Six Senses Qing Cheng Mountain · Dujiangyan CityEvery booking through suitespot comes with a comprehensive package of suitespot benefits:Chengdu's best-known properties are in the city centre: the Waldorf Astoria Chengdu is our highest-rated house in the city at 4.6, The Ritz-Carlton and The St. Regis both sit in the Qingyang district near downtown, and the Grand Hyatt stands directly on the Chunxi Road shopping street.
Alongside them, a whole series of younger addresses has appeared: W Chengdu and the Hotel Indigo Financial City in the Gaoxin high-tech district, the JW Marriott and the Upper House Chengdu in Jinjiang, plus The Langbo in the WIFC financial tower. By the river sits the Shangri-La, while outside the city the Six Senses Qing Cheng Mountain and the Ocean Spring Resort offer hot-spring resorts.
If you are looking for the most luxurious hotel room in Chengdu, the answer is unusually broad: twelve of the 16 properties have their own suite categories, and the top tiers of the international brands cost far less here than in Europe.
Waldorf Astoria Chengdu · High-Tech Zone (South)The longest range belongs to The St. Regis Chengdu with seven categories – from Metropolitan and Manhattan through Lafayette and Governor to the Empire and Presidential Suite. The Waldorf Astoria Chengdu matches that with seven of its own, including Prestige, Royal and the Waldorf Astoria Ambassador Suite. At the Grand Hyatt the range tops out with the Chairman Suite, at The Ritz-Carlton with the Presidential Suite.Personal luxury travel adviceOur travel advisors personally accompany your booking – 365 days a year, from the first offer to late check-out. Reach the suitespot VIP service via email or WhatsApp.Phone: +49 30 81452346 · hotel@suitespot.comAway from the large brands it gets more characterful: the Upper House Chengdu in Jinjiang is the most expensive property in our Chengdu selection at around EUR 310 per night and offers Loft and Deluxe Courtyard categories alongside the Temple and Deluxe Temple Suite. W Chengdu grades its rooms in the brand's own way – Fantastic, Fabulous, WOW – and the YiuTeung Mansion offers Dream and Studio categories.
Dedicated family categories are available at the Waldorf Astoria, The Ritz-Carlton, JW Marriott, Upper House and – twice over – at the Six Senses Qing Cheng Mountain. Tell our travel advisors the occasion and who is travelling; they will put together the right category.
Chengdu is the best value luxury destination in our Asian portfolio: the median entry rate is around EUR 128 per night – for properties such as the Ritz-Carlton, St. Regis or Waldorf Astoria, which cost three to four times as much in Europe. If you have ever wanted to book a suite, this is the place: top categories are rarely this affordable.
If you are after a high-floor room with a city view, the tower addresses are the right choice – The Langbo Chengdu in Tower 2 of the WIFC, W Chengdu and the Hotel Indigo Financial City in the Gaoxin high-tech district. Register a high-floor request through our travel advisors before you arrive; otherwise floors are only allocated at check-in.
Chengdu is sprawling, laid out in rings around the historic centre – the luxury hotels cluster in three areas plus two resorts outside the city.
The St. Regis Chengdu · ChunxiluThe metro connects the districts reliably, but allow extra time for journeys out to the high-tech district.
In the Qingyang district near downtown you will find The Ritz-Carlton Chengdu on Shuncheng Avenue and The St. Regis Chengdu on Taisheng Road South. Directly on the Chunxi Road shopping street sits the Grand Hyatt Chengdu, and by the river the Shangri-La Chengdu on Binjiang Dong Road. This is the area to choose for a 5-star hotel in central Chengdu.
The Jinjiang district east of the old town is home to the Upper House Chengdu on Bitieshi Street and the JW Marriott Hotel Chengdu on Dongyu Street, as well as The Langbo Chengdu in the WIFC financial tower on Xiadong Street.
The modern towers are in the south: W Chengdu on Jiaozi Avenue, the Hotel Indigo Chengdu Financial City in the high-tech district, the Gran Meliá Chengdu on Jincheng Avenue and the InterContinental Chengdu Global Center in Wuhou – the last of these one of the most affordable entry points at around EUR 100 per night.
About an hour's drive north-west lies the Six Senses Qing Cheng Mountain in Dujiangyan, at the foot of UNESCO-listed Mount Qingcheng. Also outside the city: the Ocean Spring Resort Chengdu and the Chengdu Expo Waterfall Hotel, which at around EUR 95 per night is the most affordable entry point in the portfolio.
Chengdu is a UNESCO City of Gastronomy and the capital of Sichuan cuisine – and the hotels take their restaurants accordingly seriously. The international brands in the centre, above all The Ritz-Carlton, The St. Regis and the Waldorf Astoria, each run their own Chinese restaurants alongside Western dining.
The Ritz-Carlton Chengdu · XiyuheYour suitespot hotel credit of up to USD 100 per stay can be redeemed directly in the restaurant or bar at many properties – at Chengdu price levels that covers several meals. Because the rules differ by hotel, our travel advisors clarify before you arrive where it is best used.
Chengdu is better set up for wellness than most large Chinese cities – and the reason is the hot springs in the surrounding area.
The clearest address is the Six Senses Qing Cheng Mountain in Dujiangyan: the property has dedicated room categories at the springs – the Six Senses Hot Spring Suite and the Courtyard Hot Spring Suite – as well as a Spring category. Six Senses as a brand is explicitly built around spa and wellness, and the setting at UNESCO-listed Mount Qingcheng makes this a destination for longer stays rather than a city break.
Also built around springs is the Ocean Spring Resort Chengdu outside the city. Within Chengdu itself, the major brands – Waldorf Astoria, The Ritz-Carlton, The St. Regis and Shangri-La – have their own spa and fitness facilities.
Because facilities and opening hours change, our travel advisors check the current status for your preferred property before booking. And with late check-out subject to availability from your suitespot benefits, you can extend that final spa morning.
The request our guests make most often in Chengdu is an early visit to the panda breeding centre – the animals are most active in the morning, so the concierge teams arrange departures before opening time. Add to that excursions to the Dujiangyan irrigation system and Mount Qingcheng, both UNESCO World Heritage sites, and tickets for Sichuan opera with its face-changing performances.Personal luxury travel adviceOur travel advisors personally accompany your booking – 365 days a year, from the first offer to late check-out. suitespot rates are genuine direct rates: you keep earning regular points and elite nights in the hotel's loyalty program and retain your status benefits – on top of your suitespot benefits. These programs are represented in Chengdu:

| Marriott Bonvoy | 4 hotels | The St. Regis Chengdu, The Ritz-Carlton Chengdu, JW Marriott Hotel Chengdu … |
| IHG One Rewards | 3 hotels | Six Senses Qing Cheng Mountain, Hotel Indigo Chengdu Financial City, InterContinental Chengdu Global Center |
| ALL (Accor) | 2 hotels | Ocean Spring Resort Chengdu, Chengdu Expo Waterfall Hotel |
| World of Hyatt | 2 hotels | Grand Hyatt Chengdu, The Langbo Chengdu |
| Hilton Honors | 1 hotel | Waldorf Astoria Chengdu |
| Shangri-La Golden Circle | 1 hotel | Shangri-La Chengdu |
Chengdu is the best-value luxury destination in our Asian portfolio. Entry rates across the 16 properties start at around EUR 95 per night (Chengdu Expo Waterfall Hotel) and reach approximately EUR 310 per night at the Upper House Chengdu – depending on season, room category and availability. The median entry rate is around EUR 128 per night: properties such as The Ritz-Carlton, The St. Regis and the Waldorf Astoria all start in that range, a fraction of what their European sister hotels cost. You always book direct rates through suitespot, and the benefits worth over EUR 500 come on top.
By entry price, the Upper House Chengdu in the Jinjiang district leads at around EUR 310 per night; its top categories are the Deluxe Temple Suite and the Deluxe Courtyard category. The widest choice of top suites, however, belongs to The St. Regis Chengdu and the Waldorf Astoria Chengdu, with seven categories each – at the St. Regis up to the Empire and Presidential Suite, at the Waldorf Astoria up to the Royal Suite. The Grand Hyatt Chengdu has its own top tier in the Chairman Suite. Our travel advisors know the layouts and check availability directly with the hotel.
Yes. suitespot rates are genuine direct rates: you earn regular points and elite nights in the respective hotel program – in Chengdu including Marriott Bonvoy (4 hotels: Ritz-Carlton, St. Regis, JW Marriott, W), IHG Rewards (3: Six Senses, Hotel Indigo, InterContinental), World of Hyatt (2: Grand Hyatt, The Langbo), ALL (2), Hilton Honors (Waldorf Astoria) and Shangri-La Golden Circle. You keep status benefits such as lounge access or upgrades; the suitespot benefits come on top.
The most pronounced is the Six Senses Qing Cheng Mountain in Dujiangyan: it has dedicated room categories at the hot springs – the Six Senses Hot Spring Suite and the Courtyard Hot Spring Suite – and sits at the foot of UNESCO-listed Mount Qingcheng, about an hour's drive outside the city. Also built around thermal water is the Ocean Spring Resort Chengdu. Within the city, the Waldorf Astoria, The Ritz-Carlton, The St. Regis and Shangri-La have their own spa and fitness facilities. Tell our travel advisors whether hot springs or a city spa matters more to you.
The tower addresses are the ones to look at: The Langbo Chengdu in Tower 2 of the WIFC financial centre, W Chengdu on Jiaozi Avenue and the Hotel Indigo Chengdu Financial City in the Gaoxin high-tech district. The Grand Hyatt Chengdu on Chunxi Road and the InterContinental Chengdu Global Center also occupy high-rise buildings. The YiuTeung Mansion additionally offers a dedicated Studio category.
Because floors are usually only allocated at check-in, it pays to ask early: our travel advisors register a high-floor and view request with the hotel before you arrive.
By our ratings, the Waldorf Astoria Chengdu leads with 4.6. Which is best for you depends on the purpose of the trip: for a city break with short distances, The Ritz-Carlton and The St. Regis in Qingyang and the Grand Hyatt on Chunxi Road are the obvious choices. For design and dining, the Jinjiang district with Upper House and JW Marriott is worth it. For relaxation, the Six Senses Qing Cheng Mountain outside the city is the clear recommendation. And if price matters, the InterContinental Global Center (from around EUR 100) and the Shangri-La (from around EUR 108) are very strong entry points.
