Between the cheapest and the most expensive hotel in this selection lies a considerable gap – and it almost always comes down to location rather than quality. Our travel advisors will tell you where the premium is worth paying and where it is not. At the top of our recommendation: the Art Ovation Hotel Sarasota.

Art Ovation Hotel Sarasota · Pineapple CornerFor this guide we have put together the best hotels in Sarasota: three luxury hotels with a median price of 292 € per night. The Sarasota Modern costs 134 €, the Art Ovation Hotel Sarasota 292 € and The Ritz-Carlton Sarasota 521 €.
The Ritz-Carlton Sarasota · Golden Gate PointThree very different properties – and you still earn into the same account at all three.
We checked, across all 340 destinations with at least three hotels, whether the properties belong to the same group. That is true of seven – and Sarasota is one of them.
All three belong to Marriott and carry Marriott Bonvoy. But – and this is the point – they belong to three different brands within that group. So you are not choosing between three variants of the same idea, but between a design property, an art hotel and a classic grand hotel on the water.
For you that means the decision costs you nothing. Whichever you take, every night counts toward the same points account and the same status. At most destinations you have to choose between the property and the programme – here you do not.
At The Ritz-Carlton Sarasota there is one more thing worth knowing: on top of the regular 100 US dollar hotel credit there is a further 100 US dollars for certain suites – among them the Bay View Suite, the Club Suite and the Sarasota Suite. That additional credit requires two nights and is not included in every rate. The suitespot benefits themselves apply regardless from the first night.
The Sarasota Modern, at 134 €, is the lowest entry and at the same time lists the most categories, 24.
Our recommendation for the lowest entry and the widest choice: The Sarasota Modern in the Rosemary District.
The Sarasota Modern · Rosemary DistrictOur recommendation for rooms whose size is known throughout: the Art Ovation Hotel Sarasota at Pineapple Corner.
Our recommendation for the credit, for suites and for the position on the water: The Ritz-Carlton Sarasota at Golden Gate Point.
For orientation: Sarasota lies on the Gulf of Mexico, screened by the barrier islands of Lido Key and Siesta Key, whose sand is ninety-nine per cent quartz and therefore never gets hot. On St. Armands Key lies St. Armands Circle, a roundabout ringed with shops, laid out by John Ringling – the same circus proprietor whose collection now fills the Ringling Museum, with his Venetian-styled mansion Ca’ d’Zan beside it. To the east begins Myakka River State Park and its alligators.
The best hotels in Sarasota offer 44 room categories between them.
At The Sarasota Modern there are 24 categories – more than the other two together. Nine are called Deluxe, six Residential, three Deluxe Studio. Our travel advisors can give you the sizes there.
At The Ritz-Carlton Sarasota there are 15 categories; the sizes run from 38 through 56, 65 and 119 up to 221 square metres. Two categories have a separate bedroom.
At the Art Ovation Hotel Sarasota there are five categories, four at 37 square metres and one at 74.
On the view there is a marina view four times, a city view three times and a view of the bay twice.
The median price is 292 € per night. The Sarasota Modern costs 134 €, the Art Ovation Hotel Sarasota 292 € and The Ritz-Carlton Sarasota 521 € – nearly four times the entry at the top end.

When it is most pleasant: from November to April. Dry, mild, and the stone crab season is on.
When to book early: from February to March, at the peak of the season.
When to think twice: from June to October – humid, with daily thunderstorms, and it is hurricane season.
And whatever the date: you get the suitespot benefits in July exactly as in February.
How long to stay: three to four nights – one for the beaches, one for the Ringling Museum, one for the Myakka River.
You earn points and status at all three through Marriott Bonvoy – at this destination that is the real argument.
What our travel advisors arrange most often in Sarasota is the morning at the Ringling Museum – not for the circus but for the Rubens cartoons a circus proprietor bought in the 1920s when nobody else wanted them.
Personal luxury travel adviceOur travel advisors personally accompany your booking – 365 days a year, from the first offer to late check-out. Reach the suitespot VIP service via email or WhatsApp.Phone: +49 30 81452346 · hotel@suitespot.comThen: Ca’ d’Zan, the Ringlings’ residence, modelled on a Venetian palazzo; Siesta Key with its quartz sand; the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens with one of the largest orchid collections in the world; St. Armands Circle for an evening stroll; the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall, lavender and shell-shaped; and Myakka River State Park, where a canopy walkway crosses the oak woods.
And the cooking of the Gulf coast, plainer than its reputation and better than its prices: the grouper sandwich, on every corner and rarely the same twice; stone crab claws between October and May, where only the claw is taken and the animal goes back; Gulf shrimp; and key lime pie, whose sharpness comes from a lime smaller than a golf ball.
At all three hotels breakfast, an upgrade subject to availability, a late check-out and Marriott Bonvoy are part of the stay – four benefits with no gap. A welcome gift is added at The Sarasota Modern and the Art Ovation Hotel Sarasota.
Breakfast is served at The Sarasota Modern in Wink Wink Food & Drink and at The Ritz-Carlton Sarasota in Jack Dusty.
And the real advantage of this destination is not one that appears on a benefit list: that every property at a destination belongs to the same group happens at only seven of 340 destinations. So here you can decide by the property rather than by the programme – just tell our travel advisors what kind of property it should be.
