The Nile Ritz-Carlton Cairo · Bab al-LouqThe luxury hotels in Cairo lie far apart, and the best hotel for you is the one that fits your routes. If you want the pharaohs on your doorstep, book The Nile Ritz-Carlton Cairo on Tahrir Square, right next to the Egyptian Museum. From the Sky Pool on the 25th floor of the Fairmont Nile City Cairo you look far across the city and, on a clear day, all the way to the Pyramids. At the Sofitel Cairo Downtown Nile you can take breakfast on your own balcony: all 615 rooms in the Boulaq high-rise have a balcony with a view of the Nile. The former Conrad Cairo has been run as a Sofitel since January 1, 2025, the fourth in Egypt. In the evening you can choose between four restaurants, from the pan-Asian Kamala to the Italian chophouse Oak, and at the Stage One wine bar you can look out over the river with a glass in hand.
Sofitel Cairo Downtown Nile · Rooms & suitesJust a few minutes from the airport, the Waldorf Astoria Cairo Heliopolis welcomes you beneath a glass atrium shaped like the Eye of Ra. When the former Fairmont Towers Heliopolis was rebuilt, all of its roughly 250 rooms and suites were redesigned; since opening on August 22, 2023, it has been the first Waldorf Astoria in Egypt and Africa. In the new spa you can relax on warm sand beds (psammotherapy) or book a hammam scrub, and on Fridays Brasserie Ayda serves brunch from 1 to 5 pm.
The St. Regis Cairo · Rooms & suitesA butler for every room comes with both St. Regis hotels, two luxury hotels in Cairo that opened in 2021. At The St. Regis Cairo, a 39-story tower by Michael Graves at the northern end of the Corniche, you unwind in the Iridium Spa, over 1,000 m² with an ice room and a vitality pool, and the St. Regis Bar mixes its Bloody Mary with hibiscus. The St. Regis New Capital Cairo in the New Administrative Capital tempts with a man-made beach with a wave machine and 14 villas; the hotel originally opened in 2017 as the Al Masa Hotel.
Only the name is new at the Kempinski Palace Cairo in New Cairo, known as the Royal Maxim Palace Kempinski until it was renamed in 2026: behind the azure domes you’ll still find the Resense Spa, 1,712 m², and the kids’ club Le Petit Royal. At the Fairmont Nile City Cairo, the Asian restaurant Saigon is currently closed while it is being reconceived (as of September 2026); the spa, with a private hammam and a panoramic sauna, is now called Fairmont Spa instead of Willow Stream Spa. Our travel advisors will gladly tell you the latest at the 5-star hotel in Cairo you have in mind.
In Cairo almost every luxury hotel has a pool – the real question is where it is: high above the Nile, in a garden or on an artificial beach.
Fairmont Nile City Cairo · PoolAbove the river you swim at the Fairmont Nile City Cairo: the Sky Pool is on the 25th floor of the Nile City Towers, with views of the Nile and the skyline and, on clear days, all the way to the pyramids. At the Sofitel Cairo Nile El Gezirah on the southern tip of Gezira Island, a heated infinity pool with Nile views awaits, together with the Sunny Bar. For families: the InterContinental Cairo Semiramis has a pool with a Nile view, plus a children’s pool.
Waldorf Astoria Cairo Heliopolis · PoolDowntown, The Nile Ritz-Carlton Cairo offers an Olympic-size outdoor pool with a shaded terrace, cabanas and the Aqua Pool Bar. The St. Regis Cairo combines an outdoor pool with cabanas and the poolside restaurant Sirocco with an indoor pool.
In the east things get greener – the right area if you want a 5-star hotel in Cairo with a garden or resort pool. The Waldorf Astoria Cairo Heliopolis sets its pool in a botanical garden, with cabanas and a pool bar called Le Jardin. The Kempinski Palace Cairo has an outdoor pool with garden views plus an indoor pool.
Beach instead of Nile: in Mirage City the JW Marriott Hotel Cairo has a large resort pool with an artificial sandy beach. The St. Regis New Capital Cairo in the New Administrative Capital goes furthest: a main pool in front of the Montego restaurant, an indoor pool and an artificial beach with a wave machine.
The Sky Pool at the Fairmont Nile City Cairo opens early in the morning and closes at sunset. If you want to see the pyramids on the horizon, go up in the morning while visibility is still clear, and reserve a table at the rooftop pool restaurant in advance. Because the deck closes at sunset, the evening belongs to Bab El Nil down by the river.
In Cairo a spa visit often means the hammam. The Fairmont Spa at the Fairmont Nile City Cairo has a private Turkish hammam, a panoramic sauna and a steam room, all free for hotel guests aged 18 and over. At the Mandara Spa of the JW Marriott Hotel Cairo you lie on a heated marble slab beneath domes in the Moroccan hammam, and the signature treatment is a four-hand massage. And the Waldorf Astoria Cairo Heliopolis combines a traditional hammam scrub with psammotherapy on warm sand loungers in two of its treatment suites.
JW Marriott Hotel Cairo · CairoThe large spas at the luxury hotels in Cairo include the LifeStyles Health Club & Spa at the InterContinental Citystars Cairo, covering around 3,000 m², the Resense Spa at the Kempinski Palace Cairo, spanning 1,712 m² with a Beauty Centre and a Health Centre, and the Iridium Spa at The St. Regis Cairo, covering more than 1,000 m², with sauna, steam bath, ice chamber, experience showers, vitality pool and light therapy.
To relax with a view of the water, head to the Sofitel SPA at the Sofitel Cairo Nile El Gezirah: rituals range from “Secrets of Cleopatra” to “Oriental Experience”, and the large Jacuzzi has floor-to-ceiling windows onto the Nile. At the Kempinski Nile Garden City Cairo the sauna, steam rooms and whirlpool are free for hotel guests. The spa at The St. Regis New Capital Cairo is in the Trio Club House, with eight treatment rooms, a Moroccan hammam, sauna and Jacuzzi; the gym has a separate women’s area.
Among the city’s most talked-about hotel kitchens is Brasserie Ayda at the Waldorf Astoria Cairo Heliopolis: the World Culinary Awards named it Egypt’s Best Hotel Restaurant 2025. Executive Chef Ivana Bogicevic cooks Mediterranean food under the motto “Mediterranean without Borders”, in a garden-style interior with an open kitchen and terrace, daily from 6:30 am to 11 pm; on Fridays brunch is served from 1 pm to 5 pm.
Waldorf Astoria Cairo Heliopolis · DiningAt The St. Regis Cairo, J&G Steakhouse Cairo bears the signature of Jean-Georges Vongerichten, with premium cuts and seafood from around the world. La Zisa serves southern Italian cuisine with Nile views there. At the Fairmont Nile City Cairo you sit at Bab El Nil over Middle Eastern cuisine, live music and shisha right by the river; Gingko cooks contemporary Peruvian food on a terrace above the Nile. At the Sofitel Cairo Nile El Gezirah, Kebabgy Oriental Grill on the Nile promenade grills lamb and chicken over open charcoal.
The Nile Ritz-Carlton Cairo · DiningOn the Nile: at The Nile Ritz-Carlton Cairo, Vivo serves Italian fine dining with Nile views, while Bab El-Sharq brings an oriental atmosphere with shisha and entertainment. Ottoman cuisine is on the menu at Osmanly in the Kempinski Nile Garden City Cairo in Garden City.
In the east of the city: at the InterContinental Citystars Cairo you’ll find Lebanese mezze with a live band at Fayruz and teppanyaki at Shogun. If you are after aged steaks, book the JW Marriott Hotel Cairo with its JW Steakhouse.
At no extra cost: you pay the same rate as booking direct with the hotel – the suitespot benefits come on top, free of charge.
For the rest of the evening, many luxury hotels in Cairo have a bar of their own. Our tip: the St. Regis Bar at The St. Regis Cairo is modelled on the King Cole Bar in New York, and its signature drink is a Bloody Mary with hibiscus. At the Waldorf Astoria Cairo Heliopolis, the Raa bar mixes cocktails inspired by Egyptian mythology to a soundtrack of jazz, and Bar’Oro at The Nile Ritz-Carlton Cairo looks out over the Nile.
For afternoon tea, head to the Onyx Lounge at the Fairmont Nile City Cairo, daily from 3 pm to 5 pm, or to the Window on the Nile Lounge at the Sofitel Cairo Nile El Gezirah, a library-style lounge with views of the water.
Book your 5-star hotel in Cairo to match your evening – then the way home is just a ride in the lift. At the Fairmont Nile City Cairo you sit at Bab El Nil with live music and shisha by the river, at the Kempinski Palace Cairo Bab Al Qasr offers takht music and belly dancing, and at the JW Marriott Hotel Cairo live Arabic music plays at Ahlein. Talk to our travel advisors if you would like to plan your room and your table for the same evening.
The Nile Ritz-Carlton Cairo stands on historic ground on Tahrir Square. The building opened in 1959 as the Nile Hilton, designed by Welton Becket, right next to the Egyptian Museum. After a complete refurbishment lasting several years, it reopened as a Ritz-Carlton in October 2015 – and in the lobby you’ll come across genuine pharaonic reliefs and an artefact from Karnak.
InterContinental Cairo Semiramis · Downtown CairoThe story of the InterContinental Cairo Semiramis goes back even further. On 7 February 1907 the first Semiramis opened here as Cairo’s first year-round hotel on the Nile, designed by the Italian architect Parvis and run by the Swiss hotelier Bucher-Durrer, with Egypt’s first roof garden. It was demolished in the 1970s; since 1987 today’s 32-storey InterContinental tower has stood in its place.
Sofitel Cairo Nile El Gezirah · ZamalekOther luxury hotels in Cairo carry their past with them too. The round tower of the Sofitel Cairo Nile El Gezirah on the southern tip of Gezira Island opened in 1984 as El Gezira Sheraton, closed in 2006, was completely renovated and reopened as a Sofitel in 2007; its interiors were designed by Pierre-Yves Rochon. He also designed the interiors of the Kempinski Nile Garden City Cairo in the historic diplomatic quarter of Garden City, which blends Egyptian influences with European elegance around a two-storey atrium.
If you prefer a modern 5-star hotel in Cairo, you will find places with character too. The Waldorf Astoria Cairo Heliopolis welcomes you beneath a glass atrium shaped like the Eye of Ra, with a Waldorf clock featuring a Nile motif. The St. Regis Cairo has an Astor Ballroom with a Swarovski chandelier. The Kempinski Palace Cairo in New Cairo draws on Austrian palaces with azure domes and an inner courtyard, and the Fairmont Nile City Cairo opened in October 2010 in the Nile City Towers with 562 Art Deco rooms and suites.
Michelin Keys recognise hotels, not restaurants. In Cairo, two hotels have each held one Michelin Key since 2025: the Fairmont Nile City Cairo and The St. Regis Cairo.
Fairmont Nile City Cairo · BoulaqThe same two also hold four stars in the Forbes Travel Guide, as does the Waldorf Astoria Cairo Heliopolis. In its “Recommended” category, the Forbes Travel Guide lists The Nile Ritz-Carlton Cairo.
There are also accolades beyond the big guides: Brasserie Ayda at the Waldorf Astoria Cairo Heliopolis is Egypt’s Best Hotel Restaurant 2025 at the World Culinary Awards, the Fairmont Nile City Cairo is a Virtuoso Preferred Partner, and the Sofitel Cairo Nile El Gezirah has held the Green Globe sustainability certification since 2024.
The addresses are spread across a vast city, and the location decides how much time you spend in the car.
Kempinski Nile Garden City Cairo · Garden CityOn the Nile Corniche in Downtown you stay right in the thick of things, and almost half of the luxury hotels in Cairo are here. Our pick: The Nile Ritz-Carlton Cairo on Tahrir Square, right next to the Egyptian Museum. In Garden City, a few steps from Tahrir Square, you stay at the InterContinental Cairo Semiramis on the Corniche or at the Kempinski Nile Garden City Cairo on the east bank of the Nile.
Sofitel Cairo Nile El Gezirah · Rooms & suitesFurther north in Boulaq stand the two hotels with a Michelin Key: The St. Regis Cairo at the northern end of Downtown and the Fairmont Nile City Cairo in the Nile City Towers, with its Sky Pool on the 25th floor.
In Zamalek the Sofitel Cairo Nile El Gezirah sits on the southern tip of Gezira Island in the Nile, close to the Opera House and about five minutes by car from Tahrir Square – quieter than the Corniche, yet central.
In Heliopolis and Nasr City you are close to the airport – handy if your 5-star hotel in Cairo is mainly a stop before or after a flight. The Waldorf Astoria Cairo Heliopolis is on Orouba Street, a few minutes from the airport, and the InterContinental Citystars Cairo is inside the Citystars shopping complex with direct access to the shops. Our pick: the Waldorf Astoria Cairo Heliopolis.
At no extra cost: you pay the same rate as booking direct with the hotel – the suitespot benefits come on top, free of charge.

In the Mirage City development, the JW Marriott Hotel Cairo and the Renaissance Cairo Mirage City Hotel share a 27-hole golf course, a spa and a water park – the address for anyone combining Cairo with golf and resort days. Our pick: the JW Marriott Hotel Cairo.
In the New Administrative Capital, close to the government district, stands The St. Regis New Capital Cairo – a resort for anyone with business there or looking for a villa and a beach.
