The story of the Post Lech Arlberg begins in 1937, when ski instructor Erich Moosbrugger and his wife Irma bought the small inn in the village. From 1960, Queen Juliana of the Netherlands spent her winters here, and the inn grew into a 5-star hotel in Lech; it has been a member of Relais & Châteaux since 1976. The Bemelmans Bar recalls the American writer Ludwig Bemelmans, a regular guest until the late 1950s.
The Kristiania Lech Am Arlberg was built by Othmar Schneider as a private chalet for entertaining friends. He won Austria’s first Olympic gold medal in alpine skiing in Oslo in 1952, and the house bears the city’s old name.
