The three hotels in Lana belong to the same family-run group, and you notice it in very practical ways: whichever house you sleep in, you can walk to the spa at the Hotel Schwarzschmied Lana. From the 1477 Reichhalter Lana it is around 350 metres, roughly three minutes. Its guests use the spa there, with some 1,000 m²: indoor and outdoor pool, saunas, steam bath, relaxation rooms and gym, with massages and beauty treatments to book on top. There is also daily yoga, guided hikes and bike rental.
Hotel Schwarzschmied Lana · BolzanoThe Villa Arnica Lana is the Schwarzschmied’s next-door neighbour. It has no spa of its own, so you redeem your suitespot spa credit next door. An old inn with a new life, the 1477 Reichhalter Lana has welcomed overnight guests since summer 2018. Klaus Dissertori of the Schwarzschmied turned the building in the pedestrian zone into a boutique hotel. Upstairs are eight rooms, each with work by photographer Jasmine Deporta and without TV, plus a small roof terrace reserved for hotel guests. Downstairs, locals and guests meet in the dining rooms and at the espresso bar.
Two of the three houses have a pool of their own, and guests of the third swim at their sister hotel.
Villa Arnica Lana · PoolAt the Hotel Schwarzschmied Lana you swim in an outdoor pool of 20 by 7 metres, heated all year and filled with Grander water, next to a lawn with a pergola and a view of the vineyards. For cooler days there is an indoor pool of 10 by 7 metres. The Susanne Kaufmann Spa offers treatments with Susanne Kaufmann’s natural skincare; for heat there is a steam bath, an organic sauna and an outdoor Finnish sauna, and for cooling off a cold plunge pool at 5 to 15 degrees. Yoga retreats and the Arise Mindful Program round things off, and there is a gym as well.
At the Villa Arnica Lana the heated pool sits in the garden, with its tiles from 1965 and an arbour beside it. For treatments you go next door to the Schwarzschmied. The 1477 Reichhalter Lana has neither pool nor spa; its guests use both at the Schwarzschmied free of charge.

Anyone eating out in Lana ends up sooner or later in the dining rooms of the 1477 Reichhalter Lana. Chef Andreas Heinisch cooks South Tyrolean inn cuisine with Mediterranean influences, and the menu changes every month. Ingredients come from the hotel’s own Arnica field and from local producers, and the salami is made in-house. There are 50 seats in two dining rooms, plus the terrace under the vine arbour. The restaurant holds three Gault&Millau toques, the Monocle Restaurant Award and a Falstaff distinction. It is open Monday to Saturday for breakfast, lunch and dinner; the espresso bar serves in-house croissants in the morning, aperitivo and homemade lemonades later on.
1477 Reichhalter Lana · DiningAt the Hotel Schwarzschmied Lana, the restaurant is called La Fucina. Chef Andreas Pircher cooks regional, seasonal food in the Slow Food spirit, with produce from the region, and also offers vegan, vegetarian, lactose-free and gluten-free dishes; breakfast and dinner are served. During the day, the Bistro Luce in black and white is the place to go: small dishes from 12 noon to 5 pm, with the bar open from 8 am to midnight.
The Villa Arnica Lana cooks garden to table. In the Parlour and the Poolhouse, breakfast, brunch, lunch, tea time and dinner are made with seasonal, regional ingredients. In the afternoon the Poolhouse serves afternoon tea with homemade pastries, and at sunset the grill is lit there.

The 1477 Reichhalter Lana carries its age in its name: the inn is first mentioned in 1477. Over the centuries it was a mill, a bakery known by the old name “Brodtbank”, a coffee house and finally a butcher’s shop with an inn. Klaus Dissertori of the Schwarzschmied converted it, working with architect Zeno Bampi and interior designer Christina Biasi von Berg, and reopened it in July 2018. The art in all eight rooms is by photographer Jasmine Deporta.
The Villa Arnica Lana was built in 1925. Its interiors were designed by Studio Biquadra, and in the garden a piece of the villa’s past has survived: the pool still has its tiles from 1965.
The other two are closely tied to the Hotel Schwarzschmied Lana. Schwarzschmied GmbH runs the Reichhalter as an extension of the hotel, and the Villa Arnica is its sister house next door. The Schwarzschmied itself is a design-led, family-run wellness and yoga hotel among the vineyards.
