Your guide to the best hotels in Atlanta

One quirk of Atlanta trips people up more than anything else, and it is right there in the addresses: eleven of our nineteen properties stand on a street called Peachtree – five on Peachtree Road in Buckhead, five on Peachtree Street or West Peachtree Street downtown. They are several kilometres apart. We currently list 19 hand-picked luxury hotels in Atlanta, from The St. Regis in Buckhead to the Westin Peachtree Plaza downtown. Entry rates run from around 150 € to 710 € per night, with a median of about 240 €.Waldorf Astoria Atlanta BuckheadWaldorf Astoria Atlanta Buckhead · BuckheadWith every booking through suitespot you receive a comprehensive package of suitespot benefits:
  • Complimentary breakfast for two
  • Room upgrade subject to availability
  • Up to 100 USD hotel credit per stay
  • Early check-in and late check-out subject to availability
  • Standard points and status benefits in the hotel programmes

Buckhead holds eight of the nineteen and the top of the market: The St. Regis Atlanta on West Paces Ferry Road (from around 710 €), the Waldorf Astoria Atlanta Buckhead (309 €), The Whitley (310 €), the Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead (250 €), the JW Marriott Atlanta Buckhead (230 €), the InterContinental Buckhead (187 €) with its seven suite categories, the Hyatt Centric Buckhead (180 €) and the Hotel Colee.

Downtown follows with The Ritz-Carlton Atlanta on Peachtree Street (320 €), the W Atlanta Downtown (310 €), the Signia by Hilton at the convention centre (210 €), the Westin Peachtree Plaza (150 €, the lowest entry rate here) and Twelve Downtown.

Midtown and the surrounding districts add the FORTH Hotel in the Old Fourth Ward (350 €), the Epicurean (300 €), the Kimpton Shane (236 €), the Hotel Granada Midtown (215 €), Bellyard in West Midtown (210 €) and Twelve Midtown at Atlantic Station.

Eleven hotels on a street called Peachtree – and why that matters

This is the single most useful thing to know before booking Atlanta, and it is entirely visible in the addresses. Eleven of our nineteen properties are on a Peachtree street – and they are not in the same part of the city.InterContinental Buckhead AtlantaInterContinental Buckhead Atlanta · Buckhead VillagePeachtree Road in Buckhead carries five of them within a few blocks: the Grand Hyatt Atlanta at number 3300, the InterContinental Buckhead at 3315, the Waldorf Astoria Atlanta Buckhead at 3376, the Hotel Colee at 3377 and The Whitley at 3434. Their entry rates run from 187 € to 315 €, so five properties on one street cover most of the middle of this market.Personal luxury travel adviceOur travel advisors personally accompany your booking – 365 days a year, from the first offer to late check-out. Reach the suitespot VIP service via email or WhatsApp.Phone: +49 30 81452346 · hotel@suitespot.comAsk via WhatsAppWrite an emailPeachtree Street and West Peachtree Street downtown and in Midtown carry six more: The Ritz-Carlton Atlanta at 181 Peachtree Street (320 €), the Westin Peachtree Plaza at 210 (150 €), Twelve Downtown at 400 West Peachtree, the Epicurean at 1117 West Peachtree (300 €), the Hotel Granada Midtown at 1302 West Peachtree (215 €) and the Kimpton Shane at 1340 West Peachtree (230 €).

The practical consequence: a Peachtree address tells you nothing about where you will be. Buckhead and downtown are a substantial drive apart, and the numbering is the only reliable clue – roughly, four-digit numbers are Buckhead and three- or four-digit „West Peachtree“ addresses are Midtown. If in doubt, ask us rather than the map.

Our travel advisors' insider tip

Decide between Buckhead and Downtown before you look at a single rate – it is the choice that shapes the trip. Buckhead is the shopping and restaurant district and holds eight of our nineteen properties, including the top of the market. Downtown is the convention, stadium and aquarium side, and holds the lowest entry rate in our selection. They are not walkable from one another.

Second: the event calendar moves the downtown rates far more than the season does. Atlanta is a major convention city, and the downtown properties fill and price together when the centre is busy. Buckhead is the release valve on those weeks – ask us to check both districts for your dates rather than one.

Third, the programmes: Marriott Bonvoy is exceptionally strong here with twelve of the nineteen properties, and Hilton Honors, IHG Rewards and World of Hyatt hold two each, iPrefer one. Every property in our Atlanta selection belongs to a loyalty programme, so whichever you collect, there is an option here.

Luxury hotels in Atlanta by district: where to stay?

Atlanta divides cleanly into a handful of districts that are a drive rather than a walk apart, so this is the decision worth making first.Hyatt Centric Atlanta BuckheadHyatt Centric Atlanta Buckhead · LenoxThese four cover our selection.

Buckhead – eight properties and the top of the market

The St. Regis Atlanta on West Paces Ferry Road (from around 710 €) is the highest entry rate in the city by a wide margin, with Metropolitan, Regis, Celebrate and Manor suites. Then the Waldorf Astoria Atlanta Buckhead (309 €), The Whitley (310 €), the Grand Hyatt (250 €), the JW Marriott Buckhead (230 €), the InterContinental Buckhead (187 €), the Hyatt Centric Buckhead (180 €) and the Hotel Colee.

Downtown – the convention side

The Ritz-Carlton Atlanta on Peachtree Street (320 €), the W Atlanta Downtown (310 €), the Signia by Hilton beside the convention centre (210 €), the Westin Peachtree Plaza (150 €) and Twelve Downtown. This is where the lowest rates in our selection are – and where they move most when the city is busy.

Midtown and the Old Fourth Ward

The FORTH Hotel on Rankin Street in the Old Fourth Ward (350 €), the Epicurean (300 €), the Kimpton Shane (236 €) and the Hotel Granada Midtown (215 €) – between the two poles of the city and the most walkable part of it in the evening.

West Midtown and Atlantic Station

Bellyard on Interlock Avenue in West Midtown (210 €) and Twelve Midtown at Atlantic Station – the quieter, more residential side, and a drive from both the Buckhead restaurants and the downtown venues.

Luxury hotel suites in Atlanta: which properties actually have them

Suites are the second-largest thing people ask about in Atlanta and the part of the market that is hardest to read from a listing page, because the depth does not follow the rate.Grand Hyatt Atlanta in BuckheadGrand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead · BuckheadThe widest choice is at the InterContinental Buckhead, which lists seven categories – Executive, Grand, Classic, Ambassador, Royal Ambassador, Royal and Presidential – at an entry rate of just 187 €. That is the lowest rate of any Buckhead property in our selection with a suite list that long.

At the top of the market, The St. Regis Atlanta lists Metropolitan, Regis, Celebrate and Manor suites (710 €), and The Whitley Executive, Buckhead, Whitley and Presidential (310 €). Downtown, the Signia by Hilton lists a Starlite Peach, a Skyline, a Club Signia and a Presidential suite (210 €), and The Ritz-Carlton Atlanta four categories (320 €). In Midtown, the Hotel Granada names its four after the neighbourhood: Oasis Studio, Piedmont, Mosaic and Futrelle (230 €).

The pattern is worth acting on: in Atlanta a suite in the 200 to 250 € band is a realistic booking rather than an exception, and it will usually beat a standard room at a better-known address on space. Tell our travel advisors which category you have in mind before you book.

What a night in Atlanta costs

Entry rates in our Atlanta selection start at 150 € at the Westin Peachtree Plaza downtown and reach 710 € at The St. Regis Atlanta in Buckhead. The median of the sixteen priced properties is about 240 €. Three of the nineteen have no rate on file with us.

What that spread hides is how tightly packed the middle is. Ten of the sixteen priced properties start between 200 € and 330 € – the Hyatt Centric and the InterContinental in Buckhead at 200 and 180 €, Bellyard and the Signia at 210 €, the JW Marriott, the Kimpton Shane and the Hotel Granada at 230 €, the Grand Hyatt at 250 €, the Epicurean at 300 €, and The Whitley, the W Downtown and The Ritz-Carlton at 310 to 320 €. Between those, the rate is not what separates the stays; the district is.

Above that band sit only the FORTH Hotel (350 €), the Waldorf Astoria Buckhead (309 €) and The St. Regis (710 €) – and the St. Regis is close to double the next one. Below it, only the Westin Peachtree Plaza. Atlanta is, in other words, a city with one clear top, one clear entry point and a very deep middle.

Booking, service and exclusive benefits in Atlanta

What our travel advisors are asked for most in Atlanta is the district decision and the timing that follows from it. This is a convention and events city: when the centre is busy, the downtown properties fill and price together, and Buckhead becomes the sensible alternative rather than the more expensive one. Ask us to check both for your dates rather than one.Personal luxury travel adviceOur travel advisors personally accompany your booking – 365 days a year, from the first offer to late check-out. Reach the suitespot VIP service via email or WhatsApp.Phone: +49 30 81452346 · hotel@suitespot.comAsk via WhatsAppWrite an emailBeyond that: restaurant tables in Buckhead and the Old Fourth Ward, transfers – the airport sits south of the city and the drive to Buckhead is a real one – and, more often here than elsewhere, confirmation of which Peachtree address a property is actually on.

As a suitespot guest you travel with VIP status at all nineteen properties: we pass your preferences to the hotel before you arrive, in Atlanta most often a high floor with a skyline aspect, which several properties list as a category of its own. On top of that come breakfast for two, a room upgrade subject to availability, early check-in and late check-out subject to availability and up to 100 USD hotel credit per stay. And because every one of our Atlanta properties belongs to a loyalty programme – twelve of them to Marriott Bonvoy – you earn your usual points and status nights wherever you stay here.

Frequently asked questions about luxury hotels in Atlanta

How much does a luxury hotel in Atlanta cost?

Entry rates for our 19 Atlanta properties start at around 150 € per night at the Westin Peachtree Plaza downtown and reach about 710 € at The St. Regis Atlanta in Buckhead. The median is roughly 240 €; three properties have no rate on file with us.

The middle is unusually deep: ten of the sixteen priced properties start between 200 € and 330 €, which means the rate rarely separates them – the district does.

With suitespot you always book at direct rates, and the benefits worth more than 500 € come on top.

Which are the best hotels in Atlanta?

It depends on which side of the city you need, because Buckhead and Downtown are a drive apart.

In Buckhead, the top of our selection is The St. Regis Atlanta on West Paces Ferry Road (from around 710 €), followed by the Waldorf Astoria Atlanta Buckhead (309 €) and The Whitley (310 €). Downtown, it is The Ritz-Carlton Atlanta (320 €) and the W Atlanta Downtown (310 €). In Midtown and the Old Fourth Ward, the FORTH Hotel (350 €) and the Epicurean (300 €).

One property to know for value: the InterContinental Buckhead at 187 € lists seven suite categories – more than any other address in our Atlanta selection, at half the rate of several of them.

Why are so many Atlanta hotels on Peachtree?

Because the city has several streets with that name, and ten of our nineteen properties are on one of them – which is the most common orientation mistake here.

Peachtree Road in Buckhead carries five: the Grand Hyatt (3300), the InterContinental Buckhead (3315), the Waldorf Astoria (3376), the Hotel Colee (3377) and The Whitley (3434). Peachtree Street and West Peachtree Street downtown and in Midtown carry five more, among them The Ritz-Carlton (181), the Westin Peachtree Plaza (210), the Epicurean (1117 West) and the Kimpton Shane (1340 West).

These are several kilometres apart. A Peachtree address on its own tells you nothing about where you will be – check the district, or ask us.

Which Atlanta hotels have the best suites?

The widest choice is the InterContinental Buckhead with seven categories – Executive, Grand, Classic, Ambassador, Royal Ambassador, Royal and Presidential – at an entry rate of only 210 €.

At the top of the market, The St. Regis Atlanta lists Metropolitan, Regis, Celebrate and Manor suites (710 €) and The Whitley lists four including a Buckhead and a Whitley suite (310 €). Downtown, the Signia by Hilton has a Starlite Peach, a Skyline and a Club Signia suite (210 €).

The useful conclusion: in Atlanta a suite in the 200 to 250 € band is a realistic booking rather than an exception, and it usually beats a standard room at a better-known address on space.

Should I stay in Buckhead or Downtown Atlanta?

This is the decision worth making before you compare a single rate, because the two are a drive apart rather than a walk.

Buckhead holds eight of our nineteen properties and the top of the market. It is the shopping and restaurant district, and it is where rates stay steadier when the city centre is busy.

Downtown holds five, including the lowest entry rate in our selection – the Westin Peachtree Plaza at 150 € – and it is the side for the convention centre, the stadiums and the aquarium. It is also where rates move most on event weeks.

Midtown and the Old Fourth Ward sit between the two and are the most walkable in the evening. Ask us to check all three for your dates: the difference between them can be substantial on the same night.

Do I earn points and can I use my status with suitespot?

Yes, and in Atlanta without exception. suitespot rates are full direct rates: you earn the usual points and status nights in the relevant hotel programme.

Marriott Bonvoy is exceptionally strong here, covering twelve of the nineteen properties – among them The St. Regis, The Ritz-Carlton, the JW Marriott Buckhead, The Whitley, the W Downtown, the Epicurean and the Westin Peachtree Plaza.

Hilton Honors covers two (the Waldorf Astoria and the Signia), IHG Rewards two (the InterContinental Buckhead and the Kimpton Shane), World of Hyatt two and iPrefer one. Every property in our Atlanta selection belongs to a programme. Your status benefits apply as usual; the suitespot benefits come in addition.

Which Atlanta hotel offers the best value?

By entry rate, the Westin Peachtree Plaza downtown at around 150 € per night – the lowest in our Atlanta selection and part of Marriott Bonvoy.

The better recommendation, though, is the InterContinental Buckhead at 187 €: it lists seven suite categories, more than any other property here, at a rate below most of its Buckhead neighbours. If space matters, that combination is hard to beat in this city.

Also in the 200 to 230 € band: the Hyatt Centric Buckhead (180 €), Bellyard in West Midtown (210 €), the Signia by Hilton (210 €), the JW Marriott Buckhead, the Kimpton Shane and the Hotel Granada (230 € each).

When is the best time to visit Atlanta?

Spring and autumn are the comfortable seasons – warm without the summer humidity, and the best months to be outside in the city.

Summer is hot and humid, which matters here because Atlanta is not a walking city between districts. Winter is mild and the quietest time of year in our selection.

More important than the season, though, is the convention and events calendar. The downtown properties fill and price together when the centre is busy, and on those weeks Buckhead is usually the better value rather than the more expensive option. Ask your travel advisor to check both districts for your dates before you fix them.
