Why we recommend it: Because it is the hotel on Corsica where architecture and kitchen hold the same rank: a building of red cedar and glass by Jean-François Bodin in which the beds face the sea, a 25-metre infinity pool in an Italian garden above the gulf, a spa – and the restaurant Casadelmar with two Michelin stars for Fabio Bragagnolo’s cooking. The hotel is open five and a half months a year.
First the season, because it conditions everything else: open from 24 April to 11 October 2026, closed before and after. Anyone wanting Corsica in spring or autumn checks the date before the room.
Then the sizes: 35 square metres in the Superior room, 48 in the Deluxe, 45 to 75 in the five suites, 79.25 in the two private villas. Then there is the Executive room, our recommended category, with a view of garden and sea; our travel advisors confirm its exact size before you book.
And the view: most categories look across the garden to the sea – Garden and Sea View. It is the view across the garden to the gulf and the town opposite. Pure sea view is promised only by the two villas at 79.25 square metres.
Our advice: have the size of the Executive confirmed – or take the Deluxe at 48 square metres. Same view, and the upgrade on arrival leads from there into the Deluxe Suite at 53. And anyone wanting the gulf without the garden in front tells our travel advisors: villa – and early, because there are two.
Where to stay in Porto-Vecchio: on the Route de Palombaggia, above the gulf
The Hotel Casadelmar Corsica lies on the Route de Palombaggia, the road that runs from Porto-Vecchio harbour along the south shore of the gulf to the beaches – two and a half kilometres from the citadel, a good four from Palombaggia.
Our recommendation is therefore for anyone visiting Porto-Vecchio for the water and wanting the town as a backdrop on the other side of the gulf – near enough for an evening at the harbour, far enough for the quiet.
What lies within reach: the beach of Palombaggia, white sand between pines and red granite, ten minutes down the road; the citadel of Porto-Vecchio with the Place de la République and the view over the gulf; and Bonifacio, the town on the limestone cliff at the island’s southern tip, half an hour.
For orientation: Figari airport lies twenty kilometres to the south-west, just under half an hour; the ferries from Marseille, Toulon and Livorno dock in Porto-Vecchio harbour. For the interior – Aiguilles de Bavella, Ospedale – one needs a car, and the roads are Corsica.
