At the Banyan Tree Phuket, Saffron reopened in March 2026 after a redesign: the Thai restaurant overlooking the lagoon now seats 92 and has two private dining rooms. Also new is Saisons, a European-style lounge serving cheese, charcuterie and wine. Back in 2015, 44 Deluxe Villas were converted into 34 Banyan Pool Villas and ten Banyan Lagoon Pool Villas, and since then every villa at the resort has had its own pool.
Banyan Tree Phuket · Bang Tao BeachAt the Amanpuri, the Holistic Wellness Centre offers a mobility and recovery programme developed by Novak Djokovic. The Nura beach restaurant on Pansea Beach is closed for the season and reopens in December 2026; The Beach Terrace, with Thai dishes, wood-fired pizza and grill, also opens seasonally on the sand.
The Twinpalms Phuket goes by a new name: the resort near Surin Beach now presents itself as Twinpalms Surin Beach. Guests ride for free to Catch Beach Club and to The Lazy Coconut on Bang Tao Beach, two venues from the same group.
The Surin Phuket goes back furthest: its story starts in 1982, when it opened under the name The Pansea as one of Phuket's first luxury hotels, back when the power ran for just a few hours each day. Aman founder Adrian Zecha had only wanted to build a holiday home on the former coconut plantation; together with Anil Thadani and two partners it became the Amanpuri, the very first Aman. Ed Tuttle's pavilions echo the temples of the old royal city of Ayutthaya.
In 1994 the founding couple Claire Chiang and Ho Kwon Ping opened the Banyan Tree Phuket on Bang Tao Bay, the first resort of their brand, after replanting the land with native species. Banyan Tree Spa and the Saffron restaurant started here too – Saffron has existed since 1995 and is now a concept found worldwide.
