Grand Resort Bad Ragaz · City CentreWhich property suits you depends on the occasion. If you want thermal water and medical expertise, book Grand Resort Bad Ragaz: the resort includes the Tamina thermal baths with indoor and outdoor pools, a family spa and the Tamina Health medical center. For couples, we recommend The Alpina Gstaad above Gstaad, home to Switzerland's first Six Senses Spa, a 25-meter indoor pool and a ladies-only area. The properties in this selection are spread across the Alps and the big lakes. If you want snow, mountain air and slopes on your doorstep, choose the Valais, the Bernese Oberland or Graubünden; if you would rather relax by the water, pick Lake Geneva, Lake Lucerne or Lake Maggiore in Ticino. In the spa town of Bad Ragaz and in Vals, the spring water itself is the star.
Cervo Mountain Resort ZermattValais: In car-free Zermatt, Cervo Mountain Resort Zermatt sits on the slope above the village right by the piste, facing the Matterhorn. Saas-Fee is car-free too, and The Capra Saas-Fee has only 38 rooms and suites there, most with a living area and balcony. In Crans-Montana, Guarda Golf Hotel looks out over the golf course to the Valais Alps.
Bernese Oberland and Saanenland: In Interlaken, between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, Victoria Jungfrau Grand Hotel Interlaken faces the Jungfrau straight from the Hoheweg promenade. Le Grand Bellevue Gstaad stands on the promenade in the heart of Gstaad, surrounded by its own park. In Grindelwald, many rooms at Bergwelt Grindelwald - Alpine Design Resort look onto the Eiger North Face.
Graubünden and Bad Ragaz: Secluded above the mountain village of Vals, about 20 kilometers beyond Ilanz, 7132 Hotel Vals sits right next to the thermal baths. In St. Moritz-Bad, Grand Hotel Des Bains Kempinski St. Moritz stands at the valley station of the Signalbahn, at the foot of the Corviglia ski area. Bad Ragaz, in the canton of St. Gallen, is about an hour's drive from Zurich Airport.
No booking fee: you pay the same price for your rate as for the same rate booked direct with the hotel – suitespot adds no mark-up, and the benefits come on top.
Lake Lucerne and Engelberg: High above the lake, Bürgenstock Hotel is reached by the Bürgenstock funicular from the boat landing stage. In the center of Engelberg, under three minutes' walk from the station and close to the Titlis cable cars, you'll find Kempinski Palace Engelberg.
Lake Geneva: Right on the shore in Montreux, Fairmont Le Montreux Palace is a Belle Époque palace from 1906 facing the lake and the Alps. La Réserve Geneva sits in lakeside grounds in Bellevue, about five kilometers from downtown Geneva; in summer a boat shuttle runs into the city. In the center of Lausanne, 500 meters from the station, Lausanne Palace has welcomed guests since 1915.
Ticino: In Ascona on Lake Maggiore, two resorts have their own beach: Hotel Eden Roc Ascona, set in a 10,000 m² garden five minutes' walk from the Piazza, and Castello del Sole Beach Resort & SPA, on a 140-hectare estate of fields and vineyards at the Maggia delta. You'll find all luxury hotels in Switzerland, including those without a spa focus, in our guide.
Spa areas in this selection range from 300 m² to 10,000 m². When you are looking for the best spa resorts in Switzerland, compare the spa itself: are there indoor and outdoor pools, a sauna landscape, thermal or brine water, separate areas for women or for adults?
Bürgenstock Hotel · on Lake LucerneAmong the properties in this selection, Bürgenstock Hotel has the largest spa: 10,000 m² above Lake Lucerne with five pools, including the outdoor Hollywood Pool, plus saunas, a hammam and relaxation areas. Next comes the 5,500 m² Spa Nescens at Victoria Jungfrau Grand Hotel Interlaken, with a large indoor pool, a year-round outdoor brine pool and an open-air whirlpool.
Built into the mountain, the Bergoase spa at Tschuggen Grand Hotel Arosa spans 5,000 m² over four floors, designed by Mario Botta with glass sails, indoor and outdoor pools at 34 °C, Kneipp pools and a grotto with a waterfall. The spa at The Dolder Grand Zurich covers 4,000 m² with separate ladies' and gentlemen's spas, an Aqua Zone with a 25-meter pool, a snow paradise and a meditation space under a mirror-mosaic dome; children are welcome from age 12.
Le Grand Bellevue Gstaad packs a Thermal Oasis with 17 wellness zones into its 3,000 m² spa, including a hay sauna, an infrared sauna, a hammam, an outdoor Finnish sauna and a Himalayan salt grotto. At Grand Hotel Des Bains Kempinski St. Moritz, water from the Mauritius spring feeds the 2,800 m² Alpine Spa, with a Kneipp stream, four saunas, a separate Ladies Spa, heated indoor and outdoor pools and a cryotherapy chamber at −110 °C.
For true thermal water, go to Grand Resort Bad Ragaz: in the Tamina thermal baths you soak indoors and outdoors in water at 36.5 °C from the Tamina Gorge, alongside a sauna world, a private spa and a family spa. At 7132 Hotel Vals, hotel guests can use the thermal baths from 7 am to 8 pm; Peter Zumthor built them in 1996 from 60,000 slabs of Vals quartzite, and the 30 °C St. Peter spring feeds them.
On Lake Geneva, La Réserve Geneva relies on the anti-aging concept of Swiss clinic brand Nescens: about 2,500 m² with medical, nutrition and physiotherapy experts, plus indoor and outdoor pools, hammams and saunas. On Lake Maggiore, the spa at Castello del Sole Beach Resort & SPA also covers 2,500 m²; its signature VinoAqua Therapy is a scrub made from the estate's own grapes, and the hydropool has more than 750 jets.
Two spas of around 2,000 m² each: the one at Hotel Eden Roc Ascona, designed by Carlo Rampazzi, with four pool and whirlpool areas, a Kneipp pool and a ladies' area, and the Six Senses Spa at The Alpina Gstaad with a salt room, sound healing and heated water beds. Sauna lovers find a hay bath, laconium and rasul across 2,100 m² at Walliserhof Grand Hotel Saas-Fee in Saas-Fee, and nine sauna and steam options at Lenkerhof Lenk, including salt and ice grottos.
Smaller, but in a special spot: Kempinski Palace Engelberg has its 880 m² spa on the roof, with a panoramic pool behind glass. The 800 m² Fire & Ice SPA at Bergwelt Grindelwald - Alpine Design Resort has won the DACH SPA Award three years in a row. At Chasa Montana Samnaun, the Montana Spa covers 1,500 m², with an 18-by-9-meter Roman sports pool and an outdoor saltwater jacuzzi.
Bathing works differently at Cervo Mountain Resort Zermatt: the Atman Mountain Spa is spread across the grounds, with a Japanese-style onsen, a Bhutanese hot-stone herbal bath in a wooden hut, a natural cold pool and two Mongolian yurts for massages and relaxation.
Guests of 7132 Hotel Vals can also bathe in Peter Zumthor's thermal baths at night on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, from 11 pm to 1 am. Cameras and phones are not allowed in the baths, which keeps the evening especially calm. Plan your stay so that at least one of these nights is included.
For an adults-only stay, book Aïda Hotel Crans-Montana: the 18-key chalet welcomes guests from age 16, the pool lies under a wooden vault with fountains, and the jacuzzi sits next to a fireplace. Elsewhere, age limits apply only in the spa: from 16 at the Fire & Ice SPA in Grindelwald, from 14 at the Spa Nescens in Geneva, and the Bergoase in Arosa is reserved for guests aged 14 and over from 6 pm.
Aïda Hotel Crans-Montana · Chermignon-d'en-HautFor spa time just for two, couples book a private spa suite. At Guarda Golf Hotel, the couples' Spa Suite has its own jacuzzi and hammam; at Lausanne Palace, the private spa suite for two comes with a sauna, hammam and bath. Castello del Sole Beach Resort & SPA offers the 70 m² SPA Suite Onsernone with whirlpool, steam bath and sauna, and Bürgenstock Hotel has three Private Alpine Spa Suites.
With kids, check the kids' club and pool times. At Tschuggen Grand Hotel Arosa, the Kids' Club looks after 3- to 15-year-olds, and little ones have a 34 °C children's pool just 45 centimeters deep. Grand Resort Bad Ragaz has its own family spa and a kids' club from age three. At Lenkerhof Lenk in the Simmental, children can use the water slide into the indoor pool until 5:30 pm, and La Réserve Geneva cares for children from six months to 12 years in its kids' club La Petite Réserve.
Our travel advisors check before you book whether childcare and individual spa areas are open during your travel dates.
Many mountain resorts close between seasons: Tschuggen Grand Hotel Arosa reopens on November 27, 2026, The Alpina Gstaad on December 11, 2026. Open all year, by contrast, are Victoria Jungfrau Grand Hotel Interlaken, Fairmont Le Montreux Palace on Lake Geneva and Walliserhof Grand Hotel Saas-Fee in Saas-Fee. If you are planning a wellness break in Switzerland in November, these are your best bets.
At many properties, wellness and fine dining go hand in hand. At Grand Resort Bad Ragaz, Sven Wassmer cooks at Sven Wassmer Memories, awarded three Michelin stars; IGNIV by Andreas Caminada, led by executive chef Joël Ellenberger, holds two. The resort also has an 18-hole and a 9-hole golf course.
The Dolder Grand Zurich · HottingenIn Zurich, Heiko Nieder cooks at The Restaurant at The Dolder Grand Zurich, awarded two Michelin stars. At Lausanne Palace, La Table du Lausanne Palace under chef Franck Pelux also holds two stars. And at Hotel Giardino Ascona, Reto Brändli cooks at ECCO Ascona with two Michelin stars; the hotel has direct access to Golf Club Patriziale Ascona.
At 7132 Hotel Vals, Marcel Koolen heads the kitchen of 7132 Silver, which holds two Michelin stars. Radius by Stefan Beer at Victoria Jungfrau Grand Hotel Interlaken has one Michelin star and a Green Star, and the Cantonese Le Tsé Fung under Frank Xu at La Réserve Geneva has one star. On Lake Maggiore, Mattias Roock cooks at Locanda Barbarossa at Castello del Sole Beach Resort & SPA, which holds one Michelin star.
No booking fee: you pay the same price for your rate as for the same rate booked direct with the hotel – suitespot adds no mark-up, and the benefits come on top.
Active days often start at the door. Tschuggen Grand Hotel Arosa has its own mountain railway, the Tschuggen Express, up to the slopes, and Grand Hotel Des Bains Kempinski St. Moritz sits at the Signalbahn valley station. W Verbier is next to the Médran gondola, and Cervo Mountain Resort Zermatt sits at the edge of the piste above Zermatt.
In summer, golf and water take over: Bürgenstock Hotel has a 9-hole alpine golf course, and Hotel Eden Roc Ascona has a private beach, its own harbor and a water sports school on Lake Maggiore. From Chasa Montana Samnaun, a shuttle takes two minutes to the lifts of the Silvretta Arena Samnaun/Ischgl with 239 kilometers of pistes.
Looking for another destination for a spa break? Our guides to spa hotels in Austria, spa hotels in South Tyrol and spa hotels in Germany compare spas, saunas and pools.
Marco Campanella runs La Brezza, awarded two Michelin stars, in two places: in winter at Tschuggen Grand Hotel Arosa (December 11, 2026 to March 14, 2027) and in summer at Hotel Eden Roc Ascona. Both properties belong to the Tschuggen Collection and have large spas. If you want to combine Michelin dining and wellness, you'll find the chef in the mountains or by the lake, depending on the season.
In this selection, a luxury spa hotel in Switzerland starts at 207 € a night at Chasa Montana Samnaun and goes up to 1877 € at The Alpina Gstaad. The table shows the price, selected suitespot benefits and the spa of each property, sorted by region.
