JW Marriott Miami Turnberry ResortFor this guide we reviewed the best hotels in Aventura and picked one: a single luxury hotel – and its name says something other than its location does. Our choice for Aventura is the JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort. It sits at 4.1 out of 5 in our ranking, carries Marriott Bonvoy, and a night starts at 359 euros.

The hotel, however, stands in Aventura – and that is not a nuance but the most important piece of planning information.
The city name in the hotel name is not the location. The hotel is called “Miami Turnberry”, and that really is its name – but it stands in Aventura, a separate city in the north of Miami-Dade County. Read “Miami” and picture South Beach, and you will plan the journey the wrong way round.
Three concrete decisions follow from that:
• The airport. From here Fort Lauderdale is closer than Miami International. Check both before you book the flight – the saving is not the ticket price but the driving time on arrival day.
• The evenings. South Beach is an expedition from here, not a stroll. Plan the evenings you want there explicitly – and the others deliberately here.
• The car. In Aventura it is basic equipment, not luxury. Between the Intracoastal and the Atlantic the routes run crossways, and without a car every trip becomes a negotiation.
Our advice: treat this hotel as a destination of its own, not as Miami lodging. Book it that way and you get space, golf and quiet at a price the same brand does not hold on Ocean Drive. Book it as a city hotel and you will spend every evening in the car.
The JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort stands in Aventura, between the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic. The city itself is the anchor here, and it is small enough that this is enough.
Our recommendation is therefore for anyone who wants Florida with room to move: golf, water and short runs to the beach, without the density of the promenades.
What is within reach: Aventura Mall, one of the largest shopping centres in the United States, practically next door; the beaches of Sunny Isles Beach, a few minutes east across the Intracoastal; and Hollywood with its wooden Broadwalk along the water, the next stretch north.
For orientation: Fort Lauderdale is about twenty minutes by car, Miami International thirty to fifty depending on traffic, and South Beach a good half hour. The Everglades begin a good hour west.
The JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort offers 13 categories – and eight of them are suites. That reverses the usual ratio: on this list the suites are the majority, not the exception.
If size matters to you, that is the first question for our travel advisors – and with eight suites in a list of thirteen, it is a question worth asking.
Four of the thirteen categories are simply called Suite. At the top, by contrast, two stand clearly apart: a Presidential Suite and a Grand Presidential Suite.
Two categories look out expressly on the golf course. That matches the name Turnberry, and it is the only motif we claim here. For all the others: ask our travel advisors about the outlook before you commit.
What applies to every category alike: the American breakfast for two people at CORSAIR kitchen & bar and the upgrade on arrival subject to availability.
A night at the luxury hotel in Aventura starts at 359 euros.
Seven benefits are included, and all of them apply from the first night: the American breakfast for two at CORSAIR kitchen & bar, the 100 US dollar hotel credit, an upgrade on arrival subject to availability, regular points and status benefits with Marriott Bonvoy, early check-in and late check-out subject to availability, a welcome gift.
When it is most pleasant: from November to April. The air is dry, the evenings sit at a comfortable temperature, and you can play the golf course all day.
When it is busiest: from December to March, and especially over the spring break weeks. Aventura is then as full as the coast in general, but this is the stretch with the shortest runs to the water.
When the water is warmest: from June to October. The Atlantic reaches bath temperature, the storms come in the late afternoon and pass quickly, and rates sit below the winter level.
When to enquire early: for the weeks between Christmas and Easter – and for late summer, because in the hurricane season from June to November flexibility is worth more than the best rate. Ask us about rates with room to rebook in that window.
How long to stay: three to four nights – or seven if you combine golf, the Everglades and an evening in South Beach.
And whatever the date: you get the suitespot benefits in the quietest week of the year just as you do in the busiest.
Aventura is often described as a stopover, and that does not do the area justice. It lies exactly where South Florida stops being a postcard and starts being a place.

Reach the suitespot VIP service via email or WhatsApp.Phone: +49 30 81452346 · hotel@suitespot.comThree things belong to it. First, the water on both sides: the Intracoastal Waterway to the west, the Atlantic to the east, and a narrow strip in between on which everything sits. Second, the golf course – it is why the hotel is called Turnberry, and two categories look out on it expressly. Third, the Hollywood Broadwalk a little to the north: some four kilometres of boardwalk right on the sand, walked, cycled and eaten along since the 1920s.
For everything else there is the hotel credit: 100 US dollars, with no rate condition and no further strings.
What our travel advisors arrange most often beyond that: the hire car from Fort Lauderdale – because that is the nearer airport here and the car is basic equipment in Aventura – and tee times on the course, because the early slots fill first in high season.
The benefits of this hotel apply whatever your standing with Marriott Bonvoy: the points and status benefits come on top.
The properties in Aventura share a single loyalty program. Your booking counts within it as usual – a direct rate with points, elite nights and your status benefits, plus what suitespot adds. Most properties in this selection earn with Marriott Bonvoy.
At no extra cost: you pay the same rate as booking direct with the hotel – the suitespot benefits come on top, free of charge.
