What lies within reach: the Silvretta Arena, which joins Samnaun and Ischgl into one ski area; Alp Trida at 2,260 metres, reached by cable car; and the row of shops itself, which exists in this form only here: Samnaun is a customs exclusion zone, a legacy of the time when the valley was hard to reach from Switzerland.
On arrival: from Landeck it is 27 kilometres through the Inn valley and then up into the side valley; the nearest large airport is Innsbruck, 83 kilometres away. Anyone coming from Switzerland drives through Austria – the road into the valley crosses the border at Martina.
