The Alpina Gstaad · OberbortAt the Gstaad Palace, you swim in the indoor pool at 29 °C, famous from the 1975 film “The Return of the Pink Panther”; outside, a Jacuzzi steams at 36.5 °C all year round. The Palace Spa covers 1,800 m², with Blausee granite and a log fire, a hammam with a floating pool, a private spa suite and rituals using herbs from the hotel’s own organic garden, Jardin des Monts.
The Alpina Gstaad is home to the Six Senses Spa, the brand’s first in Switzerland, spread over around 2,000 m². The indoor pool is 25 meters long, with a stone wall and two Jacuzzis, and outside a heated pool awaits in the gardens by Jean Mus, with Alpine views. Le Grand Spa at Le Grand Bellevue Gstaad covers 3,000 m²: its Thermal Oasis has 17 zones, including a hay sauna, a hammam, a Himalayan salt grotto and an outdoor Finnish sauna. The indoor pool with Jacuzzi opens onto the lavender terrace in summer, and outside there is a relaxation pool with mountain views.
At the Ultima Gstaad, you swim in the 15-meter pool and then unwind in the oversized timber hot tub beneath the mountains or under the snow shower. Treatments use Augustinus Bader, and a longevity clinic with Dr. Xavier Tenorio is part of the spa as well.
Summer at the PISCINE
From late June to the end of August, the Gstaad Palace opens the PISCINE, a 50-meter art deco outdoor pool from 1928. Since 2021 it has had an art deco pool bar, with a DJ on weekends. The Gstaad Palace goes back to village teacher Robert Steffen, who founded it with investors from Lausanne; it opened in December 1913 as Gstaad’s first luxury hotel. The Scherz family has run it since 1938 and owned it since 1947, and Andrea Scherz, the third generation, has led it since 2001. Today the castle-style building is a 5-star hotel in Gstaad with 90 rooms and suites.
Ultima Gstaad · WispileThe building of Le Grand Bellevue Gstaad is a year older: built in 1912 as a cure house with baths on the Promenade, it was bought by Daniel and Davia Koetser on its centenary. After a year of renovation it reopened in December 2013 as a casual-chic palace hotel, decorated by Davia Koetser herself, with House of Hackney wallpapers and Neisha Crosland fabrics.
The chalet hotels are younger.
