Two things are worth knowing before you enquire – one about the calendar, one about the rooms.
First the building work. For 2026 Marriott states an enhancement programme that began on 5 April and runs into early December, in phases: the JW rooms from April to December, the South Pool from June to September, the restaurant Ginja from July to September. On the Marriott page the South Pool currently shows as temporarily unavailable. The hotel is open, and two further pools are running. Second the rooms, and the choice is wide: this resort offers 40 categories. Three of them are suites, and all three face the ocean.

Where to stay in Mai Khao: on the eleven-kilometre beach in northern Phuket
The JW Marriott Phuket Resort lies directly on Mai Khao Beach – under a kilometre to the water, four to Sirinat National Park, six to Phuket airport, 30 to Patong and 34 to Phuket Town.
Our recommendation is therefore for anyone who wants Phuket without the bustle of Patong – and for those who would like to be in the room twenty minutes after a long-haul flight.
What lies within reach: Sirinat National Park, four kilometres, with casuarina forest and mangroves; the Mai Khao Marine Turtle Foundation on the resort’s own beach, which looks after the nests; and Phuket Town, 34 kilometres, with the Sino-Portuguese shophouse rows of Thalang Road.
On arrival: Phuket airport lies six kilometres away, about fifteen minutes – six kilometres of transfer after a long-haul flight.
