Two villages, not the whole Hamptons
The Hamptons are not one place but a string of roughly a dozen villages along the South Fork of Long Island, from Westhampton in the west to Montauk at the tip. Ask two people what „the Hamptons" means and you will get two answers.

Where the two houses stand
Six kilometres apart sounds like neighbours, and they are. The difference is not the distance but which way the house faces: one onto a village main street, the other onto the water.
On the South Fork that is no small thing. The peninsula has two coasts – the open Atlantic to the south, with the beaches the Hamptons are known for, and the sheltered bays toward Gardiners Bay to the north, where the boats are. Both houses stand on the same peninsula, but not on the same side of it.
Amagansett on Main Street
This is where The Roundtree Amagansett stands (from around 607 €): at 273 Main Street, in the middle of the village. Amagansett is the smaller of the two addresses – a village centre where everything is walkable, and the Atlantic beaches are minutes away.
East Hampton on Three Mile Harbor
The EHP Resort East Hampton is not in the village centre but on Three Mile Harbor Hog Creek Road – on the sheltered harbour on the north side of the South Fork, not the ocean side. One room type carries Marina View accordingly.
What is nearby – and what is not
East Hampton Airport is around nine kilometres from both houses, Southampton some 23 kilometres west, Montauk Point around 26 to 28 kilometres east. Manhattan is roughly 155 kilometres as the crow flies – the drive takes considerably longer than that number suggests.
Cottages, barns and one whole house
People booking the Hamptons are rarely looking for a standard hotel room, and both room lists reflect that. What is let here is called a cottage, a barn or a house.
The scope: 22 room types, eight at the Roundtree and 14 at the EHP.
At the Roundtree the range runs from the Studio Cottage at 26 m² through Barn Deluxe Room (32 m²) and Barn Suite (33 m²) to the Garden Cottage with a fireplace (35 m²). Above those sit two Cottages of 41 and 102 m² – and a free-standing House of 204 m², the largest room type on this page.
At the EHP the list splits into two families: Harbor House and Cottage. The first holds Harbor House Room (29 and 30 m², one with a Marina View) and two Harbor House Suites with terrace at 80 and 94 m². The second holds Junior Cottage (34 m²), Cottage (53 to 58 m² and 82 m²) and Cottage Suites at 53 and 82 m², alongside the Premier Cottage and Magari Harbor House categories.
One caveat on the square metres: our database holds no size for three EHP types – Premier Cottage, Premier Cottage Room and Magari Harbor House Suite. We do not quote a figure for those.
Points, status and what counts instead
There is one expectation this page does not meet, and it is better known before you book than after.
First: neither house belongs to a hotel chain or a points programme. You earn no points and no status nights for this stay, and existing status buys you nothing here. For independent houses of this size that is the norm rather than the exception.
Second, and it offsets a good deal: the benefits come straight from the booking rather than from a programme. At the EHP that means a 100 USD hotel credit plus a 30 USD breakfast credit per day; at the Roundtree, a continental breakfast for two plus a 50 USD hotel credit.
Either way: a room upgrade subject to availability and early check-in and late check-out are included at both houses.
One booking note: a minimum stay applies at the Roundtree. Please take the exact number of nights from the house's own benefit summary – our data fields disagree on it, and we would rather quote no figure than the wrong one.

Getting there: East Hampton Airport is around nine kilometres away, JFK roughly 141 kilometres. The drive out to the South Fork runs along a single artery and is correspondingly slow on summer weekends – which is why many guests arrive and leave midweek.
Season: the Hamptons are a summer address. Rates and occupancy peak between Memorial Day and Labor Day; spring and autumn are quieter and cheaper, with cooler water.
