Below the Zugspitze and on the Obersalzberg: Schloss Elmau lies secluded in the Elmau valley at around 1,000 meters between the Wetterstein and Karwendel ranges, near Garmisch-Partenkirchen; Innsbruck is about 45 minutes away. The Kempinski Berchtesgaden stands alone on the Eckerbichl on the Obersalzberg above Berchtesgaden, around 30 minutes from Salzburg Airport.

Treatments take place only in private spa suites and ritual rooms, each with its own bathroom and relaxation area. Yoga and Reformer Pilates round it off.
Das Achental · GrafingOnsen in the Tegernsee valley: At the Spa & Resort Bachmair Weissach the MIZU ONSEN SPA, including the Family Spa, covers more than 3,000 m². Its heart is the Japanese-inspired onsen with a 42 °C hot pool and cold plunges at 2 and 10 °C. Add an outdoor brine pool at 32 °C, an outdoor sauna, steam and heat rooms, silent rooms and a natural-water pool fed by the mill stream. Massages and beauty treatments complete the offer.
Infinity pool in the Chiemgau: Das Achental has a 2,000 m² spa with a warm infinity pool. The sauna landscape includes an herbal sauna with a copper kettle, a stone sauna, a Finnish stone-pine sauna, brine and steam baths, four Dornbracht experience showers, an ice fountain and relaxation rooms with floating loungers. Massages and facials use certified organic natural products.
Six spas at Elmau: Schloss Elmau spreads wellness across six spas for adults and families. The Badehaus for guests 16 and over has three infinity pools, including a 25-meter rooftop pool, plus saunas, a brine steam bath, cold plunge and 17 treatment rooms. The Oriental Hammam covers 500 m² with three domed rooms, and the adults-only Shantigiri spa has a Japanese onsen at 40 °C. By the Ferchenbach stream lies the Nature Spa with a natural pool and ice bathing; TCM, yoga, Pilates and Taiji complete the program.
Smaller spas with their own character: The 850 m² AlpenSpa at the Arabella Alpenhotel am Spitzingsee offers a brine pool with whirlpool, a Finnish sauna, a mountain-flower sauna and a mountain-farm sauna. At the Kempinski Berchtesgaden you swim in the 29 °C indoor pool (15 x 9 meters) and relax in the tepidarium, the meditation lounge with waterbeds and the infrared cabin; treatments use BABOR products, among others. The Villino Hotel combines Oriental rituals with European bathing culture: rasul, Roman steam bath, brine bath and treatments on a floating bed.
The Chiemgauhof has a small wellness area with a sauna by Matteo Thun and KLAFS, a sanarium, a yoga and relaxation room and a heated 18-meter outdoor pool with lake views. The signature treatment is the NaturPur massage with warm stones, local herbal essences and singing bowls.
Construction on the Obersalzberg
Since October 2026 the Kempinski Berchtesgaden has been carrying out extensive construction work on the outdoor spa area and the courtyard; the round outdoor pool has been closed since October 5, 2026. The indoor pool, saunas, treatments and gym remain open. For couples and those seeking quiet: At Schloss Elmau the Badehaus and the Shantigiri spa are reserved for adults; swimwear is optional in the Badehaus's 18-meter sunset pool, and at the Ananda spa restaurant you have lunch in your bathrobe. At the Arabella Alpenhotel am Spitzingsee the sauna area is for guests 16 and over, and from 12:30 to 3:00 pm the AlpenSpa has a quiet period without children under 12. At the Kempinski Berchtesgaden the Finnish sauna is textile-free.

At Schloss Elmau children learn to swim in the 25-meter pool of the Hideaway Family Spa, and the Kids Club looks after 2- to 5-year-olds. Warm water all year: In the Badehaus at Schloss Elmau the 20-meter saltwater infinity pool is 35 °C year-round. In the park of the Spa & Resort Bachmair Weissach a whirlpool heated year-round to 34 °C looks out on the Wallberg and Ringberg. If you like it cold: at Elmau's Nature Spa ice bathing is possible all year.

The restaurant La Cucina dei Sensi at the Villino Hotel has held one Michelin star since 1998; there Toni Neumann combines Japanese flavors with northern Italian cooking and produce from Lake Constance. For something lighter, eat right in the spa: at THE BISTRO on Lake Tegernsee or at Ananda in Elmau.
Golf, skiing and hiking: For golfers, Das Achental is the first choice, with its own 18-hole championship course by Thomas Himmel and a PGA golf school.
