Sofitel Luxembourg Le Grand Ducal · GrundEvery booking through suitespot comes with a comprehensive package of suitespot benefits:The city's best-known hotels all lie within a few minutes of each other. Le Royal Luxembourg on Boulevard Royal is the classic choice for business in the capital – the only property in our portfolio belonging to the Leaders Club, and the only one in Luxembourg carrying a reisetopia rating, at 4.3. Sofitel contributes two houses: the Sofitel Luxembourg Le Grand Ducal above the Pétrusse valley and the Sofitel Luxembourg Europe in the European quarter on Kirchberg.
By the central station, the Luxembourg Marriott Hotel Alfa offers the widest range of rooms and suites in the city – and its only dedicated family category. If you would rather have a private address than a large hotel, you will find it at the Villa Pétrusse on Avenue Marie-Thérèse: a town palace with a mere handful of suites, named after Luxembourgish landmarks.
Luxembourg is a small market – which makes it all the more useful to know where the few genuine suites are. All five properties in our portfolio carry their own suite categories, and our travel advisors know them in detail.
Sofitel Luxembourg Europe · KirchbergThe widest choice belongs to the Luxembourg Marriott Hotel Alfa by the station, with four categories – Junior, Executive, Family and the eponymous Alfa Suite. Both Sofitel properties offer the Prestige Suite, and Le Royal the Traditional and Royal categories.Personal luxury travel adviceOur travel advisors personally accompany your booking – 365 days a year, from the first offer to late check-out. Reach the suitespot VIP service via email or WhatsApp.Phone: +49 30 81452346 · hotel@suitespot.comThe exception is the Villa Pétrusse: the house consists almost entirely of suites, named after Luxembourgish landmarks and legends – Melusina, Pétrusse and Gëlle Fra. For an anniversary or a special occasion it is the most distinctive address in the city; entry rates start accordingly at around EUR 380 a night, at the top of our Luxembourg portfolio.
Luxembourg City is small but sharply divided: only minutes separate the old town plateau, the Pétrusse valley and Kirchberg – yet the character of a stay differs markedly.
Villa Pétrusse Luxembourg · Ville HauteThe rule of thumb: Ville Haute for sightseeing and restaurants, Kirchberg for meetings at the European institutions, the station quarter for quick arrivals and departures.
If you want a hotel in Luxembourg City within walking distance of the old town, this is where to stay. Le Royal Luxembourg stands on Boulevard Royal, the main artery of the banking district, a few minutes from Place d'Armes, the Grand Ducal Palace and the casemates. Right where the city park meets the Pétrusse valley sits the Villa Pétrusse on Avenue Marie-Thérèse – quieter than the boulevard, and still walkable to the upper town.
On the Kirchberg plateau, home to the EU institutions, the Philharmonie and the museums, stands the Sofitel Luxembourg Europe in the Quartier Européen Nord on Rue du Fort Niedergrünewald. For business at the European institutions this is the shortest possible commute; the tram runs down into the old town.
South of the gorge lies the station quarter. The Sofitel Luxembourg Le Grand Ducal on Rue du Laboratoire sits right on the rim of the Pétrusse valley – the view across the gorge to the old town is this property's defining feature. On Place de la Gare itself, opposite the central station, stands the Luxembourg Marriott Hotel Alfa: the most practical address if you arrive by train or use Luxembourg as a stopover.
For its size, Luxembourg City has an unusually dense restaurant scene – a direct consequence of the international clientele from the banks and the European institutions. The hotels in the upper town and on Kirchberg make the most convenient bases: from the properties on Boulevard Royal and Avenue Marie-Thérèse the restaurants around Place d'Armes and down in the Grund are walkable.
Le Royal Luxembourg · StadtmitteYour suitespot hotel credit of up to USD 100 per stay can be applied directly to the bill at all five properties – for dinner as readily as for the bar or room service.
Luxembourg is first and foremost a business destination, and the properties are set up accordingly. For meetings in the banking district Le Royal on Boulevard Royal is best placed; for the European institutions the Sofitel Luxembourg Europe on Kirchberg; and if your schedule is tight, the Luxembourg Marriott Hotel Alfa directly opposite the central station.
For families the choice is smaller but unambiguous: the Marriott Alfa is the only property in our Luxembourg portfolio with a dedicated Family Suite. Do talk to us in advance when travelling with children – connecting doors and extra beds can be requested individually at the other properties, but are not offered there as a category of their own.
The concierge teams of Luxembourg's hotels arrange tours of the Bock casemates and the UNESCO-listed fortifications, tables in the upper town and timed entries at the Kirchberg museums – and they know the shortcuts in a city where the valley floor and the plateau are often separated by little more than a lift.Personal luxury travel adviceOur travel advisors personally accompany your booking – 365 days a year, from the first offer to late check-out. | Marriott Bonvoy | 1 hotel | Luxembourg Marriott Hotel Alfa |
Entry rates across our 5 Luxembourg luxury hotels currently start at around EUR 170 a night at the Sofitel Luxembourg Europe on Kirchberg and reach about EUR 380 a night at the Villa Pétrusse. The typical entry rate is around EUR 190 a night. Luxembourg is a business market: weekday rates run considerably higher than weekend rates, so flexible dates pay off here. Rates change daily; the current rates including your suitespot benefits are shown in the hotel overview.
The Sofitel Luxembourg Europe sits in the Quartier Européen Nord on Rue du Fort Niedergrünewald – that is, directly on the Kirchberg plateau where the European institutions, the Philharmonie and the museums are located. Nothing in our portfolio is closer. If you also have meetings in the banking district, Le Royal on Boulevard Royal is the better base – Kirchberg is a short tram ride away.
Yes. suitespot rates are genuine direct rates: you earn regular points and elite nights in the respective hotel program, and your existing status benefits remain intact. In Luxembourg City that covers ALL (both Sofitel properties), Marriott Bonvoy (Marriott Hotel Alfa) and the Leaders Club (Le Royal). The Villa Pétrusse is an independent house with no chain program – you receive the suitespot benefits there, but no program points. Importantly, suitespot benefits come on top of your status benefits – they do not replace them.
The Sofitel Luxembourg Le Grand Ducal on Rue du Laboratoire stands on the very rim of the Pétrusse valley, looking across the gorge to the old town – the finest view in our Luxembourg portfolio. Rooms differ noticeably in aspect, so registering your preference in advance through our travel advisors is particularly worthwhile here.
The Luxembourg Marriott Hotel Alfa stands on Place de la Gare, directly opposite the central station – the most practical address for a short stopover or a late arrival. A side benefit of the location: public transport is free throughout Luxembourg, so the upper town and Kirchberg are reachable at no extra cost.
For an anniversary or a special night we recommend the Villa Pétrusse on Avenue Marie-Thérèse: a small town palace made up almost entirely of suites – Melusina, Pétrusse and Gëlle Fra, named after Luxembourgish landmarks and legends. If you prefer something more classical, the Royal Suite at Le Royal is the more formal alternative.
We currently feature 5 luxury hotels in Luxembourg City: the Sofitel Luxembourg Le Grand Ducal, the Sofitel Luxembourg Europe, the Villa Pétrusse, Le Royal Luxembourg and the Luxembourg Marriott Hotel Alfa. It is a deliberately small, curated selection – in a city of this size it covers every relevant area.
