InterContinental Sofia · CentreWhich of the luxury hotels in Sofia is the best hotel for you is mostly a question of style. For a classic stay on Parliament Square, with a club lounge and cathedral views, choose InterContinental Sofia. If you want to sit on a rooftop terrace in the evening and unwind in a hammam, book Hyatt Regency Sofia. And design fans pick Sense Hotel Sofia, with its glass facade, indoor pool and Rooftop Bar on the ninth floor.New to Sofia is Hyatt Regency Sofia: it opened in September 2020 as Hyatt’s first hotel in Bulgaria, right on Vasil Levski Square. For you, that means 183 rooms, 22 of them suites, and the Regency Club lounge with breakfast and evening drinks and hors d’oeuvres for suite and club guests.
Hyatt Regency Sofia · CentreInterContinental Sofia is freshly renovated: before it became an InterContinental in March 2018, all rooms, the reception and the public areas were extensively refurbished, and the room design draws on the architecture of the 1960s. The dining has changed too: fine dining now happens at ADOR Restaurant, and the former Floret restaurant has become Floret Lounge Bar.
At Sense Hotel Sofia, JIRU Asian Restaurant now cooks where the former hotel restaurant used to be, and on the ninth floor Sense Gastro Bar also serves the breakfast buffet, with a view over the city’s rooftops.
After a day between the cathedral, museums and the boulevard, warmth is the best plan, and two of the three hotels even have a pool for it.
Sense Hotel Sofia · City CentreFor swimming we recommend Sense Hotel Sofia: Sense Wellness has a 15-meter stainless-steel pool and two round pools with hot water and salt water, plus a sauna, steam bath, gym and ESPA treatments in four rooms. Entry is free for hotel guests.
For a wellness afternoon, book Hyatt Regency Sofia: its 480 m² wellness center has a hydrotherapy pool, hammam, steam room, Finnish sauna, bio sauna, salt room and ice fountain, plus three treatment rooms and a beauty salon. Sofia’s history goes back to antiquity: the remains of Roman Serdika lie beneath the center. The history of the luxury hotels in Sofia begins on Parliament Square: the Grand Hotel Sofia was built there in the 1960s, was taken over by Radisson SAS in 2001 after privatization and later traded as Radisson Blu Grand Hotel. After a full renovation it became InterContinental Sofia in March 2018, Bulgaria’s first InterContinental.
Sense Hotel Sofia opened in 2013 as a design hotel; its glass facade of golden-orange squares was designed by Lazzarini Pickering Architetti. Hyatt Regency Sofia, by contrast, was built from scratch and opened on Vasil Levski Square in September 2020 as the country’s first Hyatt.
