Your Guide to the Best Luxury Hotels in Waimea

Waimea is cowboy country: in the uplands of Hawaii Island, Parker Ranch cattle graze on green pastures, the evenings are cool, and the paniolo, Hawaii's cowboys, still shape the town. The luxury hotels in Waimea, however, sit down on the Kohala Coast, where black lava fields meet white-sand bays. Looking for a 5-star hotel in Waimea means staying by the ocean and driving up to town for an afternoon of ranch scenery and fresh air.Mauna Kea Beach HotelMauna Kea Beach HotelFans of architecture and history stay at the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, which Laurance Rockefeller opened on Kauna’oa Bay in 1965. For spa lovers and snorkelers we recommend the Fairmont Orchid Hawaii, with open-air treatment huts and sea turtles in Pauoa Bay. The Mauna Lani holds a Michelin Key, and if you collect Marriott Bonvoy points and want a long sandy beach on your doorstep, book The Westin Hapuna Beach Resort.
