Sheraton Puerto Rico San Juan · SanturceWith every booking through suitespot you receive a comprehensive package of suitespot benefits:On Ashford Avenue in Condado, the beachfront strip east of Old San Juan, stand the San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino at number 1309 (from around 359 €), La Concha Resort at 1077 (334 €) and the Condado Vanderbilt Hotel at 1055 (278 €). A few streets inland, also in Condado, sits the O:live Boutique Hotel on Calle Aguadilla (240 €).
In Isla Verde, east of the city in the municipality of Carolina, stands the Fairmont El San Juan Hotel (343 €); in the convention district the Sheraton Puerto Rico (244 €), and in Santurce the Verano San Juan on Avenida Juan Ponce de León.
Separately from all of these: Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve at around 1.213 € per night – a resort roughly 30 kilometres west of San Juan, and a different proposition entirely.
San Juan is a city with a beach attached, and where you stay decides which of the two you get.
Fairmont El San Juan Hotel Puerto Rico · CarolinaCondado is the beachfront strip east of the old town and holds four of our eight properties. Three of them stand on Ashford Avenue within a few hundred metres of each other – the San Juan Marriott at 1309 (from around 359 €), La Concha Resort at 1077 (334 €) and the Condado Vanderbilt at 1055 (278 €) – with the smaller O:live Boutique Hotel on Calle Aguadilla a few streets inland (240 €). Beach, restaurants and a short taxi ride to Old San Juan: this is the practical choice.Personal luxury travel adviceOur travel advisors personally accompany your booking – 365 days a year, from the first offer to late check-out. Reach the suitespot VIP service via email or WhatsApp.Phone: +49 30 81452346 · hotel@suitespot.comIsla Verde, further east and technically in the municipality of Carolina, is the beach strip nearest the airport. The Fairmont El San Juan Hotel stands there (343 €) – a larger resort with a longer beach, about twenty minutes from the old town.
Old San Juan itself – the walled colonial city with the forts – is where most visitors spend their days, but our selection does not currently include a hotel inside it. From Condado it is ten to fifteen minutes by taxi.
And Dorado, 30 kilometres west, is a different kind of trip altogether: Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve is a self-contained resort rather than a base for seeing the city.
The most useful thing to know about San Juan is that Puerto Rico is a US territory: the currency is the dollar, and for travellers from Europe the practical consequences are the plug sockets and the fact that US roaming rules apply. Flights connect through the mainland US or direct from Madrid.
Second, the season: the dry, reliable months run from December to April, which is also when rates peak – the weeks around Christmas and Easter most of all. May and November are the best value. The hurricane season runs June to November, with the highest risk from August to October; rates are lowest then and the cancellation terms matter more than usual. Ask us about them before booking.
Third, the programmes: six of our eight properties belong to one. Marriott Bonvoy holds three – Dorado Beach, the San Juan Marriott and the Sheraton Puerto Rico – with ALL (Fairmont El San Juan), iPrefer (Condado Vanderbilt) and the Leaders Club (Verano San Juan) one each. La Concha and the O:live Boutique take part in none.
Everything in our San Juan selection sits along the coast east of the old town – except one resort well to the west.
Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve · DoradoThese four areas cover the portfolio.
The beachfront strip east of Old San Juan, and the densest part of our selection. Three properties stand on Ashford Avenue within a few hundred metres: the San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino at 1309 (from around 359 €), La Concha Resort at 1077 (334 €) and the Condado Vanderbilt Hotel at 1055 (278 €). A few streets inland is the O:live Boutique Hotel on Calle Aguadilla (240 €) – the smallest and least expensive of our San Juan properties.
East of Condado, in the municipality of Carolina: the Fairmont El San Juan Hotel on Avenida Isla Verde (343 €). A larger resort with a longer beach, around ten minutes from the airport and twenty from the old town.
Between Condado and the port: the Sheraton Puerto Rico on Convention Boulevard (244 €), the practical choice for business, and the Verano San Juan on Avenida Juan Ponce de León in Santurce, the arts and restaurant quarter.
Not San Juan at all, and worth saying so: Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve (around 1.213 €) sits on the north coast roughly 30 kilometres west of the city. It is a self-contained resort on former plantation land, and the highest-priced property in our Puerto Rico selection by a wide margin. A place to stay, not a base for seeing San Juan.
Two points about the shape of this selection, both worth knowing before you compare.
Verano San Juan · SanturceFirst, Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve is not in San Juan. It is roughly 30 kilometres west along the coast, it is a self-contained resort, and at around 1.213 € per night it costs more than three times the next property on this page. We list it because it is the outstanding address in Puerto Rico – but including it in a price comparison with the Condado hotels would be misleading. Excluding it, our San Juan properties run from 240 € to 359 €, with a median around 306 €.
Second, our selection does not currently include a hotel inside Old San Juan – the walled colonial city with the forts, the blue cobbles and the cruise port. That is where most visitors spend their days, and from Condado it is ten to fifteen minutes by taxi. If staying within the old walls is what you want, we cannot offer it today.
What the selection does cover well is the beach: four properties in Condado, one in Isla Verde, all with sand outside. For a trip that mixes beach days with excursions into the old town and out to El Yunque rainforest, Condado is the sensible base – and the three Ashford Avenue properties are close enough that our travel advisors can compare them on rate and room type for your exact dates.
Setting Dorado Beach aside – at around 1.213 € it belongs in a category of its own – our San Juan properties sit in a narrow band.
The highest is the San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino on Ashford Avenue at around 359 € per night, followed by the Fairmont El San Juan in Isla Verde (343 €), La Concha Resort (334 €) and the Condado Vanderbilt (278 €).
The most accessible are the Sheraton Puerto Rico in the convention district and the O:live Boutique Hotel in Condado, both at around 240 €. The Verano San Juan in Santurce is available on request.
With a median of around 306 € per night, San Juan sits between the European cities and the Caribbean resort islands. The useful detail is how compressed the range is: excluding Dorado, the gap from cheapest to dearest is only about 50 per cent. On Ashford Avenue in particular, three properties within a few hundred metres of each other span 278 € to 359 € – close enough that the room type matters more than the rate, which is exactly the comparison our travel advisors will run for you.
What our travel advisors arrange most often in San Juan are guided mornings in Old San Juan – the forts of El Morro and San Cristóbal, before the cruise passengers arrive – days in the El Yunque rainforest an hour east, and night trips to the bioluminescent bay at Fajardo, which needs the right moon phase and therefore planning.Personal luxury travel adviceOur travel advisors personally accompany your booking – 365 days a year, from the first offer to late check-out. Reach the suitespot VIP service via email or WhatsApp.Phone: +49 30 81452346 · hotel@suitespot.comFor orientation: from Condado, Old San Juan is ten to fifteen minutes by taxi and the airport around twenty. Isla Verde is closer to the airport and further from the old town. Dorado is roughly 45 minutes west of the airport.
As a suitespot guest you travel with VIP status: we pass your preferences to the hotel before you arrive – in San Juan most often an ocean-facing room, which on Ashford Avenue is a separate and more expensive category in every property. On top of that, every property includes breakfast for two, an upgrade subject to availability and up to 100 USD hotel credit.
suitespot rates are genuine direct rates: you keep earning regular points and elite nights in the hotel's loyalty program and retain your status benefits – on top of your suitespot benefits. These programs are represented in San Juan:
| Program | Hotels | Examples in San Juan |
|---|---|---|
| Marriott Bonvoy | 4 hotels | Sheraton Puerto Rico San Juan, Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino … |
| ALL (Accor) | 1 hotel | Fairmont El San Juan Hotel Puerto Rico |
| I Prefer | 1 hotel | Condado Vanderbilt Hotel |
| Leaders Club | 1 hotel | Verano San Juan |
Entry rates for our San Juan properties run from around 240 € per night (Sheraton Puerto Rico and the O:live Boutique Hotel) to about 359 € per night (San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino), with a median of around 306 €.
Considered separately is Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve at around 1.213 € per night – it is roughly 30 kilometres west of the city, it is a self-contained resort, and including it in a comparison with the Condado hotels would be misleading.
What stands out about San Juan is how compressed the range is: excluding Dorado, the gap from cheapest to dearest is only about 50 per cent. With suitespot you always book at direct rates, and the benefits worth more than 500 € come on top.
Condado is the practical choice: the beachfront strip east of the old town, holding four of our eight properties. Three stand on Ashford Avenue within a few hundred metres of each other – the San Juan Marriott at 1309 (from around 359 €), La Concha Resort at 1077 (334 €) and the Condado Vanderbilt at 1055 (278 €) – plus the smaller O:live Boutique Hotel a few streets inland (240 €). Beach outside, Old San Juan ten to fifteen minutes by taxi.
Isla Verde, nearer the airport, has the Fairmont El San Juan Hotel (343 €) – a larger resort with a longer beach. The Sheraton Puerto Rico (244 €) is the convention-district option and the Verano San Juan is in Santurce, the arts quarter.
Dorado, 30 kilometres west, is a resort stay rather than a city base.
Not currently, and we would rather say so plainly. Our selection covers Condado, Isla Verde, the convention district, Santurce and Dorado – but no property inside the walled colonial city itself.
That matters because Old San Juan is where most visitors spend their days: the forts of El Morro and San Cristóbal, the blue cobbled streets and the cruise port. From Condado it is ten to fifteen minutes by taxi, from Isla Verde around twenty.
If staying within the old walls is essential to your trip, we cannot offer it from this selection today. If it is not, Condado gives you the beach and puts the old town within easy reach – which is how most people prefer to split their days here anyway.
Yes. suitespot rates are full direct rates: you earn the usual points and status nights in the relevant hotel programme. Six of our eight Puerto Rico properties belong to one.
Marriott Bonvoy holds three – Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, the San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino and the Sheraton Puerto Rico. ALL holds the Fairmont El San Juan, iPrefer the Condado Vanderbilt and the Leaders Club the Verano San Juan.
La Concha Resort and the O:live Boutique Hotel take part in none. If earning points matters on this trip, that narrows the Ashford Avenue choice to two of the three. Your status benefits apply everywhere; the suitespot benefits come in addition.
Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve is a self-contained resort on the north coast, roughly 30 kilometres west of San Juan on former plantation land. At around 1.213 € per night it is the highest-priced property in our Puerto Rico selection by a wide margin – more than three times the next one.
We list it because it is the outstanding address on the island, but it answers a different question from the Condado hotels. It is a place to stay for its own sake, with the beach, the golf and the restaurants on site – not a base from which to see San Juan. From the airport it is around 45 minutes.
For that reason we quote the San Juan price range separately: excluding Dorado, our properties run from 240 € to 359 €. If you want both the resort and the city, our travel advisors will split the stay rather than have you drive back and forth.
Five of our eight properties have sand outside. Four are in Condado: the San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino at 1309 Ashford Avenue (from around 359 €), La Concha Resort at 1077 (334 €) and the Condado Vanderbilt Hotel at 1055 (278 €) are all on the beachfront strip; the O:live Boutique Hotel is a few streets inland (240 €).
The fifth is the Fairmont El San Juan Hotel in Isla Verde (343 €), which has the longer beach of the two strips and sits closer to the airport.
An ocean-facing room is a separate and more expensive category in every one of them – register the preference through our travel advisors before you book. The Sheraton Puerto Rico and the Verano San Juan are city properties without a beach.
The dry, reliable months run from December to April, which is also when rates peak – the weeks around Christmas and Easter most of all.
May and November are the best value windows: still warm and largely dry, without high-season pricing.
The hurricane season runs from June to November, with the highest risk from August to October. Rates are lowest then, and the cancellation terms matter more than usual – ask us about them before you book rather than after. Our travel advisors will tell you what each property offers for those dates.
The O:live Boutique Hotel in Condado at around 240 € per night – the smallest of our San Juan properties and the least expensive, a few streets inland from the Ashford Avenue beachfront. The Sheraton Puerto Rico in the convention district matches it at 244 €, and is the better fit for business.
On the beachfront itself, the Condado Vanderbilt at 278 € is the most interesting case: it sits on the same stretch of Ashford Avenue as properties charging 334 € and 359 €, and it belongs to iPrefer, so the nights count.
That is the pattern in San Juan generally – with three properties inside a few hundred metres, the address costs very little, and the room type matters more than the rate.
