Almyra Hotel: our hand-picked 5-star hotel in Paphos. Book through suitespot and breakfast for two, a room upgrade subject to availability, hotel credit and VIP service come with it – worth over €500 together.
Almyra Hotel Paphos · Kato PaphosThe lower part is called Kato Paphos. That is where the Roman mosaics of the archaeological park are, along with the harbour mole and the seafront. For this guide we reviewed the best hotels in Paphos and chose one: the Almyra, a 5-star hotel.A night at the Almyra Hotel Paphos costs €154. That includes breakfast for two, an upgrade on arrival subject to availability, early check-in and late check-out subject to availability and – depending on the category you book – a wine tasting or a dinner for two. You keep earning Marriott Bonvoy points and status benefits as usual.
Why we recommend it: at €154 the list holds breakfast for two and a second item on top – the most affordable entry in this entire guide. For that you get a family-run hotel in tropical gardens directly on the sea, a member of Design Hotels, with five freshwater pools and four restaurants – and five minutes on foot to the harbour of Paphos.
One feature of this destination is worth knowing before you book, because it turns the category into the decision.
Room or suite determines the benefit. Book a room and you receive a complimentary wine tasting for two. Book a suite and you receive a complimentary dinner for two at the Ouzeri restaurant instead. So it is one or the other, not both – and that is worth counting in when you compare prices between the categories. Our travel advisors will do the arithmetic with you.
The spa is reserved for adults. The hotel itself expressly is not – there are five Family Connecting categories, that is, connecting units for families. Only the spa stays quiet.
The benefits apply from the first night. On an island that likes to sell by the week, that is the practical point.
The Almyra stands at 12 Poseidonos Avenue, in Kato Paphos – the lower town, the harbour one.
Our recommendation for a first visit to Paphos: stay below, not above. From Poseidonos Avenue it is five minutes on foot to the harbour, and the archaeological park with the Roman mosaics begins right behind.
The island is manageable. Paphos airport is about 15 kilometres east – a quarter of an hour. Limassol is a good 60 kilometres along the coast.
In the other direction, to the north, the Akamas peninsula begins: the undeveloped part of Cyprus, with bays you reach only on foot or by boat.
The hotel offers 14 categories between 28 and 98 square metres, and five of them are suites.
The rooms start at 28 square metres – as Room, with terrace, with balcony, as Superior and as the Aethon Premium Room. Above them come the Family Connecting categories at 56 and, as the veranda variant, 63 square metres: connecting units for families.
The suites open with the Junior Suite at 35, run through the Sea Front Kyma Suite at 47, the Deluxe Suite at 53 and the Suite at 55, and end with the Family Connecting Kyma Suite at 98 square metres – the largest unit in the hotel.
On the view: most categories look out to the sea, the rest inland. Our travel advisors recommend the Sea View Room.
A night at the luxury hotel in Paphos costs €154. The suitespot benefits apply from the first night.
When it is at its best: May and from September to early November. The sea is warm, the midday heat has gone, and the excavations are no fun without shade.
When it is busiest: July and August. Paphos is a beach resort then, and the coast gets hot.
When it is quietest: December to February. Cyprus has mild days even in winter – for walking the Akamas it is the best time of the year.
How long to stay: four to five nights. One for the harbour and the mosaics, one for the Tombs of the Kings, one for the Akamas, one for doing nothing by the pool.
On the minimum stay: there is none. A single night brings you the full package.
And whatever the date: you get the suitespot benefits in the quietest week of the year just as you do in the busiest.
Paphos works because three very different things lie side by side.
Personal luxury travel adviceOur travel advisors personally accompany your booking – 365 days a year, from the first offer to late check-out. Reach the suitespot VIP service via email or WhatsApp.Phone: +49 30 81452346 · hotel@suitespot.comThe first is the mosaics. The archaeological park of Kato Paphos holds Roman villa floors from the second to the fourth century, and they are why the place is on the World Heritage list. You walk over them on boardwalks – and you need a hat.
The second is the coast. The sea lies in front of the hotel, and further east along the coast road stands the rock that legend assigns to Aphrodite. If you would rather swim than sightsee, both are within reach.
The third is the Akamas. The peninsula in the north-west is the part of Cyprus nobody built on: scrub, gorges, a few bays. A day trip from Paphos – and the opposite of the promenade.
What our travel advisors arrange most often here is the right category – because the tasting or the dinner hangs on it – and the late check-out on the day you leave, because the last morning at one of the five pools is the best one.
