Its address is the Rue de la République in Champillon, the neighbouring village. The hotel stands not in the village but on the slope between the villages, above Épernay, with the vines in front.
That is not an error to be corrected but the location. Hautvillers – the abbey, Dom Pérignon's grave, the lanes with their wrought-iron guild signs – lies three kilometres further along the same slope. Anyone booking here books the vineyard, not the postal address.
From which follows how to build the days: the hotel is the viewpoint, Hautvillers is the walk, Épernay is the drive. From the terrace you see the valley; to the village with the abbey you walk through the vines; to the great cellars on the Avenue de Champagne you drive ten minutes down.
