Why we recommend it: Because it is the hotel César Manrique helped build: designed by the architect Fernando Higueras, with gardens, murals and a seawater lagoon pool by Manrique, who took the Jameos del Agua as his model – and since its 2023 reopening after a 15 million euro renovation an adults-only hotel from age 16 with an all-inclusive concept, four restaurants, three bars and two pool areas. Where to stay in Costa Teguise: on the beach, between Arrecife and Manrique’s island
The Paradisus Salinas Lanzarote lies on Avenida de las Islas Canarias in Costa Teguise, directly on Las Cucharas beach – eleven kilometres from the airport, six from Arrecife and nine from Teguise, the old capital inland.
Our recommendation is therefore for anyone taking Lanzarote as Manrique’s island – Jameos del Agua, Mirador del Río, Timanfaya – and wanting to come back in the evening to a hotel that is part of that work.
What lies within reach: Las Cucharas beach at the door, with the trade wind that makes it a windsurfing beach; Teguise, the town of the nobility with its Sunday market, a quarter of an hour; and the Jameos del Agua, Manrique’s lava cave with the underground lake, twenty kilometres up the coast.
For orientation: Arrecife airport is a quarter of an hour away, Timanfaya with its fire mountains three quarters of an hour. Costa Teguise itself is walked; for the island one needs a car, and the island is small enough for one day per direction.
