Your guide to the best luxury hotels in Abu Dhabi

Our selection in Abu Dhabi runs to 23 properties, with entry rates from about 80 € to 365 € per night and a median of roughly 175 €. It is a wide field for a city this size, and the single most useful thing to understand about it is that the rate is set less by the brand above the door than by which island the hotel stands on.Rixos Premium Saadiyat IslandRixos Premium Saadiyat IslandOn the Corniche, a Sofitel starts at 80 €, a Conrad in the Etihad Towers at 90 € and a Grand Hyatt at 100 €. On Saadiyat Island, twenty minutes away, nothing at all starts below 295 €. Both are Abu Dhabi, and the difference is not one of category.

With every booking through suitespot you receive a comprehensive package of suitespot benefits:
  • Complimentary breakfast for two
  • Room upgrade subject to availability
  • Up to 100 USD hotel credit per stay
  • Early check-in and late check-out subject to availability
  • Standard points and status benefits in the hotel programmes

Along the Corniche stand the Sofitel Abu Dhabi Corniche (from around 80 €), the Conrad Abu Dhabi Etihad Towers (90 €), the Grand Hyatt (100 €), The St. Regis Abu Dhabi in the Nation Tower (175 €) and the Mandarin Oriental Emirates Palace (275 €).

On Saadiyat Island: the Saadiyat Rotana (295 €), the Park Hyatt (295 €), Jumeirah at Saadiyat Island (310 €), The St. Regis Saadiyat Island (330 €) and the Rixos Premium Saadiyat Island (365 €). Between the two, on the Khor Al Maqta waterway, the Fairmont Bab Al Bahr (100 €), the Shangri-La Qaryat al Beri (145 €) and The Ritz-Carlton Grand Canal (170 €); on Al Maryah Island the Rosewood (185 €), on Yas Island the W (170 €).

The island decides the price, not the brand

Run the numbers across our 23 properties and one line separates them cleanly.Conrad Abu Dhabi Etihad TowersConrad Abu Dhabi Etihad Towers · Abu DhabiEvery one of the six properties on Saadiyat Island starts at 295 € or above: the Saadiyat Rotana and the Park Hyatt at 295 €, Jumeirah at Saadiyat Island at 310 €, The St. Regis Saadiyat Island at 330 € and the Rixos Premium at 365 €. The cheapest Saadiyat address therefore starts above the most expensive Corniche address – the Mandarin Oriental Emirates Palace, at 275 €.Personal luxury travel adviceOur travel advisors personally accompany your booking – 365 days a year, from the first offer to late check-out. Reach the suitespot VIP service via email or WhatsApp.Phone: +49 30 81452346 · hotel@suitespot.comAsk via WhatsAppWrite an emailOn the Corniche the picture is the opposite: four of the five properties start below 175 €, and three of them below 100 €. Those three are a Sofitel, a Conrad and a Grand Hyatt – not a step down in category, simply a different part of town.

What that means in practice: in Abu Dhabi the meaningful question is not which brand you can afford but whether you want a beach or a city. Saadiyat is beach, space and the museum quarter. The Corniche is the waterfront promenade, the shortest distances and, at these rates, frequently a suite for the price of a Saadiyat room. Our travel advisors will price both sides for your dates – the gap surprises people.

Luxury hotels in Abu Dhabi by district: where to stay?

Abu Dhabi is spread across a main island and several smaller ones, connected by bridges and long, fast roads.Mandarin Oriental Emirates Palace Abu DhabiMandarin Oriental Emirates Palace Abu Dhabi · StadtmitteThese six areas cover twenty of our twenty-three properties; the remaining three are outside the city and have their own section below.

Saadiyat Island – beaches and the museum quarter

Six properties, and the most expensive group in the city: the Rixos Premium Saadiyat Island (from around 365 €), The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort (330 €), Jumeirah at Saadiyat Island (310 €), the Park Hyatt (295 €), the Saadiyat Rotana (295 €) and the Club Privé by Rixos, which shares the Rixos Premium address and is listed separately at around 1.730 € on an all-inclusive basis.

The Corniche and West Corniche – the waterfront city

Five properties and the lowest entry rates we list here: the Sofitel Abu Dhabi Corniche (from around 80 €), the Conrad Abu Dhabi Etihad Towers (90 €), the Grand Hyatt Abu Dhabi on West Corniche (100 €), The St. Regis Abu Dhabi in the Nation Tower (175 €) and the Mandarin Oriental Emirates Palace (275 €).

Khor Al Maqta – the canal between the two

Three properties on the waterway that separates the main island from the mainland: the Fairmont Bab Al Bahr (from around 100 €), the Shangri-La Qaryat al Beri (145 €) and The Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi Grand Canal (170 €). All three look across the water at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque.

Al Bateen and Al Maryah Island – marina and financial district

The Abu Dhabi EDITION at Al Bateen Marina (from around 150 €) and the InterContinental Residences on Zayed The First Street (205 €); on Al Maryah Island, the financial district, the Rosewood Abu Dhabi (185 €).

Yas Island and Al Marina – the entertainment side

W Abu Dhabi on Yas Island (from around 170 €) and the Rixos Marina Abu Dhabi on the Marina Mall Ring Road (120 €).

Capital Gate – the exhibition centre

The Andaz Capital Gate on Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street (from around 100 €), in the leaning tower beside the national exhibition centre – the practical choice when your reason for coming is an event there.

Suites, rooms and the seven-star question

A steady share of the searches that reach this page ask for a seven-star hotel in Abu Dhabi. There is no such classification – the phrase is a piece of marketing that attached itself to one building, the Emirates Palace, and never came off.The St. Regis Abu DhabiThe St. Regis Abu Dhabi · Corniche BeachWe list it as the Mandarin Oriental Emirates Palace Abu Dhabi, from around 275 €, and it is rated 4.7 in our own reviews. The genuinely surprising part is the price: six of our Abu Dhabi properties start higher than the Emirates Palace does, all but one of them on Saadiyat Island. The most famous address in the city is not its most expensive one.

On suites, the deepest ranges are at the Emirates Palace (Khaleej, Pearl, Palace, Royal Khaleej and Royal among eight categories), at The St. Regis Abu Dhabi (seven, from the Executive up to Al Mushref and Al Manhal) and at The Ritz-Carlton Grand Canal, whose categories are named after its Venetian layout. The Abu Dhabi EDITION lists Marina, Loft and Premier suites, and the Park Hyatt a Prince and an Ocean suite.

For families, eight of the 23 list dedicated family categories – among them the Emirates Palace, the Conrad Etihad Towers, the EDITION, the Grand Hyatt, Jumeirah at Saadiyat Island and the Andaz, which also lists apartments. At the entry rates on the Corniche, a family suite here often costs less than an ordinary room elsewhere in the region.

What a luxury hotel in Abu Dhabi costs – and the two all-inclusive exceptions

Entry rates across the regular room stock run from about 80 € at the Sofitel Abu Dhabi Corniche to 365 € at the Rixos Premium Saadiyat Island, with a median of roughly 175 € per night. Below 105 € you will find the Sofitel, the Conrad Etihad Towers (90 €), the Grand Hyatt and the Andaz Capital Gate (100 € each), the Fairmont Bab Al Bahr (100 €) and the Aldhafra Resort (105 €).

Two entries sit outside that logic, and it is worth saying why rather than leaving them to look like errors. The Rixos Premium Saadiyat Island and the Club Privé by Rixos Saadiyat Island are the only two properties in our Abu Dhabi selection whose rate is all-inclusive – food and drink are in the price, which is why neither carries our usual breakfast benefit and why the Club Privé, listed at around 1.730 €, is not comparable with a room-only rate anywhere else on this page. The two share an address on Saadiyat Island.

One thing not to assume from that: the Rixos Marina Abu Dhabi is not all-inclusive. Same group, different rate structure – it is a room rate with breakfast, from around 120 €. Brand alone is no guide here, so check the benefit list of the individual property, or ask us.

Value, incidentally, does not follow price in this city. The best-rated house in our Abu Dhabi selection is The Abu Dhabi EDITION at 4.8, from 150 €, and the cheapest, the Sofitel Corniche at 80 €, is rated 4.6.

Three of our hotels are not in the city at all

Abu Dhabi is an emirate as well as a city, and three of the 23 properties on this page are somewhere else in it. Worth knowing before you book rather than after.

The Al Wathba Desert Resort, a Luxury Collection property from around 185 €, gives its own distance in its address: 50 km south-east of the city, in the dunes. It is rated 4.5 in our reviews and is the closest thing here to a desert stay. The Anantara Sir Bani Yas Island (from around 330 €) and the Aldhafra Resort at Madinat Zayed (105 €) are both in the emirate's Al Dhafra region, west of the capital – a serious drive rather than an excursion, and in Sir Bani Yas's case an island. Choose them as the destination, not as a base for the city.

For everything else, our travel advisors arrange what the museums and the mosque require in practice: timed entry for the Louvre Abu Dhabi on Saadiyat, an early or late visit to the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque – the three Khor Al Maqta hotels face it directly – tables in the Etihad Towers and on Al Maryah Island, and transfers to Yas Island for a race weekend, when rates across the whole city move.

As a suitespot guest you travel with VIP status: we pass your preferences to the hotel before you arrive – in Abu Dhabi most often a high floor facing the Gulf rather than the city. On top of that, every property includes breakfast for two (except the two all-inclusive rates, where it is already in the price), an upgrade subject to availability and up to 100 USD hotel credit.

Earn points & use your status in Abu Dhabi

Frequently asked questions about luxury hotels in Abu Dhabi

How much does a luxury hotel in Abu Dhabi cost?

Entry rates for our 23 properties in Abu Dhabi start at around 80 € per night at the Sofitel Abu Dhabi Corniche and reach 365 € at the Rixos Premium Saadiyat Island. The median entry rate is about 175 € per night.

Where you stay matters more than which brand you pick: all six Saadiyat Island properties start at 295 € or more, while four of the five on the Corniche start below 175 € and three below 100 €. One entry sits outside that range entirely – the Club Privé by Rixos at around 1.730 €, an all-inclusive rate rather than a room rate. With suitespot you always book at direct rates, and the benefits worth more than 500 € come on top.

Which are the best hotels in Abu Dhabi?

By our own reviews, the highest-rated is The Abu Dhabi EDITION at Al Bateen Marina with 4.8 – and at around 150 € it sits in the middle of the price field, not at the top. Next come the Mandarin Oriental Emirates Palace and The St. Regis Abu Dhabi on the Corniche at 4.7 each, then the Sofitel Abu Dhabi Corniche and Jumeirah at Saadiyat Island at 4.6.

The Sofitel is worth a second look in that list: it is the lowest entry rate of all 23 properties and among the best rated. Not every house we list scores that highly, which is exactly why our travel advisors go through the shortlist with you rather than handing over a ranking.

Should I stay on Saadiyat Island or on the Corniche?

Saadiyat Island is the beach and museum side: six properties, all starting at 295 € or above – the Saadiyat Rotana and the Park Hyatt (295 €), Jumeirah at Saadiyat Island (310 €), The St. Regis Saadiyat Island (330 €) and the Rixos Premium (365 €). You get sand, space and the Louvre Abu Dhabi on your doorstep.

The Corniche is the city: the Sofitel (80 €), the Conrad Etihad Towers (90 €), the Grand Hyatt (100 €), The St. Regis Abu Dhabi (175 €) and the Emirates Palace (275 €). Shorter distances, the waterfront promenade, and rates at which a suite is often realistic.

A third option sits between them: the three hotels on Khor Al Maqta – Fairmont Bab Al Bahr, Shangri-La Qaryat al Beri and The Ritz-Carlton Grand Canal – which face the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque across the water, from 100 €.

Is there a seven-star hotel in Abu Dhabi?

No, and there is no seven-star classification anywhere – official hotel ratings stop at five. The phrase has attached itself to the Emirates Palace, which we list as the Mandarin Oriental Emirates Palace Abu Dhabi from around 275 €, rated 4.7 in our reviews.

If what you actually mean is the most expensive room in the city, the answer is not the Emirates Palace: six of our Abu Dhabi properties have a higher entry rate, among them the Rixos Premium Saadiyat Island (365 €), the Anantara Sir Bani Yas Island (330 €) and The St. Regis Saadiyat Island (330 €). If you mean the largest suites, tell our travel advisors what the occasion is and we will price the top categories at three or four houses side by side.

Do I earn points and status at luxury hotels in Abu Dhabi?

At 21 of the 23 properties, yes. Marriott Bonvoy covers six of them (both St. Regis houses, The Ritz-Carlton Grand Canal, the EDITION, the W and Al Wathba), ALL five, World of Hyatt three, IHG Rewards two, and Hilton Honors, Fans of Mandarin Oriental, Shangri-La Golden Circle, GHA Discovery and Jumeirah ONE one each.

Two properties take part in no loyalty programme: the Saadiyat Rotana Resort and the Rosewood Abu Dhabi on Al Maryah Island. That says nothing about the houses themselves – both belong to international groups, they simply do not run a points scheme we can credit. Booking through suitespot never costs you points: you receive the standard benefits of the relevant programme, and the suitespot benefits come on top.

Which hotels in Abu Dhabi are all-inclusive?

Exactly two of the 23, and both on Saadiyat Island: the Rixos Premium Saadiyat Island (from around 365 €) and the Club Privé by Rixos Saadiyat Island (around 1.730 €), which shares its address. In both cases food and drink are part of the rate, which is why neither carries our standard breakfast benefit – it is already included.

One warning, because the brand name misleads: the Rixos Marina Abu Dhabi is not all-inclusive. It is an ordinary room rate with breakfast, from around 120 €. If full board matters to you, ask us to confirm the rate for your exact dates rather than assuming it from the name over the entrance.

Are there luxury resorts outside Abu Dhabi city?

Three of the properties on this page are outside the city, and all three are destinations in their own right rather than a base for sightseeing.

The Al Wathba Desert Resort, part of Marriott's Luxury Collection, is 50 km south-east in the dunes, from around 185 € and rated 4.5. The Anantara Sir Bani Yas Island (330 €) and the Aldhafra Resort at Madinat Zayed (105 €) both lie in the emirate's Al Dhafra region, well to the west of the capital. Sir Bani Yas is an island. If you want the museums and the mosque, stay in the city and treat these as a second leg – our travel advisors regularly build exactly that combination.

Which hotels in Abu Dhabi have suites or family rooms?

All 23 list suite categories. The deepest ranges are at the Mandarin Oriental Emirates Palace (eight categories, up to Royal Khaleej and Palace), The St. Regis Abu Dhabi (seven, including Al Mushref and Al Manhal) and The Ritz-Carlton Grand Canal, whose suites are named after its Venetian layout – Venetian, Venetian Duplex, Garden and Royal among them.

Eight of the 23 also list dedicated family categories, among them the Emirates Palace (Family and Family Deluxe), the Conrad Etihad Towers (Deluxe and Premier Family), The Abu Dhabi EDITION (Family and Loft), the Grand Hyatt, Jumeirah at Saadiyat Island, the Rixos Marina and the Andaz Capital Gate, which also has apartments. Tell us how many of you are travelling and we will ask the hotels directly.
