Behind it is the former Hotel Astor, which closed in 2020 and was converted and extended by the architects Parisotto + Formenton as a “hotel in the park”: a brutalist building in exposed concrete, furnished with Italian design classics from the 1970s onwards. For you this means just 37 rooms, including five suites, many with a terrace and sea view, an outdoor pool between sea and garden, and a new spa. In its opening year the hotel was a finalist in Elle Decor Italia’s Best of Interiors.
At the Belmond Hotel Splendido Portofino, Martin Brudnizki Design Studio carried out a three-year restoration. It brought the cocktail bar Baratta Sedici, named after the address Salita Baratta 16, a breakfast area, a renewed pool and the Dior Spa Splendido.
