Your guide to the best luxury hotels on Mahé, Seychelles

Mahé is the main island of the Seychelles: every international flight lands here, the capital Victoria is here, and every Seychelles trip begins here. This page lists 7 luxury resorts – and one thing belongs at the top: three of them are actually on Mahé. The other four are on Praslin, North Island and Platte Island. We show them together because they are all reached via Mahé, but we say precisely which property is where.Mango House SeychellesMango House Seychelles · Baie LazareEvery booking through suitespot comes with a comprehensive package of suitespot benefits:
  • Complimentary breakfast for two
  • Room upgrade subject to availability
  • Up to USD 100 hotel credit per stay
  • Early check-in & late check-out subject to availability
  • Regular points & status benefits in the hotel loyalty programs

The three properties on Mahé itself all sit on the south-west coast. The Kempinski Seychelles Resort Baie Lazare is the entry point at around EUR 410 a night (rated 4.1), Mango House Seychelles at Anse Aux Poules Bleues follows at around EUR 477 (rated 4.5), and the Anantara Maia Seychelles Villas on West Coast Road at Anse Louis top the list at around EUR 1,950. That is almost a fivefold spread along a single coastline.

The other four resorts on this page are on other islands: Raffles Seychelles (around EUR 768) and Constance Lemuria (around EUR 1,065) on Praslin, North Island Seychelles on an island of its own, and the Waldorf Astoria Seychelles Platte Island (around EUR 1,193, rated 4.5) some 133 kilometres to the south in the Outer Islands.

The three properties on Mahé: one coastline, three price classes

All three Mahé addresses lie in the south-west of the island, within a few kilometres of each other and between 6.7 and 10.5 kilometres from the international airport as the crow flies. Staying on Mahé therefore means no second transfer: no domestic flight, no ferry, no boat connection that depends on the time of day. That is the practical advantage of this island, and on arrival day it counts for more than it looks on paper.Raffles SeychellesRaffles Seychelles · Anse BoudinThe three differ sharply. The Kempinski Seychelles Resort Baie Lazare (from around EUR 410) is the largest and carries the widest choice with 19 categories – Hill View and Sea View, Deluxe with a lagoon outlook, and the two suites The Plantation and The Picault. It is the address where category and budget can be tuned most finely.Personal luxury travel adviceOur travel advisors personally accompany your booking – 365 days a year, from the first offer to late check-out. It is also the only property in our entire Seychelles selection with a dedicated family category (Bay Family).

The Anantara Maia Seychelles Villas at Anse Louis (from around EUR 1,950) are the exact counterpart: four categories only, all with an ocean view and a private pool. One point we would rather flag in advance: this is the only property in the Seychelles where breakfast is not part of the suitespot package – you receive a USD 100 spa credit instead.

Four of the seven are not on Mahé – exactly where they are

This page groups seven resorts because they are all reached via Mahé. Four of them, however, sit on other islands, and that is not a detail: it means a second transfer, fixed connecting times and a different kind of arrival day. The distances below are straight-line figures from the airport on Mahé, calculated from the resorts’ own coordinates.Anantara Maia Seychelles VillasAnantara Maia Seychelles Villas · Anse LouisIf you are planning an island combination – a few nights on Mahé, then Praslin or one of the small islands – we are happy to arrange it as a single booking.

Praslin – two properties, around 45 kilometres away

Raffles Seychelles sits at Anse Takamaka on Praslin (about 46 km, from around EUR 768) and Constance Lemuria at Anse Kerlan (about 45 km, from around EUR 1,065). Praslin is an inhabited island with its own roads and villages, reached by domestic flight or ferry – the mix of resort and real island that a pure private island cannot offer.

North Island – one island, one resort

North Island Seychelles (about 44 km) has its island to itself and lists just two categories in our data. It is quoted on request and is the only Seychelles address in Marriott Bonvoy – which makes it the archipelago’s single option for anyone wanting to use Bonvoy points or status.

Platte Island – 133 kilometres south, in the Outer Islands

The Waldorf Astoria Seychelles Platte Island is the only property in our selection in the Outer Islands, around 133 km south of Mahé (from around EUR 1,193, rated 4.5). All six categories have their own pool and terrace and are named after what swims past them – Blacktip, Eagle Ray, Hawksbill and Kingfish. This island needs the most travel time of any on this page; talk the transfer through with us early.

Eating on Mahé: what is included and what is not

On Mahé the catering question works differently than on a resort island. The island has villages, roads and restaurants, and with a hire car you are not tied to the hotel dining room. That is one of the real arguments for Mahé over Praslin, Félicité or Platte.Waldorf Astoria Seychelles Platte IslandWaldorf Astoria Seychelles Platte Island · Insel PlatteNone of the seven properties on this page carries an all-inclusive rate – nor does any other Seychelles resort we feature. The prices you see with us are room rates. Six of the seven include breakfast for two; the exception is the Anantara Maia Seychelles Villas with its spa credit. Most properties add a hotel credit of up to USD 100 per stay. If you want half board, we will obtain the supplement from the resort before you book – a calculation that matters more on Praslin and the small islands than it does on Mahé.

What a luxury hotel on Mahé costs – and why longer stays pay here

For the three properties on Mahé the range runs from around EUR 410 a night (Kempinski Baie Lazare) through around EUR 477 (Mango House) to around EUR 1,950 (Anantara Maia). Counting the four properties on the other islands, the typical entry rate on this page is around EUR 1,065.

For context beyond the destination: in the Maldives our portfolio starts at around EUR 355 and typically sits around EUR 828. The Seychelles is therefore dearer on average even though its top end is lower – there simply is no inexpensive segment. Anyone travelling to the Seychelles on a budget almost inevitably ends up at the two Mahé properties in Baie Lazare.

In exchange, several properties reward longer stays substantially: Mango House Seychelles currently gives 33 % off from three nights, the Waldorf Astoria Platte Island 25 % from four nights, and Raffles Seychelles a free fourth night. At this price level such a tier moves the final bill more than any change of category. Offers and dates change; the rates valid today, including your suitespot benefits, are shown with each property.

All seven properties on this page belong to a loyalty program. On Mahé itself that means Hilton Honors (Mango House Seychelles) and GHA Discovery (Anantara Maia and Kempinski Baie Lazare); on the other islands ALL (Raffles Seychelles), the Leaders Club (Constance Lemuria), Hilton Honors (Waldorf Astoria Platte Island) and Marriott Bonvoy (North Island).Personal luxury travel adviceOur travel advisors personally accompany your booking – 365 days a year, from the first offer to late check-out. On Mahé that mostly means the position of your room along the coast and your arrival time – and, if you are adding one of the other islands, the transfer and its connections. On ratings from our own stays: Mango House Seychelles stands at 4.5, the Kempinski Seychelles Resort Baie Lazare at 4.1 and the Waldorf Astoria Platte Island also at 4.5. For Raffles Seychelles, Constance Lemuria, Anantara Maia and North Island we hold no rating of our own.

Frequently asked questions about luxury hotels in Mahe

How much does a luxury hotel on Mahé cost?

For the three properties on Mahé itself it starts at around EUR 410 a night at the Kempinski Seychelles Resort Baie Lazare, followed by Mango House Seychelles at around EUR 477; the Anantara Maia Seychelles Villas sit at around EUR 1,950. Including the four properties on the other islands, the typical entry rate on this page is around EUR 1,065. For comparison, our Maldives portfolio starts at around EUR 355. Rates change daily; the current ones including your suitespot benefits are shown in the hotel overview.

Do I earn points and keep my status on suitespot bookings?

Yes. suitespot rates are genuine direct rates: you earn regular points and elite nights and keep your status benefits. All seven properties on this page belong to a program – on Mahé Hilton Honors (Mango House) and GHA Discovery (Anantara Maia, Kempinski Baie Lazare); on the other islands ALL (Raffles), the Leaders Club (Constance Lemuria), Hilton Honors (Waldorf Astoria Platte Island) and Marriott Bonvoy (North Island). suitespot benefits come on top of your status benefits.

Which hotels on this page are actually on Mahé?

Three: the Kempinski Seychelles Resort Baie Lazare, Mango House Seychelles at Anse Aux Poules Bleues and the Anantara Maia Seychelles Villas at Anse Louis – all three on the south-west coast, between 6.7 and 10.5 kilometres from the airport as the crow flies. The other four are elsewhere: Raffles Seychelles and Constance Lemuria on Praslin, North Island Seychelles on North Island, and the Waldorf Astoria on Platte Island, some 133 kilometres to the south. We show them together because they are reached via Mahé – but the island decides your transfer.

Mahé or Praslin: which island should I choose?

Mahé if you want to arrive without a second transfer, take a hire car, see several beaches and visit Victoria – and if you are price-conscious, because the archipelago’s two least expensive properties are here. Praslin if you want an inhabited island with its own villages that is quieter than Mahé; it is reached by domestic flight or ferry. Many guests combine the two – Mahé first, then Praslin – and we are happy to plan that as one booking.

Are there all-inclusive resorts on Mahé?

No. None of the seven properties on this page – nor any other Seychelles resort we feature – carries an all-inclusive rate in the rates we hold. The prices you see are room rates. Six of the seven include breakfast for two; the exception is the Anantara Maia Seychelles Villas, where a USD 100 spa credit is recorded instead. On Mahé this matters less than on the small islands, because the island has its own restaurants and a hire car leaves you free.

What suites and categories are available on Mahé?

Mango House Seychelles is the most finely sorted with 31 categories – Bay, Beach, Cliff and Deluxe, several with a plunge pool, private pool and terrace, plus the Cliff Panorama and, uniquely in the Seychelles, a family category (Bay Family). The Kempinski Baie Lazare lists 19 categories from Hill View and Sea View through Deluxe with a lagoon outlook to the suites The Plantation and The Picault. The Anantara Maia Seychelles Villas have only four categories – all with an ocean view and a private pool. Which of them is free on your dates is something we check with the property before you book.

Which property on Mahé suits families?

Our room data records a dedicated family category at one property in the whole of the Seychelles: Mango House Seychelles, with its Bay Family suite (from around EUR 477 a night, rated 4.5). The others sort by position and outlook rather than by occupancy. That does not mean children are impossible elsewhere – it means we have to confirm occupancy and villa size with the property. Tell us the number and ages and we will clear it before you book.

How long should I stay on Mahé?

Mahé alone works for shorter stays, because you arrive without a second transfer. As soon as you add a second island, plan seven nights or more. There is also a commercial argument: Mango House currently gives 33 % off from three nights, the Waldorf Astoria Platte Island 25 % from four nights, and Raffles Seychelles a free fourth night. At this price level such a tier shifts the final bill more than the choice of category does.
