InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown · City WestWith every booking through suitespot you receive a comprehensive package of suitespot benefits:Santa Monica holds the largest concentration with nine properties, among them the Regent Santa Monica Beach on Ocean Avenue (from around 810 €, rated 4.5), the Oceana Santa Monica (730 €, 4.4), Casa Del Mar (530 €, 4.1), the Fairmont Miramar (480 €), Shutters on the Beach (438 €, 4.7) and the Sandbourne Santa Monica (284 €).
Downtown has seven: The Ritz-Carlton Los Angeles (500 €), the Conrad Los Angeles on Grand Avenue (420 €, 4.6), the Downtown LA Proper (330 €), the InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown and the JW Marriott Los Angeles L.A. LIVE (250 € each), the Hotel Per La (250 €) and the Hotel Figueroa (180 €), the lowest entry rate in our selection here.
In the city of Beverly Hills stand four addresses: The Maybourne Beverly Hills (930 €), the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills (810 €, 4.7), the Viceroy L'Ermitage (640 €) and the Avalon Hotel Beverly Hills (290 €). In West Hollywood, four more: The West Hollywood EDITION (570 €), The Sun Rose (440 €), the Kimpton La Peer (340 €, 4.2) and the Andaz West Hollywood (300 €).
Suites are the single most-asked-for category in Los Angeles, and the city names them after itself. The pattern is worth knowing before you book, because the category name tells you what you are actually getting.
Conrad Los Angeles · Little Tokyo Historic DistrictAt The Beverly Hills Hotel the suites are called Crescent, Garden, Rodeo and Williams; at the Hotel Bel-Air they are the Canyon, Swan Lake, Patio and Premier Canyon suites, named after the property's own grounds. The Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills lists a Beverly Hills, a Hollywood, a Villa and a Governor Penthouse suite; the Cameo Beverly Hills a Sunset Boulevard and a Hollywood suite. At the Fairmont Miramar in Santa Monica the top categories are Bungalow and Bi-Level Bungalow, plus Palisades and Palisades Grand — a garden layout rather than a floor in a tower.Personal luxury travel adviceOur travel advisors personally accompany your booking – 365 days a year, from the first offer to late check-out. Reach the suitespot VIP service via email or WhatsApp.Phone: +49 30 81452346 · hotel@suitespot.comDowntown works differently. The Conrad Los Angeles stacks three penthouses on top of each other — Skyline Penthouse Presidential, Grand Penthouse and Conrad Penthouse — while the JW Marriott L.A. LIVE lists Hospitality, Griffin, JW and Chairman suites built for events rather than for views. The widest choice in the city belongs to the Viceroy L'Ermitage Beverly Hills with eight suite categories, from Classic up to Grand Heritage.
If a suite is the point of the trip, tell our travel advisors which of these you have in mind. The names are not interchangeable, and the difference between a Bungalow in Santa Monica and a Penthouse Downtown is not one of price alone.
The most useful thing to know about Los Angeles is that the city is not walkable and distances are measured in time, not kilometres. Santa Monica to Downtown is thirty minutes to well over an hour depending on traffic; Pasadena to the beach is much the same. Choose the area around where your days will actually happen.
Second, the coastal cloud of May and June. In Santa Monica and Malibu grey mornings until midday are common in those weeks, while inland the city is already clear. If you are travelling then and want sun from breakfast onwards, Beverly Hills, Hollywood or Downtown are the safer bet.
Third, the programmes: Marriott Bonvoy is dominant with 16 of the 48 properties, ahead of iPrefer and IHG Rewards (5 each), Hilton Honors and World of Hyatt (4 each) and ALL (3). Nine properties take part in no loyalty programme, among them both Dorchester Collection houses, The Maybourne and The Peninsula.
Los Angeles is not one city but a run of separate cities and neighbourhoods, and the distance between them is measured in driving time rather than in kilometres.
Sofitel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills · Beverly HillsThese five areas cover our selection.
The densest part of our selection with nine properties, four of them on Ocean Avenue itself: the Regent Santa Monica Beach at number 1700 (from around 810 €), the Sandbourne at 1740 (284 €), the Viceroy Santa Monica at 1819 (350 €) and the Oceana at 849 (730 €). On the sand sit Shutters on the Beach at One Pico Boulevard (438 €) and Casa Del Mar on Ocean Way (530 €); a block back, the Fairmont Miramar (480 €), the Huntley (420 €) and Le Méridien Delfina (470 €).
Two independent cities side by side. In Beverly Hills, by address: The Maybourne on North Canon Drive (930 €), the Waldorf Astoria on Wilshire Boulevard (810 €), the Viceroy L'Ermitage on Burton Way (640 €) and the Avalon on West Olympic Boulevard (290 €), the least expensive way to sleep inside the city limits. In West Hollywood: The West Hollywood EDITION on Sunset Boulevard (570 €), The Sun Rose at 8430 on the same street (440 €), the Andaz at 8401 directly opposite (300 €) and the Kimpton La Peer one street south (340 €).
Seven properties and by some distance the most affordable area: The Ritz-Carlton Los Angeles and the JW Marriott L.A. LIVE, both at 900 West Olympic Boulevard (500 € and 250 €), the Conrad on Grand Avenue (420 €), the Downtown LA Proper on South Broadway (330 €), the InterContinental on Wilshire Boulevard (250 €), the Hotel Per La on South Olive Street (250 €) and the Hotel Figueroa (180 €).
Three addresses, two of them on the same street: the W Hollywood on Hollywood Boulevard (370 €), the Dream Hollywood at 6417 Selma Avenue (350 €) and the HOLLYWOOD VOLUME at 6516 Selma Avenue (200 €) — the second-lowest rate in our Los Angeles selection.
The rest of the city, one or two properties each: the Fairmont Century Plaza on Avenue of the Stars (380 €), the W Los Angeles and the Kimpton Hotel Palomar, both in Westwood (280 € and 350 €), The Shay and The Culver City in Culver City (350 € each), The Langham Huntington in Pasadena (348 €) and the westdrift Manhattan Beach towards the airport (260 €).
Four pairs of addresses in our Los Angeles selection say more about the market here than any ranking could, because in each case the two properties are on the same spot and the rates are not.
Viceroy Santa Monica · Santa MonicaThe clearest is L.A. LIVE Downtown. The Ritz-Carlton Los Angeles and the JW Marriott Los Angeles L.A. LIVE are both listed at 900 West Olympic Boulevard — the same complex beside the arena and the convention centre. Both belong to Marriott Bonvoy. The Ritz-Carlton starts at around 500 €, the JW Marriott at 250 €. Same address, same programme, twice the rate: what you are paying for is the brand and the floors it occupies, not the location.
On Ocean Avenue in Santa Monica the Regent Santa Monica Beach stands at number 1700 (810 €) and the Sandbourne at 1740 (284 €) — a few doors apart on the same side of the same street. In Hollywood, the Dream Hollywood at 6417 Selma Avenue (350 €) and the HOLLYWOOD VOLUME at 6516 (200 €). And on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood, the Andaz at 8401 (300 €) faces The Sun Rose at 8430 (440 €).
The conclusion is consistent across all four: in Los Angeles location costs far less of a premium than the property itself does. Comparing two hotels in the same area on price alone tells you almost nothing — tell our travel advisors what you actually want from the stay and they will tell you which of the pair it is.
This is the most common and most consequential misunderstanding when booking here. Beverly Hills is an independent municipality, as are West Hollywood and Santa Monica, and it is not part of the city of Los Angeles. Several hotels carry the name without standing inside its limits.
By the address on file, four properties really are in Beverly Hills: The Maybourne on North Canon Drive, the Waldorf Astoria at 9850 Wilshire Boulevard, the Viceroy L'Ermitage on Burton Way and the Avalon on West Olympic Boulevard.
Six more carry „Beverly Hills“ or „West Beverly Hills“ in the name and are addressed in Los Angeles: the Sofitel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills (8555 Beverly Boulevard), the SLS Beverly Hills (South La Cienega Boulevard), the Cameo Beverly Hills (Beverwil Drive), the Burton House Beverly Hills (South Beverly Drive), the Kimpton Hotel Palomar Beverly Hills (10740 Wilshire Boulevard, in Westwood) and the W Los Angeles - West Beverly Hills (Hilgard Avenue, also Westwood).
None of that makes them worse: most are ten to fifteen minutes from Rodeo Drive and several cost half as much. But if your plan involves walking out of the hotel in the evening, the difference is real, and we would rather say so before you book. For three properties — The Beverly Hills Hotel, The Peninsula Beverly Hills and The London West Hollywood — no address is on file with us, so we place them on neither list.
If you are looking for the address most associated with Los Angeles itself, our two highest entry rates point the same way: the Hotel Bel-Air on Stone Canyon Road at around 1,270 € per night and The Beverly Hills Hotel at 1,100 €, both part of the Dorchester Collection and neither of them in a points programme. Behind them come The Maybourne Beverly Hills (930 €), the Regent Santa Monica Beach and the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills (810 € each) and the Malibu Beach Inn (750 €).Personal luxury travel adviceOur travel advisors personally accompany your booking – 365 days a year, from the first offer to late check-out. Reach the suitespot VIP service via email or WhatsApp.Phone: +49 30 81452346 · hotel@suitespot.comWhat the guest reviews say is a different matter, and worth separating from the price list: the highest-rated properties in our Los Angeles selection are the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills and Shutters on the Beach, both at 4.7 — and Shutters starts at 438 €. Then come the Conrad Los Angeles at 4.6 (420 €), the Regent Santa Monica Beach at 4.5 and the Oceana at 4.4. Service, in other words, does not track the rate here.
At the other end of the scale, the best value sits Downtown and in Hollywood: the Hotel Figueroa (180 €), the Sofitel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills (190 €), the HOLLYWOOD VOLUME (200 €) and the Hotel Per La, InterContinental and JW Marriott L.A. LIVE at 250 € each.
As a suitespot guest you travel with VIP status: we pass your preferences to the hotel before you arrive — in Los Angeles most often a high floor or an ocean-facing room, which is a category of its own in almost every Santa Monica property. On top of that come breakfast for two, a room upgrade subject to availability, early check-in and late check-out subject to availability and up to 100 USD hotel credit per stay. Restaurant tables, a car with a driver and studio access are what our travel advisors are asked for most in this city — all of them things that are arranged before arrival, not at the front desk.
suitespot rates are genuine direct rates: you keep earning regular points and elite nights in the hotel's loyalty program and retain your status benefits – on top of your suitespot benefits. These programs are represented in Los Angeles:
| Program | Hotels | Examples in Los Angeles |
|---|---|---|
| Marriott Bonvoy | 17 hotels | The Ritz-Carlton Los Angeles, W Los Angeles - West Beverly Hills, westdrift Manhattan Beach … |
| I Prefer | 5 hotels | The Sun Rose West Hollywood, Viceroy L'Ermitage Beverly Hills, Huntley Santa Monica Beach … |
| IHG One Rewards | 5 hotels | InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown, Kimpton La Peer Hotel West Hollywood, Regent Santa Monica Beach … |
| Hilton Honors | 4 hotels | Conrad Los Angeles, Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills, Oceana Santa Monica … |
| World of Hyatt | 4 hotels | Andaz West Hollywood, The Shay Culver City, Hotel Figueroa Los Angeles … |
| ALL (Accor) | 3 hotels | Sofitel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills, Fairmont Century Plaza Los Angeles, Fairmont Miramar Hotel Santa Monica |
| Brilliant by Langham | 1 hotel | The Langham Huntington Pasadena |
| Leaders Club | 1 hotel | Malibu Beach Inn |
Entry rates for our 48 luxury hotels in Los Angeles start at around 180 € per night (Hotel Figueroa, Downtown) and reach about 1,270 € at the Hotel Bel-Air. The median entry rate is around 360 € per night.
Below 260 € you will find, besides the Figueroa, the Sofitel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills (190 €), the HOLLYWOOD VOLUME (200 €), the InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown, the JW Marriott L.A. LIVE and the Hotel Per La (250 € each). With suitespot you always book at direct rates, and the benefits worth more than 500 € come on top.
Our two highest entry rates are also the two addresses most closely associated with the city: the Hotel Bel-Air on Stone Canyon Road (from around 1,270 €) and The Beverly Hills Hotel (1,100 €), both part of the Dorchester Collection. Neither takes part in a points programme, which is itself typical of this end of the market.
Behind them stand The Maybourne Beverly Hills (930 €), The Peninsula Beverly Hills (720 €) and, on the coast, the Regent Santa Monica Beach and the Malibu Beach Inn.
What actually makes the difference on the ground, though, is not the address but the arrangements: a table that is already booked, a car with a driver, a high floor away from the lift. Those are things your suitespot travel advisor settles with the hotel before you arrive, and they come with VIP status on every one of our rates.
It depends entirely on where your days will be spent, because journeys are long: Santa Monica to Downtown is thirty minutes to well over an hour in traffic.
Santa Monica holds nine of our properties and is the choice for a beach-and-boardwalk trip. Beverly Hills and West Hollywood (four each) are the shopping, restaurant and nightlife districts, and both are walkable. Downtown has seven properties, the lowest rates in our selection and the best access to the arenas and convention centre. Hollywood has three addresses and sits roughly between the two.
If this is a first visit and you want to see everything, West Hollywood or Beverly Hills is the most balanced base.
Because they share a complex. The Ritz-Carlton Los Angeles and the JW Marriott Los Angeles L.A. LIVE are both listed at 900 West Olympic Boulevard, in the L.A. LIVE development beside the arena and the convention centre. Both belong to Marriott Bonvoy — and the Ritz-Carlton starts at around 500 €, the JW Marriott at 250 €.
The same thing happens three more times in our selection, always on the same street: the Regent Santa Monica Beach at 1700 Ocean Avenue (810 €) and the Sandbourne at 1740 (284 €); the Dream Hollywood at 6417 Selma Avenue (350 €) and the HOLLYWOOD VOLUME at 6516 (200 €); the Andaz West Hollywood at 8401 Sunset Boulevard (300 €) and The Sun Rose at 8430 (440 €).
The lesson is the same each time: in Los Angeles the location costs far less of a premium than the property does. Comparing two hotels in one area on price alone tells you very little.
Not all of them, and we would rather say so. Beverly Hills is an independent city and not part of Los Angeles.
By the address on file, The Maybourne, the Waldorf Astoria, the Viceroy L'Ermitage and the Avalon are inside the city limits.
Carrying the name but addressed in Los Angeles are the Sofitel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills, the SLS Beverly Hills, the Cameo Beverly Hills, the Burton House Beverly Hills, the Kimpton Hotel Palomar Beverly Hills and the W Los Angeles - West Beverly Hills. Most are ten to fifteen minutes by car from Rodeo Drive and several cost considerably less. For The Beverly Hills Hotel and The Peninsula Beverly Hills no address is on file with us, so we assign them to neither list.
Yes. suitespot rates are full direct rates: you earn the usual points and status nights in the relevant hotel programme. In Los Angeles the dominant programme is Marriott Bonvoy with 16 of the 48 properties, among them The Ritz-Carlton Los Angeles, the JW Marriott L.A. LIVE, The West Hollywood EDITION, the W Hollywood, the SLS Beverly Hills and the Sandbourne Santa Monica.
Then come iPrefer with five (including Shutters on the Beach, Casa Del Mar and the Huntley), IHG Rewards, Hilton Honors and World of Hyatt with four each, ALL with three, and the Leaders Club and Brilliant by Langham with one each.
Nine properties take part in no loyalty programme — among them the Hotel Bel-Air, The Beverly Hills Hotel, The Maybourne and The Peninsula. Your status benefits apply wherever they exist; the suitespot benefits come in addition.
It depends on the kind of suite you mean, because Los Angeles names its categories after itself. The widest choice belongs to the Viceroy L'Ermitage Beverly Hills with eight suite categories, from Classic to Grand Heritage.
For a garden layout rather than a tower floor, the Fairmont Miramar in Santa Monica lists Bungalow and Bi-Level Bungalow categories alongside Palisades and Palisades Grand. For the classic Los Angeles names, The Beverly Hills Hotel has its Crescent, Garden, Rodeo and Williams suites and the Hotel Bel-Air its Canyon, Swan Lake and Premier Canyon suites. For a skyline view, the Conrad Los Angeles stacks a Skyline Penthouse Presidential, a Grand Penthouse and a Conrad Penthouse above Grand Avenue.
Downtown, the JW Marriott L.A. LIVE lists Hospitality, Griffin, JW and Chairman suites, which are built for entertaining rather than for the view. Tell our travel advisors which of these you have in mind — the names are not interchangeable.
On our records, only two of the 48 properties list a room category specifically for families: the Cameo Beverly Hills with its Signature Loft and Studio, and The West Hollywood EDITION with its Loft. We would rather state that plainly than imply a family offering that is not on file.
That does not mean the rest will not work with children. Many properties have generous suites or connecting rooms that are not listed as a category of their own, and several — the Terranea Resort, the westdrift Manhattan Beach and the Fairmont Miramar with its bungalows — are laid out as resorts.
Tell your travel advisor how many of you there are and how old the children are, and you will get the specific category that works in each house before you book.
