Where to stay in Playa del Inglés: above the Maspalomas dunes
Playa del Inglés is a place you understand from its edge. To the west, just behind the promenade, the Maspalomas dunes begin: a protected field of shifting dunes, several kilometres across, running right down to the beach. You walk into it as into a small desert and come out again at the lighthouse.
Behind that lies the Charca, a brackish lagoon where migratory birds gather – the quietest corner of the whole south.
