Mango House Seychelles · Mahé IslandHere a different question comes before the country: city, coast or safari? The three lead to entirely different properties – and entirely different prices. Only the package that comes with them is identical:The African portfolio splits into three groups that have little in common. Morocco (36 properties across 6 destinations), Egypt (26 across 6) and South Africa (29 across 4) stand for city and coastal hotels. Mauritius (11 properties) and the Seychelles are pure island resorts.
Cape Grace Hotel Cape TownThe third group is safari: Kenya (17 properties across 2 destinations), Tanzania (14 across 5) and Botswana offer lodges rather than hotels – with their own pricing logic, their own season and usually few rooms per property. If you are planning a city trip, look at the first group; if you are planning a safari, at the third.
The cheapest entry sits at around €84 per night, the median across our African portfolio at about €315. The most affordable countries are Egypt (median €218), Morocco (€274) and South Africa (€339).
Mandarin Oriental MarrakechBotswana sits at the very top with a median of around €3,480. That is not an outlier but the country's price level with us: we work exclusively with safari lodges there, such as Xigera Safari Lodge (around €4,708), Belmond Savute Elephant Lodge (€3,480) and Belmond Eagle Island Lodge (€3,479). Rates like these are not comparable to a city hotel's room rate. The Seychelles (€1,046) and Tanzania (€604) follow. 11 of the 151 properties carry no published price and are quoted on request.
What stands out on this continent is less which programmes are present than how many properties deliberately do without one. Where a programme applies, the usual mechanics hold: direct rate, regular points, qualifying status nights. Across Africa we work with properties from 15 hotel programmes – a remarkable number for 151 properties.
Sofitel Abidjan Hotel IvoireThe strongest is ALL with 28 properties, followed by Marriott Bonvoy with 20, Leaders Club with 14 and iPrefer with 13. GHA Discovery and World of Hyatt each cover 7. A large share of the lodges deliberately run without a chain programme – there the address counts, not the card.
The kind of trip matters more here than the country. Between a city hotel in Cairo and a lodge in the Okavango Delta lie not only 5,000 kilometres but a factor of 16 in price – and two entirely different lengths of stay.Personal luxury travel adviceOur travel advisors personally accompany your booking – 365 days a year, from the first offer to late check-out. From here every continent is one click away — and every country two.
Entry level starts at around €84 per night, with a typical rate of about €315. The spread between countries is the widest of any continent: Egypt sits at a median of €218, Botswana at around €3,480. That is not an outlier but a question of portfolio: in Botswana we work exclusively with safari lodges, whose rates are not comparable to a city hotel's room rate. 11 of the 151 properties carry no published price.
Yes, provided the property belongs to a programme at all – a substantial share of our safari lodges deliberately does not. Where one applies, the portfolio spreads across 15 programmes, led by ALL with 28 properties. The usual mechanics then hold: direct rate, regular points, qualifying status nights.
We list 151 luxury hotels across 10 African countries and 29 dedicated destinations below them. Morocco has the most properties with 36, followed by South Africa with 29 and Egypt with 26.
All but one property include breakfast (150 of 151) and 149 the room upgrade subject to availability. Hotel credit applies at 117 – the widest gap here, which comes down to the safari lodges and their own inclusive packages. Early check-in and late check-out follow subject to availability.
Egypt at €218, ahead of Morocco (€274) and South Africa (€339). Between that entry point and the top end sits a factor of 16 – the widest country spread of any continent, caused by the safari lodges in Botswana. Those three countries are therefore also the only ones whose prices compare meaningfully with a European city trip.
Just under half: 74 of the 151 African addresses currently run an offer. With a portfolio this small it is especially worth a look – a single promotion carries more weight here than in Europe. Live offers are shown further up this page; expired ones are hidden.
