Next to it stands a room with a partial harbour view. It means what it says – a piece of harbour, not the whole. Anyone wanting the harbour books the Marina View, not the room next door.
Then the package, and here reading pays: breakfast comes as a credit of 40 US dollars per day, redeemable at Cast & Plow or in the room, for at most two people and for the continental breakfast. The hotel credit of 100 US dollars applies to recreational activities – tennis, spa, boats –, not to the bar. Plus the upgrade on arrival, Bonvoy points and late check-out. No minimum stay.

Our advice: Book the Marina View by name and read the credit as a credit. 40 US dollars is a continental breakfast for two, not a buffet; anyone wanting more pays the difference. And put the 100 US dollars on the tennis court or into the spa – that is what they are for.

Our recommendation is therefore for anyone wanting to take Los Angeles from the water – and for anyone needing an airport within reach and still quiet in the evening.
What lies within reach: Venice Beach with the boardwalk, Muscle Beach and the canals, ten minutes by bike; Abbot Kinney Boulevard with the shops and restaurants, a mile; and Santa Monica with the pier and Third Street Promenade, a quarter of an hour by car.
For orientation: LAX is a quarter of an hour away, which in Los Angeles is an argument; Beverly Hills and Hollywood half an hour to an hour, depending on traffic. In Marina del Rey one cycles or sails; for everything else one needs the car.
