At The St. Regis Cap Cana Resort, every guest enjoys the brand’s butler service – and has done since it opened on 1 May 2025 as the first St. Regis in the Dominican Republic. The resort sits by the Cap Cana marina next to the Punta Espada golf course and has 200 rooms, including 36 suites from which you step straight into a plunge pool. In the evening Peruvian chef Diego Muñoz cooks over an open fire at Nina, the Amber Room cigar lounge has a walk-in humidor, and throughout the hotel you will meet the faceless doll, the muñeca sin rostro, a symbol of Dominican culture.
The St. Regis Cap Cana Resort · Rooms & suitesFor more seclusion, head to the still largely undeveloped Playa Esmeralda near Miches, around 90 minutes from the airport: this is where the Zemi Miches Punta Cana opened in June 2025, the first all-inclusive resort of the Curio Collection in the country. Around 500 rooms line some 600 metres of beach, the architecture and the cooking at the Toa restaurant draw on Taíno culture, and children aged 3 to 12 have their own kids’ club. The Acana Spa and the teens’ club were only announced at the opening; our travel advisors can tell you whether both are open by now.
W Punta Cana · Rooms & suitesOnly adults check in at the W Punta Cana in Uvero Alto, since August 2025 the world’s first all-inclusive W resort. Rooms start at around 65 m², 46 suites have a swim-up pool, an 80-metre infinity pool stretches along the WET Deck, and the 33 1/3 speakeasy has its own vinyl library. Allow about an hour’s drive from the airport: the resort is on the Atlantic coast, not in Puntacana Resort & Club.
The Paradisus Palma Real on Bávaro beach feels brand new: since the complete renovation finished in December 2022, all 596 units are suites, 58 of them with direct pool access. Adults retreat to The Reserve, a separate area with 152 suites, its own pools and its own stretch of beach, and at Flora, Leandro Díaz cooks vegan food, again for adults only. You also stay child-free at the Sanctuary Cap Cana, which joined Marriott’s Luxury Collection in 2022 as the brand’s first all-inclusive resort worldwide; its showpiece is the two-storey Castle Island Suite on its own small island.
The Paradisus Grand Cana Punta Cana used to be called The Grand Reserve at Paradisus Palma Real and was relaunched in 2023 as Falcon’s Resort by Meliá, with direct access to the Katmandu Park theme park. Since 15 January 2024 it has been called Paradisus Grand Cana again – though some booking sites still show the Falcon’s name. It is the same hotel. Good to know for families: the 108 swim-up suites in the “Katmandu Experience” category include free entry to the neighbouring park.
A pool is almost a given on this coast. At a 5-star hotel in Punta Cana, the difference lies in how close it is to your room – and how many guests you share it with.
Straight from the terrace into the water is possible at several luxury hotels in Punta Cana. Our tip: the Paradisus Palma Real with 58 swim-up suites on Bávaro beach. The Paradisus Grand Cana Punta Cana has the most, with 108 swim-up suites, and at the Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana the swim-up suites line the large infinity pool – one for couples, as the resort is adults only.

Paradisus Palma Real · PoolFor swimming lengths, the W Punta Cana is the place to go: the infinity pool on the WET Deck is 80 metres long, and there is also a Chill Pool with a swim-up bar and an indoor pool in the AWAY Spa. Big pool landscapes come at the Paradisus Palma Real, with eleven pools in total. Families choose The St. Regis Cap Cana Resort: it has four pools with separate areas for adults and families, plus a rooftop pool with a tiki bar.

At the Larimar Spa of the Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana, everything is modelled on a cenote: the hydrotherapy pool sits in a cave-like setting, and there is also a Himalayan salt lounge, along with massages and body wraps using ingredients such as noni fruit and coconut milk. The YHI Spa at the Paradisus Palma Real takes you through a water ritual with a hydrotherapy circuit, and guests of The Reserve have their own spa area there.
Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana · Cap CanaAt the Zemi Miches Punta Cana, the Acana Spa & Wellness covers more than 1,500 m², with 11 treatment rooms, a hydrotherapy circuit, sauna, steam rooms, private plunge pools and a juice bar. The signature treatments draw on Taíno heritage, such as the Cacao Ritual or the Quartz Sand Massage; a fitness centre and a yoga studio complete the offer. The AWAY Spa at the W Punta Cana has 10 treatment rooms, a sauna, steam room, Himalayan salt room and indoor pool; therapists work with turmeric, arnica and moringa oil, and mornings bring sunrise yoga.
For couples: the Eden Roc Spa by Natura Bissé at the Eden Roc at Cap Cana works with double beds and marble bathtubs and will also come to the suites with private pools on request; sauna, steam room, hammam and yoga on the beach round it off. Natura Bissé is also on offer at the Paradisus Grand Cana Punta Cana, in the MAIA Signature Spa. At The St. Regis Cap Cana Resort, The St. Regis Spa spreads across 14 treatment rooms and a spa suite, with separate water areas for women and men and relaxation zones indoors and out.
One spa for two luxury hotels in Punta Cana: guests of the Tortuga Bay Hotel Punta Cana and The Westin Puntacana Resort share the resort spa at La Cana, the golf and beach club: nine treatment rooms, sauna, steam room, outdoor pool, bucket shower and ice fountain, plus a signature massage with local coconut oil and aerial yoga. Six Senses used to run the spa; today it is simply called The Spa at Puntacana Resort.
If you want to eat well in Punta Cana, you will usually stay within your own resort – and some hotels have well-known names in the kitchen. At The St. Regis Cap Cana Resort the flagship is Nina: Diego Muñoz, who has previously cooked at restaurants on the World’s 50 Best list, serves cuisine of the Americas around an open fire; for private dining there is the Uma wine cellar. Up on the roof, Cielo Mio serves Mexican and Latin American cuisine with views over the coast.
Sanctuary Cap Cana · DiningAt the Eden Roc at Cap Cana, Executive Chef Adriano Venturini oversees all the kitchens. Mediterraneo serves seasonal menus with seafood in the evening on a terrace above the pool, while BLUE Grill + Bar has a show kitchen, Neapolitan pizza, a cigar cellar and Sunday brunch. And on a headland by the beach, La Palapa by Eden Roc serves sushi, ceviche and homemade pasta.
The St. Regis Cap Cana Resort · DiningCooking with roots: at the Zemi Miches Punta Cana, Frankely Castillo reinterprets Taíno ingredients at Toa, and Yuca serves family-style dishes from the open fire. At the Paradisus Palma Real, Leandro Díaz cooks vegan, artisanal food with regional ingredients at Flora – for adults only.

Our tip for cigar lovers: The Amber Room at The St. Regis Cap Cana Resort, with a walk-in humidor, a cigar sommelier and a “rummelier” for rum, cognac and whisky. The Riva Bar at the Eden Roc at Cap Cana is modelled on 1960s Monte Carlo, and at the W Punta Cana the 33 1/3 speakeasy plays vinyl records.
Staying at the Tortuga Bay Hotel Punta Cana means you are not limited to the in-house Bamboo, where Executive Chef Cristian Shinya cooks Mediterranean food. The restaurants of the entire Puntacana Resort & Club are open to you too, including the boat restaurant La Yola in the marina and Brassa Grill on the beach. There are no historic buildings among the luxury hotels in Punta Cana – here, the history lies in the design. The Tortuga Bay Hotel Punta Cana opened in 2006 within the Puntacana Resort & Club, and its 13 villas are the only hotel ever designed by the fashion designer Oscar de la Renta. With 30 units in total, it is the smallest luxury hotel in this selection, and every guest has a personal villa manager.
Tortuga Bay Hotel Punta Cana · Punta CanaThe Eden Roc at Cap Cana opened on 15 December 2012 in Cap Cana, between lagoon and beach. In 2017 it added 26 two-bedroom beachfront suites, and the Beach Club with its infinity pool was completely renewed. Today the hotel has 68 units, from pool suites and bungalows to villas with up to eleven rooms. In December 2013, The Westin Puntacana Resort opened on Playa Blanca within the Puntacana Resort & Club as the country’s first Westin, designed by DLW Architects; all 200 rooms face the sea.
Zemi Miches Punta Cana · MichesIf you want a 5-star hotel in Punta Cana with Dominican character, look at the younger hotels: they tell the island’s story. At the Zemi Miches Punta Cana, architect Antonio Segundo Imbert draws on Taíno culture, with interiors by Adriana Hoyos Design Studio and Arkham Projects. At the W Punta Cana, Zanobia Arquitectura references the Dominican colonial heritage, the tobacco plantations and larimar, the national stone. At The St. Regis Cap Cana Resort, Acebal Canney Arquitectos handled the architecture and Chapi Chapo Design the interiors.
And then there is the Sanctuary Cap Cana: an adults-only resort on Playa Juanillo laid out like a castle, with 324 suites in 19 categories. The Castle Island Suite sits on its own small island and measures around 510 m². Next door on the same Playa Juanillo is the Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana, which opened in December 2019 together with its sister resort Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana, designed by Ken Shannon.
Michelin Keys recognise hotels, not restaurants. The Eden Roc at Cap Cana holds two Michelin Keys – in 2025 it became the first hotel in the Dominican Republic with this distinction. Factor the drive from the airport into your choice. From The Westin Puntacana Resort it is around 5 minutes, from the Tortuga Bay Hotel Punta Cana about 6 – and there, the transfer in both directions is included when you book through suitespot. The drive to the Eden Roc at Cap Cana takes around 10 minutes, and the return transfer is already included in the room rate.
