Your guide to the best luxury hotel in Yalıkavak

Yalıkavak was a sponge-divers’ village on the north-western tip of the Bodrum peninsula – until the marina came, with the yachts, the boutiques and the restaurants that only fill at midnight in summer. What remained are the windmills on the hill, the Aegean blue and the north wind that keeps the place cooler than Bodrum town. The Bodrum Hotel YalikavakThe Bodrum Hotel Yalikavak · District Nr. 6For this guide we reviewed the best hotels in Yalıkavak and chose one: a luxury hotel with its own sandy beach – where almost every room has a clear direction, to the sea or to the garden. What that means for booking is below.

At no extra cost: booking through suitespot costs the same as booking direct with the hotel – the benefits come on top, free of charge.

One luxury hotel in Yalıkavak – and who it suits

Our choice for Yalıkavak is The Bodrum Hotel Yalikavak on 91. Sokak, right on the water of the bay. In our ranking it stands at 4.5 out of 5, and a night starts at 259 euros. The hotel belongs to the MGallery collection and to the ALL (Accor) programme.

Why we recommend it: Because it is the first hotel of its collection on the Turkish Aegean, opened on 1 July 2021 with 102 rooms, 35 of them suites – and because it has what is scarce in Yalıkavak: a private sandy beach. Add an infinity pool above the bay, an indoor pool for the months without sun and the Mood Spa with a Turkish hammam. Dinner is at Bohemy and at the Beach House right on the sand; the marina with its restaurants lies two kilometres on. Our recommended category is called Deluxe Sea View.

Our travel advisors’ insider tip

In this hotel you do not book the size but the direction.

Ten categories, six of them suites. What matters is the view: six categories face the sea – Deluxe, Suite, Executive Suite and Boho Suite –, three the garden: Superior Suite, Family Suite and one Deluxe.

Our recommended category, the Deluxe Sea View, already has the Aegean outside the window – the sea view is the basic fitting here, not the level above. Anyone wanting the suite takes one of the three sea suites; the Family Suite faces the garden, which with children is the cooler room in the afternoon.

Then the package: breakfast, 100 US dollars of credit, upgrade, points, early check-in and late check-out, a welcome gift – and the rule one should know: two nights minimum stay. The credit is generous, and on a beach with a Beach House it is spent in one evening.

Our advice: Book the sea as a Deluxe and let the upgrade bring the suite. Most categories face the water; the chance that the upgrade on arrival lands in one of them is good here. And plan two nights – the first belongs to the beach, the second to the marina.

Where to stay in Yalıkavak: on its own beach, two kilometres from the marina

The Bodrum Hotel Yalikavak stands on 91. Sokak in Yalıkavak, on the shore of the bay – two kilometres from the marina, sixteen from Bodrum town and 36 from Milas-Bodrum airport.

Our recommendation is therefore for anyone wanting to take the Bodrum peninsula from its quieter side – and for anyone who wants the marina in the evening without sleeping above it at night.

What lies within reach: Yalıkavak Marina with the yachts, the boutiques and the restaurants, five minutes by taxi; the windmills on the hill above the old village; and Gümüşlük, the fishing village on the ruins of Myndos, twenty minutes by car.

For orientation: Milas-Bodrum airport is a good three-quarters of an hour away, Bodrum town with the castle and the ferry port for Kos half an hour. On the peninsula one drives; the hotel is the place where the car is left standing.

Ten categories: the best hotel in Yalıkavak from the inside

The Bodrum Hotel Yalikavak lists ten categories, six of them suites – nine with a clear direction, to the sea or to the garden.

The rooms: the Deluxe, the Deluxe Sea View – our recommended category – and the Deluxe Garden View.

The suites: Suite, Executive Suite and Boho Suite, all to the sea; Superior Suite and Family Suite to the garden.

On the view: this hotel’s motif is the bay of Yalıkavak – six categories face it. Three more look onto the garden.

What applies equally to every category: breakfast for two, 100 US dollars of hotel credit, the upgrade on arrival subject to availability, ALL (Accor) points, early check-in and late check-out subject to availability and a welcome gift.

What a night at the luxury hotel in Yalıkavak costs

A night at the luxury hotel in Yalıkavak starts at 259 euros.

The minimum stay is two nights. Included are: breakfast for two, 100 US dollars of hotel credit, an upgrade on arrival subject to availability, ALL (Accor) points, early check-in and late check-out and a welcome gift.

When it is loveliest: in May and June and in September and October, when the water is warm and the marina is not yet, or no longer, full.

What belongs to the peninsula: high summer. In July and August Bodrum has 35 degrees and the marina the yachts from Istanbul; the restaurants need a reservation and the road to Bodrum patience. That is not a warning but the calendar: anyone coming then has the beach and the indoor pool – and the north wind that makes Yalıkavak two degrees cooler than the south coast.

When to ask early: in July and August, for Bayram and on every weekend from June to September.

How long to stay: three nights – the minimum is two, and Gümüşlük needs an evening of its own.

And whatever the date: you get the suitespot benefits in the quietest week of the year just as you do in the busiest.

A private beach, three pools and exclusive services in a 5-star hotel

The Bodrum peninsula is the Turkish counterpart to the Riviera: a town with a crusader castle in the south, a dozen bays all around and in each a different society – Türkbükü for the yachts, Gümüşlük for the fishermen, Yalıkavak for both. The sea is the Aegean, opposite lies Kos, and the wind comes reliably from the north.

Three things belong to it. First Yalıkavak Marina: 620 berths, boutiques, restaurants – the place where the peninsula says going out in the evening. Second Gümüşlük: the tavernas on the water above the ruins of the ancient city of Myndos, from which one walks across the stones to Rabbit Island at low tide. Third the castle of Bodrum: the Knights Hospitaller fortress of 1402 with the Museum of Underwater Archaeology, home to the oldest shipwreck in the world.

The package at this hotel is breakfast, credit, upgrade, points, check-in and check-out and gift.

What our travel advisors arrange most often: the category facing the sea, for the reason stated above, the airport transfer, because three-quarters of an hour across the peninsula is better without a car, and the table in Gümüşlük at sunset.
