Born from a sugar plantation: Casa de Campo Resort grew on the land of a sugar estate. In the 1960s Gulf+Western chief Charles Bluhdorn sketched the vision of a resort; it opened in 1975 with 20 rooms and Pete Dye’s Teeth of the Dog course.
