Our choice in Seefeld: Alpin Resort Sacher – a hand-picked 5-star hotel, individually vetted. Anyone booking through suitespot also receives breakfast for two, a room upgrade subject to availability, hotel credit and VIP service – a package of more than €500.
Alpin Resort Sacher SeefeldThe Nordic Olympic events were held here twice, in 1964 and in 1976, and the tracks still start at the edge of the village. For this guide we reviewed the best hotels in Seefeld and chose one: the Alpin Resort Sacher, a 5-star hotel.A night at the Alpin Resort Sacher Seefeld costs €356. That includes breakfast for two, an upgrade on arrival subject to availability, early check-in and late check-out subject to availability.
Why we recommend it: it is the scale. 18 categories between 30 and 95 square metres, and nine of them are suites – half of them. Then there is what the hotel builds around them: a spa of 4,700 square metres with a natural bathing pond, a lap pool and several saunas, set in a park of 20,000 square metres. The hotel is a member of the Leading Hotels of the World and has 81 rooms and suites.
The most useful tip here concerns the rooms, and it is easy to miss.
You can have the largest floor area without a suite. The largest suite – the Legends Suite with fireplace and terrace – measures 95 square metres. The Room Fireplace & Terrace measures 95 as well. So if you want space, a fireplace and a terrace rather than the word suite, there is a second option here – ask our travel advisors about it.
The Leaders Club points come with a condition. They are credited when your Leaders Club number is provided at the time of booking. Mention it when you enquire and it is settled.
The benefits apply from the first night. In a winter sports village that likes to think in weeks, that is the difference between a long weekend and no trip at all.
The Alpin Resort Sacher stands on Geigenbühelstraße 185, on the slope above the village.
Our recommendation for a first visit: the position on the Geigenbühel is the reason for the view. The hotel is not in the pedestrian zone but above it – in exchange you look across the plateau to the mountains, and its own park of 20,000 square metres begins at the door. The village with its shops and cafés is a walk away.
Innsbruck is the neighbour. The Tyrolean capital lies about 20 kilometres south; the train runs down the Mittenwaldbahn line into the Inn valley in around half an hour. Munich is a good two hours away.
Innsbruck airport is the nearest, about 25 kilometres away.
The hotel offers 18 categories between 30 and 95 square metres, and nine of them are suites.
It starts at 30 square metres – Room, Alpine Room, Alpine Deluxe Room with balcony. Above those come the studios at 50 and 70 square metres. The suites open with the Junior Suite with balcony at 45, run through the Gschwandtkopf Suite at 56 and the Olympia and Panorama Suite at 60 each, and end with the Astoria Suite with terrace at 90 and the Legends Suite with fireplace and terrace at 95 square metres.
And then there is the Room Fireplace & Terrace: a room, not a suite, and at 95 square metres exactly as large as the largest suite.
On the view: eight categories face the mountains. If that matters to you, say so when you enquire – our travel advisors recommend the View room with balcony for it.
A night at the luxury hotel in Seefeld costs €356. The suitespot benefits apply from the first night.
When it is at its best: January and February for the cross-country tracks, September for the hiking trails. Both times the sun stands well over the plateau.
When it is busiest: between Christmas and early January and in the February half-term weeks. Seefeld is then a winter sports village like any other – only dearer.
When it is quietest: in November and May, between the seasons. The spa is nearly empty then, and at 4,700 square metres that is an argument.
How long to stay: three to four nights. One for arriving and the spa, two for the tracks or the trails, one for Innsbruck.
On the minimum stay: there is none. In an Alpine village with a Saturday-to-Saturday tradition that is the most practical point on the list – two nights in February bring you the full package too.
And whatever the date: you get the suitespot benefits in the quietest week of the year just as you do in the busiest.
Seefeld is not a ski resort that happens to have cross-country tracks. It is the other way round.
Personal luxury travel adviceOur travel advisors personally accompany your booking – 365 days a year, from the first offer to late check-out. Reach the suitespot VIP service via email or WhatsApp.Phone: +49 30 81452346 · hotel@suitespot.comThe first thing is the plateau. Seefeld lies flat, at around 1,200 metres, between the Karwendel and the Wetterstein – and it is exactly that flatness at altitude that makes the tracks. Classic or skating, they start at the edge of the village; the Nordic Olympic events of 1964 and 1976 were held here.
The second is the summer, which many people do not count on. The same ground becomes hiking trails, the Gschwandtkopf is an easy local peak, and the Wetterstein summits stand behind it as the backdrop.
The third is Innsbruck. Half an hour by train and you are in an old town with the Golden Roof, the Hofburg and the museums. That turns a mountain stay into one that still has something to do when it rains.
What our travel advisors arrange most often here is spa time – the bathing pond, the lap pool and the brine whirlpool are spread over 4,700 square metres, and knowing when it is empty makes the difference. Plus the early check-in, if you come on the first train.
