Fairmont Mara Safari ClubThe second thing to know concerns the rates: two of the five carry no price and are booked on request only – Mahali Mzuri and the Karen Blixen Camp. Every price statement on this page therefore covers three properties, not five.Across those three, entry rates run from 493 € to 2,591 € per night. The middle value sits at 1,399 € – though a median over three figures says little and serves here as orientation rather than as a metric.
What separates the camps is in any case less the price than where exactly they stand and whether meals are included.
Two of our camps stand inside the Masai Mara National Reserve itself: the Fairmont Mara Safari Club and The Ritz-Carlton Masai Mara on the Sand River in Narok County. The others sit in adjoining conservancies – the Karen Blixen Camp in the Mara North Conservancy, the Olare Mara Kempinski in the Olare Orok Conservancy.
Olare Mara Kempinski Masai Mara · Olare Orok ConservancyGeographically they are not far apart: between the northernmost and the southernmost of the five lie roughly 48 kilometres; most are 20 to 30 kilometres from one another.
The distinction is not a formality. Inside the national reserve the park authority's rules apply and you share the tracks with every other visitor; in the conservancies the respective community sets the rules, and camp density is usually lower.Personal luxury travel adviceOur travel advisors personally accompany your booking – 365 days a year, from the first offer to late check-out. Five camps, four different hotel programmes and one with none at all. At rates of this order the benefits repay a closer look than usual – they work out unusually differently here.
Mahali MzuriSorted by entry rate; the two on-request camps come last.
The dearest camp in the selection, on the Sand River inside the Masai Mara National Reserve, Narok County. It belongs to Marriott Bonvoy.
What stands out is the entry category: it is already a Two Bedroom Mara View Suite – a suite with two bedrooms. On top of that come all-inclusive for two and the hotel credit of up to 100 USD.
In the Olare Orok Conservancy, a protected area north of the national reserve. It belongs to GHA Discovery. The entry category is the Deluxe Tent.
It is the only one of the five without all-inclusive – instead a complimentary lunch or dinner for two is included, and the hotel credit of up to 100 USD applies as well.
The lowest entry rate in the selection at around 493 € per night – a fifth of what the Ritz-Carlton costs. It stands inside the Masai Mara National Reserve and belongs to ALL – Accor Live Limitless.
The entry category is the Riverfront Tent. All-inclusive for two and the hotel credit of up to 100 USD are included.
Booked on request only, and therefore carrying no entry rate in our data – our travel advisors will quote it for your dates. The camp belongs to iPrefer, the entry category is the Luxury Tented Suite, and it lists a family category of its own.
On benefits it is the richest of the five: all-inclusive for two, the hotel credit of up to 100 USD and, on top, a 100 USD spa credit – the only camp in the selection with the latter.
Also on request only, in the Mara North Conservancy. It is the only one of the five without a hotel programme, so you earn no points here. The entry category is the Luxury Tent, and there is a family category.
It is also the only camp without the hotel credit of up to 100 USD. Instead, 15 per cent off spa treatments is included. Breakfast, upgrade and late check-out apply as everywhere.
Of the five camps, three carry an entry rate: the Fairmont Mara Safari Club at around 493 €, the Olare Mara Kempinski at 1,399 € and The Ritz-Carlton Masai Mara at 2,591 € per night. More than fivefold separates the cheapest from the dearest.
Karen Blixen Camp · Mara North ConservancyAgainst the rest of Africa this is a price level of its own: in Nairobi the median entry rate is 213 € across nine properties, in Johannesburg 272 € across four, in Cape Town 373 € across fourteen and on Zanzibar 492 € across four. A safari in the Mara therefore starts where a beach stay on Zanzibar ends – and reaches far beyond.
Breakfast for two, the room upgrade subject to availability and late check-out apply at all five camps. After that it becomes very uneven, and at these rates that is worth reading:
All-inclusive for two applies at three of five – the Fairmont, Mahali Mzuri and the Ritz-Carlton. The hotel credit of up to 100 USD applies at four of five; the Karen Blixen Camp is the only one without it and offers 15 per cent off spa treatments instead. Mahali Mzuri is the only camp to add a 100 USD spa credit, the Kempinski the only one with a complimentary lunch or dinner.
With every booking through suitespot you receive a comprehensive package of suitespot benefits:
If price decides, it is the Fairmont Mara Safari Club – at around 493 € the cheapest camp, inside the national reserve and all-inclusive. If you want to put Marriott Bonvoy status to work, only the Ritz-Carlton qualifies; for GHA Discovery, only the Kempinski.Personal luxury travel adviceOur travel advisors personally accompany your booking – 365 days a year, from the first offer to late check-out. Reach the suitespot VIP service via email or WhatsApp.Phone: +49 30 81452346 · hotel@suitespot.comTravelling as four or with children, the Ritz-Carlton with its two-bedroom suite as the entry level, along with Mahali Mzuri and the Karen Blixen Camp with their own family categories, are the obvious addresses.
Two practical notes to close. First: for Mahali Mzuri and the Karen Blixen Camp there is no online rate – our travel advisors put the offer together for your dates. Second: in Kenya, beyond these five camps we feature only properties in Nairobi. If you want to combine the Mara with the coast, our advisors pair it with Zanzibar – though that is in Tanzania.
suitespot rates are genuine direct rates: you keep earning regular points and elite nights in the hotel's loyalty program and retain your status benefits – on top of your suitespot benefits. These programs are represented in Masai Mara:
| Program | Hotels | Examples in Masai Mara |
|---|---|---|
| ALL (Accor) | 1 hotel | Fairmont Mara Safari Club |
| GHA Discovery | 1 hotel | Olare Mara Kempinski Masai Mara |
| I Prefer | 1 hotel | Mahali Mzuri |
| Marriott Bonvoy | 1 hotel | The Ritz-Carlton Masai Mara |
Of our five camps, three carry an entry rate: the Fairmont Mara Safari Club at around 493 €, the Olare Mara Kempinski at 1,399 € and The Ritz-Carlton Masai Mara at 2,591 € per night.
Mahali Mzuri and the Karen Blixen Camp are booked on request only and carry no rate in our data, so a span across all five cannot be given.
Mahali Mzuri and the Karen Blixen Camp are bookable on request only. That is not a display fault but the booking mode of those two properties.
Our travel advisors obtain the rate for your dates – the suitespot benefits apply exactly as they would on an online booking.
Three of five: the Fairmont Mara Safari Club, Mahali Mzuri and The Ritz-Carlton Masai Mara carry all-inclusive for two.
The Olare Mara Kempinski and the Karen Blixen Camp do not – at the Kempinski a complimentary lunch or dinner for two is included instead.
At four of five. The Karen Blixen Camp is the only one that does not carry it; there, 15 per cent off spa treatments is included instead.
Mahali Mzuri is the only camp to add a 100 USD spa credit on top.
Two of our camps stand inside the Masai Mara National Reserve itself – the Fairmont Mara Safari Club and the Ritz-Carlton on the Sand River. The Karen Blixen Camp is in the Mara North Conservancy, the Olare Mara Kempinski in the Olare Orok Conservancy.
Inside the reserve the park authority's rules apply; in the conservancies those of the respective community, and camp density is usually lower. If that matters to you, choose on it rather than on price.
Not far. Between the northernmost and the southernmost of the camps lie roughly 48 kilometres; most are 20 to 30 kilometres apart, and the two closest – Mahali Mzuri and the Olare Mara Kempinski – only about six kilometres.
For getting there: all five are usually reached by light aircraft from Nairobi, and the drive from the respective airstrip to the camp is short everywhere.
At four of the five. The Ritz-Carlton Masai Mara belongs to Marriott Bonvoy, the Olare Mara Kempinski to GHA Discovery, the Fairmont Mara Safari Club to ALL – Accor Live Limitless and Mahali Mzuri to iPrefer.
The Karen Blixen Camp takes part in no hotel programme. The suitespot benefits still apply there.
In Kenya, beyond these five camps we feature only properties in Nairobi – nine of them, at a median entry rate of 213 €.
In the wider region we hold addresses in Arusha and at the Ngorongoro Crater as well as on Zanzibar, all three in Tanzania. Our travel advisors put a Mara-and-coast combination together as a single booking.
