One 5-star hotel in Sopot, chosen by our travel experts: Sofitel Grand. Every suitespot booking comes with free breakfast for 2, a room upgrade subject to availability, hotel credit and VIP service – benefits worth over €500.
Sofitel Grand Sopot · Dolny SopotIt has a wooden pier, first opened in 1827, a promenade and a long, pale sandy beach. For this guide we reviewed the best hotels in Sopot and chose one: the Sofitel Grand, a 5-star hotel.A night at the Sofitel Grand Sopot costs €108. That includes breakfast for two, a 100 USD hotel credit, an upgrade on arrival subject to availability, early check-in and late check-out subject to availability and a welcome gift. You keep earning ALL (Accor) points and status benefits as usual.
Why we recommend it: do the arithmetic. At a rate of €108 the package includes a 100 USD hotel credit – the best ratio in this entire guide. Then there is the building: an art deco hotel from 1927, right on the beach at the foot of the pier. It opened as the Kasino Hotel Zoppot and has been the landmark of the town ever since.
Two things define this destination.
The hotel credit is the real lever here. 100 USD against a room rate of 108 euros means dinner in the hotel is effectively included. Our travel advisors will tell you where to spend it when you enquire.
Six of the eight categories face the sea, the rest look into the park. The odds are good – but say so when you enquire anyway, and the odds become a commitment.
The benefits apply from the first night. For a resort that many treat as a day trip from Gdańsk, that is the practical point: one night is enough to get everything.
The Sofitel Grand stands at ul. Powstańców Warszawy 12, in Dolny Sopot – the lower part of town, the part by the beach.
Our recommendation for a first visit: the position is as central as it gets in a seaside resort. The beach starts in front of the hotel, the pier runs out beside it, and at right angles to both, Bohaterów Monte Cassino leads into town – the pedestrian street everyone here calls the Monciak.
Gdańsk and Gdynia are neighbours. The Tricity hangs together: Gdańsk is about twelve kilometres south, Gdynia roughly the same distance north. The commuter train runs every few minutes and takes just under twenty minutes either way.
Gdańsk airport is about twenty kilometres south-west.
The hotel has eight categories, and two of them are suites.
The rooms are Classic, Superior, Luxury and Magnifique – Superior and Luxury also come with a balcony. The two suites are Junior Suites, one of them likewise with a balcony.
What decides here, though, is the view, and the distribution is unusually favourable: six of the eight categories look out over the Baltic. The rest look into the park.
Our travel advisors recommend the Sea Side Superior Room – the category where sea view and price fit together best.
A night at the luxury hotel in Sopot costs €108. The suitespot benefits apply from the first night.
When it is at its best: June and September. The Baltic is warm enough, the days are long, and the beach does not belong to day visitors alone.
When it is busiest: July and August. Sopot is the Tricity's seaside resort – on hot weekends half of Gdańsk comes, and the Monciak is full.
When it is quietest: November to March. The Baltic in winter is an experience of its own, and the hotel is considerably cheaper then.
How long to stay: three nights. One for Sopot and the beach, one for Gdańsk with its old town and St Mary's, one for the Hel peninsula or Gdynia.
On the minimum stay: there is none. A single night brings you the full package, in February as in July.
And whatever the date: you get the suitespot benefits in the quietest week of the year just as you do in the busiest.
Sopot is the oldest and best-known resort on the Polish Baltic coast, and it still works on the same principle.
Personal luxury travel adviceOur travel advisors personally accompany your booking – 365 days a year, from the first offer to late check-out. Reach the suitespot VIP service via email or WhatsApp.Phone: +49 30 81452346 · hotel@suitespot.comThe first thing is the pier. First opened in 1827, it runs far out into the bay and it is where Sopot goes walking – in the morning, in the evening, and in winter above all. The hotel stands at its foot.
The second is the Monciak. The pedestrian street Bohaterów Monte Cassino leads from the beach into town, with cafés, shops and the crooked building everyone photographs. It is short, and you walk it several times a day.
The third is the Tricity. Sopot sits between Gdańsk and Gdynia, and the commuter train effectively makes one city of them. You stay on the beach and are in the Gdańsk old town in twenty minutes – that combination barely exists elsewhere on the Baltic.
What our travel advisors arrange most often here is the table and the spa – both places where the 100 USD hotel credit can go. Plus the late check-out, because the last morning on the beach is the best one.
