Lindner Hotel Mallorca Portals Nous · BendinatEvery booking through suitespot comes with a comprehensive package of suitespot benefits:The selection splits into three quite different propositions. In the old town itself: Can Bordoy Grand House on Carrer del Forn de la Glòria, Convent de la Missió in a former seminary building, Nobis Hotel Palma on Carrer de les Caputxines, Summum Boutique on Carrer de la Concepció and Es Princep on Carrer de Bala Roja below the Calatrava walls – all small, all within the old town, all a walk from the cathedral.
Above the city in Son Vida, the golf district: Castillo Hotel Son Vida, a Luxury Collection property in a hilltop castle, and the Sheraton Mallorca Arabella. And along the bay to the west, where the island turns coastal: Hospes Maricel on the Andratx road, the Lindner Hotel Mallorca Portals Nous, and the Hotel de Mar Gran Meliá at Illetas – at about EUR 575 the highest entry rate of the selection. The Gran Meliá Hotel Victoria on Avinguda de Joan Miró sits between the two worlds, overlooking the harbour.
This is the question we are asked most about Mallorca, and it deserves a precise answer rather than a reassuring one.
Castillo Hotel Son Vida Mallorca · Son VidaNone of our hotels is at the airport. Son Sant Joan sits east of the city, and the luxury inventory runs in the opposite direction – into the old town, up to Son Vida, or west along the bay. In practice that is not a problem: the airport is roughly fifteen minutes from the old town by road, and the western bay hotels add another ten to fifteen. If you have a very early flight, the honest advice is to book the transfer rather than the address.Personal luxury travel adviceOur travel advisors personally accompany your booking – 365 days a year, from the first offer to late check-out. Reach the suitespot VIP service via email or WhatsApp.Phone: +49 30 81452346 · hotel@suitespot.comWithin the selection the distances break down like this. The five old town houses – Can Bordoy, Convent de la Missió, Nobis Palma, Summum and Es Princep – put you inside the walls, which means the cathedral, La Lonja and the Passeig del Born are on foot and no car is needed. Son Vida is about ten minutes up the hill by car, quiet and green, with golf on the doorstep and nothing else – you will drive for dinner. The bay hotels at Illetas, Portals Nous and along the Andratx road are ten to twenty minutes west, and they trade the old town for direct access to the water.
Our travel advisors will tell you the realistic driving time for your dates rather than the optimistic one – in July and August, the coast road takes noticeably longer.
Mallorca's luxury season is shorter and sharper than most people expect. Rates peak from late June to early September and drop steeply either side, while the island stays warm well into October. May, June and October are the sweet spot: the same rooms, the sea already or still swimmable, and considerably better availability in the upper categories – which is also when a room upgrade from your suitespot benefits is most likely to come through.
Palma is small enough to cross on foot, but the surrounding bay changes the character of a stay entirely.
Es Princep Palma de Mallorca · La CalatravaThese three areas cover the whole selection.
Can Bordoy Grand House on Carrer del Forn de la Glòria is the largest-format of the four and the highest entry rate in town at about EUR 396. Convent de la Missió occupies a former seminary on Carrer de la Missió, Nobis Hotel Palma sits on Carrer de les Caputxines and Summum Boutique on Carrer de la Concepció, from roughly EUR 218, and Es Princep (EUR 287) below the Calatrava walls with a view over the bay. All five put the cathedral, La Lonja, the Passeig del Born and the tapas streets on foot – and none of them needs a car.
Castillo Hotel Son Vida, a Luxury Collection property in a hilltop castle on Carrer Raixa, and the Sheraton Mallorca Arabella share the residential golf district about ten minutes above Palma. Quiet, green, with courses at the door – the trade-off is that you will drive into town for dinner.
West of the city the coast begins. Hotel de Mar Gran Meliá at Illetas (about EUR 575) has its own stretch of shore, the Lindner Hotel Mallorca sits at Portals Nous by the marina (EUR 160, the lowest entry rate of the selection) and Hospes Maricel stands directly on the Andratx road above the water. The Gran Meliá Hotel Victoria, on Avinguda de Joan Miró, is the halfway house: harbour views, ten minutes on foot from the old town.
On an island, a suite is usually about space and outdoor area rather than status – and the difference between our three groups of hotels shows up exactly here.
Summum Boutique Mallorca · ZentrumThe old town houses are conversions of historic buildings, which means few rooms, high ceilings and courtyards rather than balconies. Can Bordoy Grand House and Convent de la Missió are the ones to look at if you want a suite with character inside the walls; both are small enough that the top categories go early.
The bay and Son Vida properties work the other way round: larger footprints, terraces, sea or golf views, and more categories to choose between. At the Hotel de Mar Gran Meliá and the Castillo Son Vida, the view is the variable that decides the price, not the size of the room.
One practical point that matters more here than in a city: on Mallorca, aspect and outdoor space are worth more than an extra category. Tell our travel advisors whether you want sea view, terrace or quiet – those three rarely come together, and they will say which property delivers which.
suitespot rates are genuine direct rates: you earn regular points and elite nights in the respective programme and keep status benefits. In Palma de Mallorca, 9 of our 11 hotels take part – Marriott Bonvoy covers the widest range (Castillo Hotel Son Vida, Sheraton Mallorca Arabella, Hospes Maricel, Nobis Hotel Palma), followed by the Leaders Club (Es Princep, Hotel de Mar Gran Meliá), World of Hyatt at the Lindner, Meliá Rewards at Summum Boutique and iPrefer at Can Bordoy. Two houses – Convent de la Missió and the Gran Meliá Hotel Victoria – take part in no loyalty programme; there the suitespot benefits are the whole of what comes on top.
On price: the median entry rate of about EUR 261 puts Palma below Barcelona and Madrid but above Seville and Valencia. The internal spread is wide – from EUR 160 at the Lindner in Portals Nous to EUR 575 at the Hotel de Mar in Illetas – and it tracks the water almost exactly: the closer to the shore, the higher the rate.
Most guests who book Palma de Mallorca also want to see the island, and the geography is worth knowing before you choose a base.Personal luxury travel adviceOur travel advisors personally accompany your booking – 365 days a year, from the first offer to late check-out. Reach the suitespot VIP service via email or WhatsApp.Phone: +49 30 81452346 · hotel@suitespot.comThe Serra de Tramuntana, the UNESCO-listed mountain range along the north-west coast, starts about thirty minutes from the city: Valldemossa, Deià and Sóller are the classic day trip, and the vintage train from Palma to Sóller is worth the detour in itself. The east coast beaches and the calas are an hour or more away – far enough that they are a day out, not an afternoon.
Which means: if the island rather than the city is the point of the trip, a base in the bay or in Son Vida with a car makes more sense than the old town, where parking is a genuine nuisance. If you are here for Palma itself, the opposite is true.
As a suitespot guest you travel with VIP status: our travel advisors register your preferences with the hotel before you arrive – on Mallorca that means aspect and outdoor space above all, and, in the old town, the practicalities of arriving by car.
suitespot rates are genuine direct rates: you keep earning regular points and elite nights in the hotel's loyalty program and retain your status benefits – on top of your suitespot benefits. These programs are represented in Palma:
| Program | Hotels | Examples in Palma |
|---|---|---|
| Marriott Bonvoy | 4 hotels | Castillo Hotel Son Vida Mallorca, Sheraton Mallorca Arabella, Hospes Hotel Maricel Mallorca … |
| Leaders Club | 2 hotels | Es Princep Palma de Mallorca, Hotel de Mar Gran Melia Mallorca |
| I Prefer | 1 hotel | Can Bordoy Grand House Palma de Mallorca |
| Melia Rewards | 1 hotel | Summum Boutique Mallorca |
| World of Hyatt | 1 hotel | Lindner Hotel Mallorca Portals Nous |
Entry-level rates at our 11 hotels currently run from about EUR 160 per night at the Lindner Hotel Mallorca in Portals Nous to roughly EUR 575 at the Hotel de Mar Gran Meliá at Illetas, depending on season, room category and availability. The median is around EUR 261 – below Barcelona and Madrid, above Seville and Valencia. Inside the old town, Summum Boutique starts at about EUR 218 and Hospes Maricel at EUR 221. You always book direct rates through suitespot, and the benefits worth over EUR 500 come on top.
Not directly – and we would rather say so than imply otherwise. Son Sant Joan airport lies east of the city, while our whole selection runs the other way: into the old town, up to Son Vida, or west along the bay towards Illetas and Portals Nous. In practice the distances are short – roughly fifteen minutes from the old town, twenty-five to thirty from the western bay – so for an early flight the answer is to arrange the transfer rather than to choose the hotel by its distance to the terminal. Our travel advisors book it with realistic timings for your dates.
Three quite different answers. The old town – Can Bordoy, Convent de la Missió, Nobis Palma, Summum – if you want a city break: the cathedral, La Lonja and the Born on foot, and no car needed. Son Vida, ten minutes up the hill, for golf and quiet, accepting that you drive into town for dinner. And the bay at Illetas, Portals Nous or on the Andratx road if you want the water: Hotel de Mar Gran Meliá, the Lindner and Hospes Maricel are ten to twenty minutes west of the city.
It depends on what a suite means to you here. In the old town, Can Bordoy Grand House and Convent de la Missió are historic conversions with few rooms, high ceilings and courtyards – character rather than square metres, and the top categories sell out early. On the bay and in Son Vida, the Hotel de Mar Gran Meliá and the Castillo Hotel Son Vida offer larger formats with terraces and sea or golf views, where the aspect sets the price rather than the size. Tell us whether sea view, terrace or quiet matters most – on Mallorca those three rarely come together.
Yes. suitespot rates are genuine direct rates: points and elite nights accrue normally and status benefits still apply. In Palma de Mallorca, 9 of our 11 hotels take part in a programme – Marriott Bonvoy at the Castillo Hotel Son Vida, the Sheraton Mallorca Arabella, Hospes Maricel and Nobis Hotel Palma; the Leaders Club at Es Princep and the Hotel de Mar Gran Meliá; plus World of Hyatt, Meliá Rewards and iPrefer. The Convent de la Missió and the Gran Meliá Hotel Victoria take part in no loyalty programme.
For the Serra de Tramuntana, yes – Valldemossa, Deià and Sóller are about thirty minutes away, and the vintage train from Palma to Sóller is a trip in its own right. For the east coast beaches and calas, less so: those are an hour or more, so they become a full day out. If the island is the point of the journey, a base in the bay or in Son Vida with a car works better than the old town, where parking is a real nuisance. If Palma itself is the point, stay inside the walls and skip the car.
May, June and October. Rates peak from late June to early September and fall away sharply on either side, while the island stays warm well into October – so the shoulder months give you the same rooms, a swimmable sea and much better availability in the upper categories. That is also when a room upgrade is most likely to come through. Winter is mild and the city works as a short break, but many of the bay properties reduce their operation.
Inside the city, Can Bordoy Grand House on Carrer del Forn de la Glòria – a historic conversion with a garden, and the highest entry rate in the old town at about EUR 396. For a view instead, the Hotel de Mar Gran Meliá at Illetas has its own stretch of shore, and the Castillo Hotel Son Vida occupies a castle on the hill above the city, with the bay below.
Booking through suitespot also gives you valuable benefits such as complimentary breakfast and a possible room upgrade – which on this island usually means the difference between an inland and a sea-facing room.
