Fairmont Mayakoba Playa del CarmenWith every booking through suitespot you receive a comprehensive package of suitespot benefits:In the Zona Hotelera along Boulevard Kukulcán stand ten properties: the Hyatt Ziva Cancun at Punta Cancún (from around 520 €), the NIZUC Resort Cancun at Punta Nizuc (504 €), the Hyatt Zilara Cancun (452 €), the Hilton Cancun Mar Caribe (398 €), the Marriott Cancun Resort (348 €), the Paradisus Cancún (341 €), the Kempinski Cancun (290 €), the InterContinental Presidente Cancun Resort (273 €), the JW Marriott Cancun Resort (270 €) and the Live Aqua Cancun, for which no entry rate is recorded with us.
North of the city come five more: the Hotel Mousai Cancún at Punta Sam (753 €, the highest entry rate in the selection), the St Regis Costa Mujeres Cancun (664 €), the SLS Playa Mujeres (364 €), the Garza Blanca Resort & Spa Cancun (318 €) and the SLS Cancun near Puerto Juárez (162 €, the lowest entry rate in the selection).
South of the city, on the Riviera Maya, stand five as well: the Secrets Impression Moxché Playa del Carmen (701 €), the Fairmont Mayakoba Playa del Carmen (487 €), the Waldorf Astoria Cancun (369 €), the Hilton Cancun All-Inclusive Resort (328 €) and the Haven Riviera Cancún (269 €).
This is the check we consider the most important one at this destination, and its result is worth reading closely.
SLS Cancun · Puerto JuarezSix of our 20 properties carry an all-inclusive rate with us: the Hyatt Ziva Cancun (from around 520 €), the Hyatt Zilara Cancun (452 €), the Hilton Cancun Mar Caribe (398 €), the SLS Playa Mujeres (364 €), the Secrets Impression Moxché in Playa del Carmen (701 €) and the Live Aqua Cancun.Personal luxury travel adviceOur travel advisors personally accompany your booking – 365 days a year, from the first offer to late check-out. Reach the suitespot VIP service via email or WhatsApp.Phone: +49 30 81452346 · hotel@suitespot.comAnd here is the point of checking at all: the Hilton Cancun All-Inclusive Resort carries the words in its name but no all-inclusive benefit in our records. We check the benefit recorded for each property rather than the name or the marketing – and in Cancún, where all-inclusive is the most common reason to book, those two things come apart.
If all-inclusive is the point of the trip, say so before you book. We will then tell you property by property and date by date what is actually included – a better conversation beforehand than at the front desk.
At all 20, a booking through suitespot includes breakfast for two, a room upgrade subject to availability and up to 100 USD hotel credit per stay in any case.
The most useful thing to know about Cancún is the distance. On a list the selection looks like one city; in reality it is a stretch of coast around 69 kilometres long, from the SLS Playa Mujeres in the north to the Secrets Impression Moxché at Playa del Carmen. Anyone expecting the Zona Hotelera and landing south of Puerto Morelos has a daily drive they did not plan for.
Second, the price distribution: both extremes of our selection sit north of the city. The most expensive property (Hotel Mousai, 753 €) and the cheapest (SLS Cancun, 162 €) are only a few kilometres apart, so the rate tells you nothing about the location here.
Third: for the Riviera Maya proper we keep a separate page for Playa del Carmen with 14 properties. If you are heading south anyway, start there – the field is larger and reaches considerably higher.
On timing: December to April is dry and reliable, and the most expensive. May and November are the value windows. June to October falls within the Atlantic hurricane season, which is why rates are lowest then – ask us to check the cancellation terms before you commit.
The name Cancún covers three very different stretches of coast here, and choosing the wrong one means a daily drive nobody planned for.
JW Marriott Cancun ResortThese are the three stretches in our selection.
Ten properties along the classic strip, roughly twelve kilometres from Punta Cancún in the north to Punta Nizuc in the south: the Hyatt Ziva Cancun (from around 520 €), the NIZUC Resort Cancun (504 €), the Hyatt Zilara Cancun (452 €), the Hilton Cancun Mar Caribe (398 €), the Marriott Cancun Resort (348 €), the Paradisus Cancún (341 €), the Kempinski Cancun (290 €), the InterContinental Presidente (273 €), the JW Marriott Cancun Resort (270 €) and the Live Aqua Cancun. This is the address to choose if you want to leave the hotel every day.
Quieter and largely newer, at the cost of extra driving time: the Hotel Mousai Cancún (753 €, the most expensive in the selection), the St Regis Costa Mujeres Cancun (664 €), the SLS Playa Mujeres (364 €), the Garza Blanca Resort & Spa Cancun (318 €) and the SLS Cancun (162 €, the cheapest). This stretch holds both ends of our price range.
Five properties south of the Zona Hotelera, between around 20 and 55 kilometres from Punta Nizuc: the Secrets Impression Moxché Playa del Carmen (701 €), the Fairmont Mayakoba Playa del Carmen (487 €), the Waldorf Astoria Cancun (369 €), the Hilton Cancun All-Inclusive Resort (328 €) and the Haven Riviera Cancún (269 €). The first two carry Playa del Carmen in the address outright – that is a destination of its own.
Cancún airport lies south of the city, which puts it close to everything to the south. The Zona Hotelera is 20 to 40 minutes away depending on the kilometre marker, Costa Mujeres and Playa Mujeres in the north more like 45 to 60, and Playa del Carmen in the south around an hour. Worth knowing if you land in the evening – and if you are travelling without a hire car, ask before booking rather than after.
The highest entry rate in our selection belongs to the Hotel Mousai Cancún at Punta Sam at around 753 € per night, with Ultra, Ultra Corner and Corner suite categories. It is followed by the Secrets Impression Moxché at Playa del Carmen (701 €), the St Regis Costa Mujeres Cancun (664 €), the Hyatt Ziva Cancun at Punta Cancún (520 €) and the NIZUC Resort Cancun at Punta Nizuc (504 €).
Hotel Mousai Cancun · EscénicaWhat is interesting about that list is where it stands: three of the five most expensive properties are not in the Zona Hotelera, but north or south of it. Only two of the five are on the classic strip – the Hyatt Ziva at its northern end and the NIZUC at its southern one.
In Cancún, paying more therefore often means moving away from the centre of things rather than closer to it. That is not a judgement – if you want quiet, this is exactly what is on offer – but it is the information you need before booking.
Entry rates in our selection run from 162 € at the SLS Cancun to 753 € at the Hotel Mousai Cancún. The median of the nineteen properties with a recorded rate is 364 €. Across the whole selection that is a factor of roughly four and a half between the two ends.
Below 300 €, alongside the SLS Cancun, sit the Kempinski Cancun (290 €), the InterContinental Presidente (273 €), the JW Marriott Cancun Resort (270 €) and the Haven Riviera Cancún (269 €).
One note for completeness: no entry rate is recorded with us for the Live Aqua Cancun. It therefore appears in none of the figures above – the range, the median and the ordering are all calculated across the nineteen properties that have one. For its rate on your dates, ask your travel advisor directly.
For comparison further south: our Playa del Carmen page lists 14 properties with a median of about 680 € – that field starts lower and reaches considerably higher.
What our travel advisors are asked for most in Cancún are the day trips to Chichén Itzá and Tulum, the cenotes inland and the ferry to Isla Mujeres, where we list two further properties. Add to that diving and boat days on the Mesoamerican Reef, and restaurant reservations, which fill early in the winter weeks.Personal luxury travel adviceOur travel advisors personally accompany your booking – 365 days a year, from the first offer to late check-out. Reach the suitespot VIP service via email or WhatsApp.Phone: +49 30 81452346 · hotel@suitespot.comFor families: seven of our 20 properties list an explicit family category – the Paradisus Cancún three (Family, Family Concierge, Family Luxury), the Fairmont Mayakoba, the Hilton Cancun All-Inclusive Resort and the Waldorf Astoria Cancun two each, and the St Regis Costa Mujeres, the SLS Playa Mujeres and the Garza Blanca one each.
As a suitespot guest you travel with VIP status at all 20 properties: we pass your preferences on before you arrive – in Cancún usually a room facing the sea, or a quieter part of the grounds away from the pool bar. On top of that come breakfast for two, a room upgrade subject to availability, early check-in and late check-out subject to availability and up to 100 USD hotel credit per stay. You go on earning points and status benefits as usual at the 18 properties that belong to a programme.
suitespot rates are genuine direct rates: you keep earning regular points and elite nights in the hotel's loyalty program and retain your status benefits – on top of your suitespot benefits. These programs are represented in Cancún:
| Program | Hotels | Examples in Cancún |
|---|---|---|
| I Prefer | 5 hotels | Hotel Mousai Cancun, Haven Riviera Cancun, NIZUC Resort Cancun … |
| ALL (Accor) | 3 hotels | Fairmont Mayakoba Playa del Carmen, SLS Cancun, SLS Playa Mujeres |
| Marriott Bonvoy | 3 hotels | JW Marriott Cancun Resort, St Regis Costa Mujeres Cancun, Marriott Cancun Resort |
| World of Hyatt | 3 hotels | Hyatt Zilara Cancun, Hyatt Ziva Cancun, Secrets Impression Moxché Playa del Carmen |
| Hilton Honors | 2 hotels | Hilton Cancún All-Inclusive Resort, Hilton Cancun Mar Caribe |
| GHA Discovery | 1 hotel | Kempinski Cancun |
| IHG One Rewards | 1 hotel | InterContinental Presidente Cancun Resort |
Entry rates for our 20 properties run from around 162 € per night at the SLS Cancun to about 753 € at the Hotel Mousai Cancún. The median of the nineteen properties with a recorded rate is 364 €.
Below 300 € you will also find the Kempinski Cancun (290 €), the InterContinental Presidente (273 €), the JW Marriott Cancun Resort (270 €) and the Haven Riviera Cancún (269 €); above it the Garza Blanca (318 €) and the SLS Playa Mujeres (364 €).
Worth knowing: three of the five most expensive properties are not in the Zona Hotelera but north or south of it.
With suitespot you always book at direct rates, and the benefits worth more than 500 € come on top.
Six of the twenty – and the list is not the one the names suggest. Carrying an all-inclusive rate are the Hyatt Ziva Cancun (from around 520 €), the Hyatt Zilara Cancun (452 €), the Hilton Cancun Mar Caribe (398 €), the SLS Playa Mujeres (364 €), the Secrets Impression Moxché (701 €, at Playa del Carmen) and the Live Aqua Cancun.
The Hilton Cancun All-Inclusive Resort carries the words in its name but no all-inclusive benefit in our records. We check the recorded benefit rather than the name.
If all-inclusive is the point of the trip, say so before booking – we will tell you property by property and date by date what is included.
The name Cancún covers three very different stretches of coast.
The Zona Hotelera along Boulevard Kukulcán holds ten of our properties over roughly twelve kilometres and is the most practical base if you want to leave the hotel every day.
North of the city – Puerto Juárez, Punta Sam, Playa Mujeres and Costa Mujeres – stand five, quieter and largely newer, but with extra driving time.
And south, on the Riviera Maya, stand another five, two of them with a Playa del Carmen address – a destination of its own, for which we keep a separate page.
No, and we would rather say so beforehand. Ten of the twenty stand in the Zona Hotelera along Boulevard Kukulcán.
Five lie north of the city at Puerto Juárez, Punta Sam, Playa Mujeres and Costa Mujeres: the SLS Cancun, the Hotel Mousai, the SLS Playa Mujeres, the Garza Blanca and the St Regis Costa Mujeres.
Another five lie south of it on the Riviera Maya: the Haven Riviera Cancún, the Hilton Cancun All-Inclusive Resort, the Waldorf Astoria Cancun, plus the Fairmont Mayakoba and the Secrets Impression Moxché, both of which carry Playa del Carmen in the address.
Around 69 kilometres separate the northernmost property from the southernmost. If you are expecting the Zona Hotelera, that is worth knowing before you book.
By entry rate, the Hotel Mousai Cancún at Punta Sam, at around 753 € per night, with Ultra, Ultra Corner and Corner suite categories.
It is followed by the Secrets Impression Moxché (701 €, at Playa del Carmen), the St Regis Costa Mujeres (664 €), the Hyatt Ziva Cancun (520 €) and the NIZUC Resort at Punta Nizuc (504 €).
The notable part is where they are: three of these five stand outside the Zona Hotelera. Only the Hyatt Ziva at Punta Cancún and the NIZUC at Punta Nizuc are on the classic strip – and the Hyatt Ziva is also the only one of the five with an all-inclusive rate.
Yes, at 18 of the 20 properties. iPrefer leads with five (Hotel Mousai, Haven Riviera, NIZUC, Live Aqua, Garza Blanca), followed by ALL (Fairmont Mayakoba, SLS Cancun, SLS Playa Mujeres), Marriott Bonvoy (JW Marriott, St Regis Costa Mujeres, Marriott Cancun Resort) and World of Hyatt (Hyatt Zilara, Hyatt Ziva, Secrets Impression Moxché) with three each, Hilton Honors with two, and IHG Rewards and GHA Discovery with one each.
Two properties take part in no programme: the Paradisus Cancún and the Waldorf Astoria Cancun. The suitespot benefits apply there in the same way.
Seven of the twenty list an explicit family category. The Paradisus Cancún has three (Family, Family Concierge, Family Luxury), the Fairmont Mayakoba two connecting-room categories, the Hilton Cancun All-Inclusive Resort and the Waldorf Astoria Cancun Connecting and Family categories each, and the St Regis Costa Mujeres, the SLS Playa Mujeres and the Garza Blanca one each.
Check all-inclusive separately: six properties here carry it – and not always the ones whose names suggest it.
December to April is the dry and most reliable stretch, with calm sea and the highest rates. May and November are the value windows, with the water still warm.
June to October falls within the Atlantic hurricane season, which is why rates are lowest then; summer also brings the sargassum seaweed, which hits the beaches in patches and which no hotel can reliably predict.
Ask us to check the cancellation terms for those dates before you commit – on this coast that is the more important part of the planning.
