaux and Radisson Rewards five each, Hilton Honors 2, plus one each at Jumeirah ONE and GHA Discovery.

The upgrade is worth a careful look: the twelve World of Hyatt properties record it already at the time of booking rather than on arrival.
