On the right bank, Carl Freiherr von Schwarz had the Hôtel d’Autriche built from 1863 to 1866; later renamed Österreichischer Hof, it became the social hub of the Festival. In 1988, Peter Gürtler, owner of the Hotel Sacher in Vienna, bought the house, and since 2000 it has been called the Hotel Sacher Salzburg.
