The Hotel Villa Athena Agrigento is a stately residence from the end of the 18th century. It was converted into a hotel while preserving its architectural style and today has 27 rooms on four floors. The hotel is a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World.
The Verdura Resort, a Rocco Forte Hotel, Sicily, by contrast, is a more recent project. Sir Rocco Forte pieced the land together over some seven years from more than 70 owners; in 2009 the resort opened together with the golf courses by Kyle Phillips. The architecture is by Flavio Albanese, the interior design by Olga Polizzi, who is also responsible for the interiors of the Rocco Forte Private Villas Verdura Resort Sicily. The villa masterplan followed from 2019.
