When a place has one luxury hotel, the question shifts: you are no longer choosing the hotel, you are choosing the category. And in Freiburg that is worth a closer look, because the ladder here is built unusually.

In practice that means two things. Where to stay in Freiburg: in the old town

For orientation: Freiburg sits in the south-western corner of Germany, closer to Basel and Colmar than to Stuttgart. The main station is on the edge of the old town, and you walk from the train to the door.
