Hand-picked in Vonnas: the 5-star hotel Georges Blanc Parc & Spa. Every suitespot booking comes with free breakfast for 2, a room upgrade subject to availability, hotel credit and VIP service – benefits worth over €500.
Georges Blanc Parc & Spa · ChampagneFor this guide we reviewed the best hotels in Vonnas and chose one: a luxury hotel of 42 rooms in the chef’s village – with three categories of 20 square metres to start and one facing the river. What that means for booking is below. Our choice for Vonnas is the Georges Blanc Parc & Spa on the Place du Marché, in the centre of the village. In our ranking it stands at 4.3 out of 5, and a night starts at 255 euros. The hotel belongs to Relais & Châteaux.
Why we recommend it: Because it is the hotel of a village that belongs to a chef: since 1872 the Blanc family has cooked on the Place du Marché, and the inn has become an estate over several hectares – 42 rooms and suites, a park on the Veyle, a spa with pool and the restaurant that holds two stars in the 2026 Michelin Guide. Anyone sleeping here sleeps in the restaurant – the tables are the easier ones for hotel guests. Our recommended category is called Classic.
This hotel starts three times at 20 square metres – and one category faces the river.
The rooms: 20 square metres in the Classic (twice) and in the Charm, 40 in the Superior with a river view, 40 in the Deluxe with varying outlooks, 50 in the Suite and 80 in the second Suite. Seven categories and a jump in the middle: from 20 to 40 the area doubles.
That means: our recommended Classic is the entry point, and it is the category in which one stays for the restaurant, not for the room. Anyone wanting the Veyle outside the window books the Superior at 40: the only category with the river. The rooms of the Deluxe beside it face different directions.
Then the package: breakfast, upgrade on arrival, welcome gift. Nothing more is needed here: this hotel’s argument stands in the dining room. No minimum stay.
And the calendar: the hotel takes a break every year – according to our sources from the beginning of January to the beginning of February. Anyone asking in January is asking for February.
Our advice: Book the Classic and the table on the same day. With 42 rooms and three categories at 20, the upgrade on arrival is a real chance of the 40 here – and anyone wanting the river tells our travel advisors “Superior”, not “Deluxe”.
The Georges Blanc Parc & Spa stands at 2 Place du Marché in Vonnas, in the centre of the village – four hundred metres from the station, sixteen kilometres from Mâcon, eighteen from Bourg-en-Bresse and a good fifty from Lyon and its airport.
Our recommendation is therefore for anyone building a journey around a restaurant – and for anyone wanting to see Burgundy and the Bresse from a village one knows in ten minutes.
What lies within reach: the Village Georges Blanc itself, with the Ancienne Auberge, the boutique and the wine cellar, at the door; the Veyle with the park and the paths along the bank; and Bourg-en-Bresse with the monastery of Brou, the flamboyant tomb of Margaret of Austria, twenty minutes.
For orientation: Vonnas station lies on the Mâcon–Bourg line; the TGV stops at Mâcon-Loché, a quarter of an hour away, Paris is an hour and a half from there. Lyon is an hour, the Beaujolais half an hour. In Vonnas one walks; for everything else the car stands at the hotel.
The Georges Blanc Parc & Spa offers seven categories, two of them suites.
The rooms: 20 square metres in the Classic – our recommended category, twice in the list – and in the Charm, 40 in the Superior to the river and 40 in the Deluxe with varying direction.
The suites: 50 and 80 square metres.
On the view: this hotel’s motif is the Veyle – the Superior at 40 expressly faces it. The Deluxe faces varying directions.
What applies equally to every category: breakfast for two, the upgrade on arrival subject to availability and a welcome gift.
A night at the luxury hotel in Vonnas starts at 255 euros.
The suitespot benefits apply here from the first night. Included are: breakfast for two, an upgrade on arrival subject to availability and a welcome gift.
When it is loveliest: from May to October, when the park on the Veyle is green and the terrace is laid – and in December, when the village is lit for Advent.
What belongs to Vonnas: the winter break. According to our sources the hotel closes every year from the beginning of January to the beginning of February – the kitchen rests, and so does the village. That is not a warning but the calendar: anyone wanting winter comes before Christmas or after the first weekend of February.
When to ask early: on the weekends from May to October, at Christmas and at Easter – and for the table in the restaurant in any case, because that is the reason for the journey.
How long to stay: one night for the menu and the breakfast – two if Brou and the Mâconnais are added.
And whatever the date: you get the suitespot benefits in the quietest week of the year just as you do in the busiest.
The Bresse is the plain between the Saône and the Jura in which the chicken has a protected origin: white plumage, blue feet, red comb, the colours of France. The farms have half-timbering and Saracen chimneys, the markets sell chickens with a seal, and the region’s chefs – Blanc in Vonnas first among them – have made a cuisine of it that rivals Lyon.
Personal luxury travel adviceOur travel advisors personally accompany your booking – 365 days a year, from the first offer to late check-out. Reach the suitespot VIP service via email or WhatsApp.Phone: +49 30 81452346 · hotel@suitespot.comThree things belong to it. First the monastery of Brou in Bourg-en-Bresse: the church Margaret of Austria had built for her husband in 1506, with the rood screen and the three tombs, the masterpiece of Flamboyant Gothic in France. Second the Mâconnais: the vineyards around Pouilly-Fuissé and the rock of Solutré, half an hour to the west. Third Pérouges: the medieval village on the hill where the galette is baked and the lanes are cobbled, forty minutes to the south.
The package at this hotel is breakfast, upgrade and gift.
What our travel advisors arrange most often: the table in the restaurant, for the reason stated above, the Superior with the river and the transfer from the TGV at Mâcon-Loché – because a quarter of an hour by taxi is simpler than a hire car for one night.
