Park Hyatt: our hand-picked 5-star hotel in Busan. Anyone booking through suitespot also receives breakfast for two, a room upgrade subject to availability, hotel credit and VIP service – a package of more than €500.
Park Hyatt Busan · Haeundae-guFor this guide we reviewed the best hotels in Busan and chose one: a luxury hotel in a glass tower on the marina – with a recommended room that looks straight out to the sea. What that means for booking is below. Our choice for Busan is the Park Hyatt Busan in Marine City, Haeundae-gu, a kilometre and a half from the Gwangan Bridge. In our ranking it stands at 4.8 out of 5, and a night starts at 250 euros. The hotel belongs to Hyatt and to their World of Hyatt programme.
Why we recommend it: Because it is the hotel that shows Busan from above and from the water at once: a curved glass tower of 33 floors on the marina, 269 rooms and suites, the Gwangan Bridge outside the window. Dinner is at the top: in the Dining Room on the 32nd floor with steak and seafood, in the Living Room on the 31st with Italian cooking. Add the Lumi Spa, a 20-metre pool behind glass and a rooftop pool – two pools, both looking over the bay. Haeundae beach and Centum City with the film festival lie under two kilometres away. Our recommended category is called King Ocean View.
Four rooms at 41 square metres to the sea – and our recommendation is one of them.
In detail: 41 square metres in four rooms to the sea, simply called “Room”, 49 in the Family Deluxe; then 67 in the Park Executive Marina Suite and the Marina Ocean Corner Suite, 77 in three family suites – two of them to the sea –, 79 in two more, 155 in the Diplomat Suite and in the Diamond Bridge Room, which is as large as the Diplomat Suite and still counts as a room.
What that means: even this hotel’s entry level has 41 square metres – more generous than most luxury hotels. And all four rooms of that size look out to the sea. Our recommendation King Ocean View is one of them. Anyone booking the recommendation gets 41 square metres to the sea, whichever of the four rooms the hotel assigns.
Then the suites: the Premium Family Suite and the Family Suite at 77 square metres look out to the sea. The Marina Ocean Corner Suite at 67 carries the sea in its name – anyone wanting it asks our travel advisors about the corner.
The package includes breakfast, 100 US dollars credit, upgrade, points and status with World of Hyatt, early check-in and late check-out and welcome gift. The upgrade has a particularity here: it applies at booking, not at the desk, and leads from room to room, not into a suite.
Our advice: Book the recommendation and take the upgrade as a floor. With four sea-facing rooms of equal size, height is the difference – and in a tower of 33 floors, the question of the storey is the one to ask before arrival.
The Park Hyatt Busan stands at 51 Marine City 1-ro, Haeundae-gu – 1.4 kilometres from the Gwangan Bridge, 1.7 from Haeundae beach, 1.8 from Centum City, two from Gwangalli beach, ten from Busan station and 19 from Gimhae airport.
Our recommendation is therefore for anyone wanting Busan from the water rather than from the old town – and for those coming for the film festival who are back in the tower in ten minutes in the evening.
What lies within reach: the Haeundae marina with the yachts, at the door; Haeundae beach with the promenade and Dongbaek Park, a kilometre and a half; Centum City with the film festival’s cinema centre and the Shinsegae department store, the largest in the world, two kilometres.
For orientation: Gimhae airport is three quarters of an hour away, Busan station with the KTX to Seoul half an hour. The temple of Haedong Yonggungsa on the rocks by the sea is half an hour, the Jagalchi fish market forty minutes by metro. In Haeundae one walks on the beach; into the city one drives.
The Park Hyatt Busan offers 15 categories, eight suites among them.
The rooms: 41 square metres in four rooms to the sea – one of them is our recommended category King Ocean View –, 49 in the Family Deluxe, 155 in the Diamond Bridge Room.
The suites: 67 in the Park Executive Marina Suite and the Marina Ocean Corner Suite, 77 in the Executive Family Suite, the Premium Family Suite and the Family Suite – the last two to the sea –, 79 in the Park Family Suite and a second Family Suite, 155 in the Diplomat Suite.
On the view: this hotel’s motif is the sea with the Gwangan Bridge, which a glass tower on the marina shows on every side – six categories face it as Ocean View: the four rooms at 41 and two suites at 77 square metres.
What applies equally to every category: breakfast for two, 100 US dollars credit per stay, the upgrade at booking subject to availability – from room to room, not into a suite –, points and status benefits with World of Hyatt, early check-in and late check-out subject to availability and a welcome gift.
A night at the luxury hotel in Busan starts at 250 euros.

When it is loveliest: from September to November, when the air is clear and the bridge lights up over the bay every evening – and in April, when the cherries blossom on Dalmaji Hill.
What belongs to Busan: summer. In July and August Haeundae is the fullest beach in Korea, and the rainy season is part of it. That is not a warning but the calendar: anyone coming then has the pool behind glass and the bridge in the rain.
When to ask early: for the film festival in early October, for the fireworks festival at the Gwangalli bridge in November and for Korean New Year.
How long to stay: three nights for beach, temple, fish market and an evening on the 32nd floor.
And whatever the date: you get the suitespot benefits in the quietest week of the year just as you do in the busiest.
The south-east of Korea is the coast where the country faces the sea: Busan as the second-largest city and largest port, Gyeongju as the capital of old Silla an hour north – and in between temples on rocks, fish markets and beaches all of Korea knows in summer.
Personal luxury travel adviceOur travel advisors personally accompany your booking – 365 days a year, from the first offer to late check-out. Reach the suitespot VIP service via email or WhatsApp.Phone: +49 30 81452346 · hotel@suitespot.comThree things belong to it. First the temple of Haedong Yonggungsa: the complex of 1376 on the cliffs by the sea, half an hour. Second the Jagalchi fish market: Korea’s largest, with the restaurants upstairs where the catch from below is eaten, forty minutes. Third Gyeongju: the royal tombs and the Bulguksa temple, a World Heritage site, an hour by train.
The package at this hotel is breakfast, credit, upgrade, points, check-in and check-out and gift.
What our travel advisors arrange most often: the floor of the sea-facing room, for the reason stated above, the table at the Dining Room on the 32nd floor and the tickets for the film festival – because in October Busan is the city where one stands outside the cinema without a ticket.
The most widely represented is World of Hyatt. Booking through suitespot costs you neither points nor an elite night: the rate settles as a direct rate and your status is still recognised. Here is what is available in Busan:
At no extra cost: you pay the same rate as booking direct with the hotel – the suitespot benefits come on top, free of charge.
